when i forget to log into ao3 and i have to click proceed to see an adult fic, i actually get a kick out of it. like i am an old timey queen and my bard is apologetic: “gentle lady, dicks doth touch in this next ballad. would you prefer another?” and i give him a gesture of command like, “nay, you may proceed, minstrel. bring forth the tale of dicks”

I see a lot of nobles out here who think "Well I have a 10,000 square foot castle, surely that's enough space for a knight." WRONG. Knights are WORKING BREEDS, they need to go on regular quests to prove their fealty and come home horribly wounded. I have seen SO MANY adopted knights DESPONDENT because their liege keeps them cooped up in a castle and won't let them go on quests. If you want an armored warrior who will be happy in your castle you need to get a castellan. They're closely related to the knight breed but adapted to the castle environment.

the most essential part of a fandom are those people who immediately tell you to write it, draw it, make it when you share your ideas, you have no idea how many fanworks are born just because someone encouraged it
Your writing is important. There. I said it. I don't care what it is you write. It can be fluff, porn, action, adventure, poetry, or the most disturbing shit you can possibly imagine, it doesn't matter. Your writing is important. All writing is important. So keep creating. You're doing something only you can do.

Pride month is coming and we are having an activity for it.
Rules
750 Min Word Count, No Max.
WiPs Allowed so long as the first chapter is complete and posted by the deadline.
Can be a prequel or sequel to a pre-existing fic, but must be previously unpublished and can standalone from the main fic.
Main POV Character(s) must be LGTBQIA+ and/or MOGAI.
All pairings allowed, but rare pairs highly encouraged! Platonic relationships and Gen fics are also welcome, though!
Flowers must be included, but do not need to align perfectly with the flower language — those are simply included for prompt and inspiration purposes. Flowers may feature in a meaningful symbolic way, as a gift between characters, or as the catalyst to solving a mystery; whatever the creator feels fits best with their vision!
Trope prompts are optional but encouraged!
While certain characters may be bigoted for the sake of a story, participants cannot promote such beliefs.
No full-on crossovers; but AUs inspired by other media is welcome so long as HP characters are fairly recognisable as themselves.
Art can also be submitted, of course, and should still follow all rules not related to word counts. Fanart should be completed to the artists’ satisfaction.

The thing about a really good ship is I need it to be equal parts sweet and fucked up. It's like a lemonade. you want it half sour and half sweet because the two flavors are complementary. The love needs to be there so it can wreck their lives or they need to be wrecks so they can fall in love
online numbers can really fuck you up when it comes to your creative work because you're sharing something you worked on with all your heart but it's very important to remember there's actual people behind those numbers. even if it's 1. that's one whole actual person. that's a human being who said "haha nice". that's a connection with a REAL person with a REAL life and REAL thoughts and feelings and experiences. like. damn. that should mean something
I've noticed that part of show, don't tell is letting characters speak for themselves instead of the narrator speaking for them. Here's my example:
Telling: When a friend said the AI song cover was better than the original song, Seth was offended beyond measure.
Showing: When a friend said the AI song cover was better than the original song, Seth said, "Dude, what kind of glue did you sniff as a kid?"
