1.) Expecting the whole household to walk on eggshells when you're in a bad mood 2.) Not protecting your children from the other parent when that parent did something legitimately wrong or harmful 3.) Depending on them for emotional support in the way you would w/ a partner

Things I am begging parents to stop doing as a childhood trauma therapist, part 4:

1.) Treating them unfairly because "the worlds isn't fair" . . . this doesn't actually 'prepare' them for anything (other than a potential lifetime of traumatization). 2.) Seeing your children as an "extension" of you. They are so much more than this. 3). Believing they should be grateful because you feed and house them. This is your job. /End IDs]
