Grace: “I didn’t even have a car.”
Rocky: “Rocky fix.”
A few weeks later
The day Grace wants a nice breeze and the Eridians accidentally produce a storm.
Grace: Someone said you sound like an owl.
Rocky: Earth night animal, question?
Grace: Yes. Someone said that.
Rocky: Who, question?
Rocky: Who said that, question?
Rocky: Who?
Rocky: Who?
Grace: (grinning)
Grace: I say ‘knock knock’ and you say ‘who’s there’ okay?
Rocky: Okay.
Grace: Knock knock.
Rocky: I know it’s Grace.
Grace: No, it’s a joke. You say ‘who’s there’ and I answer and you repeat my answer and add ‘who’. Got it?
Rocky: Rocky understand.
Grace: Good. Knock knock.
Rocky: Who’s there, question?
Grace: The interrupting cow.
Rocky: The interrupti—
Grace: Moo
Rocky: No. The inter—
Grace: (chuckles) Moo
Rocky: Grace not fair. Not letting Rocky finish.
Grace: That’s the joke pal. ‘Cause the cow is interrupting you and says moo.
Rocky: Oh that is funny joke. Now is Rocky turn. Knock knock.
Grace: Who’s there?
Rocky: No one. Rocky don’t have door to make knock.

Grace (while watching something with the microscope) : “Mist.”
Stratt: “What’s wrong?”
Grace (looking confused at the misty sample): “Mist.”
Stratt: “Yeah, but what happened?”
Grace: …
Stratt: …

Nostalgia is like chewing gum. The more you chew it and try to relive it, the weaker the flavor becomes. If it's a song, the more often you listen to it after years, the more nostalgia it loses and the more it takes on the taste of the present.
Rocky: Grace, question?
Grace: Yes, Rock. What’s up?
Rocky: Rocky want know Grace favorite thing about human body.
Grace: Oh, that's a good question. I should probably say something smart like the brain or maybe the heart…, cell renewal, or wound healing… but there are other funny things too. Imagine crying so much until your heart feels lighter or… laughing until your stomach hurts. Oh, oh, or, you know, brain freeze. Enjoying an ice cream so much and eating it too quickly that your brain feels cold. It's an awful feeling. Isn't that great?
Rocky: Leaking… pain… cold…. Grace favorite thing suffering. All humans like that or only Grace, question?
Grace: Good question. Next question.
Grace Rocky meet Mark Watney
On their way to the Great Valley
Mother Ghast managed to escape the Nether with her baby. She felt happy when she realized they were finally safe. She knew it was a new beginning without tears.
Imagine you have two cats. Both have to learn their names when they’re young, which shouldn't be too difficult.
But also imagine that they both share a brain cell and take turns.
And purely hypothetically, imagine that one of the two cats doesn't understand that it has a different name.
Now I have two cats at home who both think they have the same name.
And sometimes when I look at them and one of them is looking into the distance, zoned out, I know there’s not much going on.
Physical Pain
Pain varies.
There’s sharp pain that feels like a stab with a knife, making it feel like you’re getting shot every time you breathe.
There’s dull pain, throbbing or just being there constantly.
There's burning pain, burning its way through the body.
There’s the dull, inflating pain, feeling like a balloon gets inflated inside and bigger by the minute, stretching the skin, making it feel like it’s going to explode.
There’s hot pain, there’s cold pain.
Pain is loud. It screams in your mind and shoves your thoughts away, demanding attention. Demanding help that you can’t always give. You can turn up music, trying to make it louder than the pain.
Pain is exhausting, tiring because it steals the energy.
Pain cries, a loud noise you try to ignore. A noise that makes your heart ache because it’s part of you.
Pain is begging. Pain doesn’t want anything bad. It tries to help.
The absence of pain—the relief—makes you finally being able to rest and breathe.
