if you guys love mitski so much WHERE ARE HER ICON POSTS
here’s one bc i couldn’t find any, feel free to use, just don’t claim as your own!
reproductive rights issues:
abortion
birth control
also reproductive rights issues:
doctors performing c sections during births without informed consent
eugenics via sterilization requirements for trans people to change documentation
eugenics via forced/nonconsenting sterilization of disabled people
eugenics via forced/nonconsenting sterilization of people of color
eugenics via selective abortion of disabled fetuses (fetuses with Down syndrome especially) (these are abortions sought by people who WANT to be pregnant–but only with non-disabled children, when there’s absolutely no guarantee that a non-disabled child won’t become disabled)
if your reproductive rights activism doesn’t incorporate ALL OF THE ABOVE, i want no part of it.
also
- doctors deliberately stitching their female patients genitals tighter than necessary / than is safe to “make sex more enjoyable for their spouse”
- doctors refusing to perform sterilization on people because “they’ll change their minds and want children down the road”
THIS THIS THIS
“it’s just a parking lot”
exactly. there’s nothing there. not a statue. not a plaque. nothing.
[drives over hitler’s death site]
Bloody amazing.
And you know what’s right next to it?
That’s right, the Denkmal für die ermordeten Juden, which translates to the Memorial for the murdered jews.
So if you wanna go have a look at the monument commemorating the victims of Hitler’s regime, you can park your car right on the spot he died and walk there.
Makes ya think, doesn’t it?
Oh, well when you put it that way, you’re right! It sure is hard to live on half a million a year!
Every apologia for the rich sounds like a call for revolution.
Now, I’m no fancy accountantmatician, but when counting the three vacations, payments on the second car, children’s lessons, and “miscellaneous” as part of their “left over” income, then this family actually has $52,100 left over every year. Throw in the additions to their food costs of their 26 date nights a year, and their left over income after all standard expenses is probably at least $55,775 the median total income of American households.
This family can pay for all basic needs, a car, multiple forms of insurance, $18,000 a year in charitable donations, and a huge retirement savings account, and still have as much money as the average American family has total.
here’s why a couple earning $500k a year in new york city ends up with nothing besides 401(k) $$
i AM a fancy accountantmatician, and if you can afford to max out your 401k contribution then i don’t want to fucking hear it
Also, maybe they could just…NOT…pay $9,500 a year for new clothes for everyone? If your kids are growing, they’re going to need some new stuff, sure, but I’m pretty sure you can do that for far, far less than even $1,000 per kid. o.O
I can’t even wrap my head around the idea of having that much money. I’ve been working my entire adult life and never made more than $60,000 a year, and that was at the absolute peak of my career.
I mean, I like to joke about eating the rich, but seriously, eat the rich.
I made less in 2018 than hypothetical $500k couple donated to charity
I looooooove looking at numbers like this, as an amateur accountmatician and financial enthusiast. Because it’s so easy to those of us who make less than $500k a year to see where they can cut back to save more money. But to these high-income nincompoops, they can’t even COMPREHEND where to make changes!
Like, I too have $7,300 leftover every year. But I make $60k annually! With my husband, we bring in about $120k. And I still own a house, a car, and live in a major American city. I feel like I’m living a pretty cushy lifestyle, and I still find ways to increase my income and cut my spending all the time.
A lower income necessitates the kind of financial creativity the uber-wealthy can’t even wrap their heads around.
Sell your fucking Beamer and take the subway, you absolute pinecones.
~Piggy
P.S. Calm down you’re both maxing out your fucking 401k. You’re fine.
Oh yeah, and here’s the author of the spreadsheet’s full post on this real NYC couple. He addresses a lot of the “pushback” to this couple’s budget, but I’m still side-eyeing the hell out of it.
They’re taking THREE vacations a year and spending 18K on it (6K per average). Fuck these people.
it’s so difficult not being able to use milennial humor in a corporate setting. like i made a mistake today and i wanted to tell my supervisor it’s because i suffer from Dumb Bitch Disease, but do you think that would fly?? fuck no. i gotta say shit like, “sorry for the misunderstanding!” i can’t wait till the workforce is made up entirely of millennials and i can say “sorry i drank idiot juice for breakfast this morning” and my coworkers will be like “oh worm.”
children of color deserve better
Everyone of any color
as i was saying, children of color deserve better
Are there any children who are “wise beyond their years” or “old souls” that aren’t a product of some kind of neglect or abuse? Because I’m thinking the answer to that is a big “no”.
I hate that these are considered high praise for children, too. As if the best thing a child could be is to not be a child. For God’s sake let children be children. Celebrate the fact that they are children.
We all thought Loki was the odd one out but it turns out Thor is actually the friendly jock middle child in a family of bitchy drama club goths

January Lessons
Aries: be proud of how far you’ve come even if it feels like you’re getting nowhere. you have so many things to love yourself for.
Taurus: the way you care about people isn’t a weakness. you are so strong for remaining so soft throughout everything you’ve been through. don’t convince yourself that you are too soft or too caring or too much of anything.
Gemini: you need to jump at the opportunities that come to you. don’t be scared of spreading your wings, take things as they come.
Cancer: you are about to realize just how strong you are. don’t back down when things get rough, as soon as you push back you’ll realize your power.
Leo: learning to be independent is one of the greatest things you’ll learn, and soon it will come naturally to you. don’t be scared of doing things on your own, you’re more than capable.
Virgo: become disinterested in the people who don’t have your best interest. you need to watch out for yourself.
Libra: the people who care about you want to see you happy. when they come to your rescue in a bad situation, thank them. don’t isolate yourself.
Scorpio: you are becoming stronger everyday. even in the midst of heartbreak or pain, you keep rising. that’s what you need to remember.
Sagittarius: one thing can not be your entire world. don’t forget the people who care about you and the ones who stuck by your side before this came along.
Capricorn: be open. don’t close yourself off for a fear of getting hurt. you need to let love in as it pleases.
Aquarius: stay alert of your surroundings, but only because sometimes you miss the beauty around you. don’t get so lost in your mind, be present.
Pisces: let yourself breathe and relax as the new year comes. you are so used to feeling tense and anxious, just let things be for now.
