”It’s all a game” a quote that has not only been on replay in my mind like Frank Ocean’s ’Self Control’ but has also had me in a deep self-reflective mode. The author of the quote the late great vanguard Dick Gregory viewed as a genius by many (including me) and an angry conspiracy theorist by others tapped into truth when he said that on many occasions because when it’s all said and done and we’re no longer ”praying” for the new timeline story that makes us human algorithms: Are we really as interested as we think we are? Or are we participating in something unconsciously to validate ourselves? It’s a common concept that travels my mind often when looking at the virtual landscape as well as often questioning myself in regards to how complicit I can be in this matrix of highlights only. After chin checking myself I realized I’m just as invested in this game as the people I once judged, I noticed when I IG story myself at a hip bar or post a dope record although it gives context to who I am as a person it also feeds something that makes me the ”cool” guy but what can someone gain from that? So I made a vow if I’m going to be in the game I need to bring full transparency as well as vulnerabilities due to the lack displayed without being masked under other emotions. For as disconnected as these tools (social media) have made us it has the capacity in its foundation to allow us to serve each other in a fruitful manner in many facets. Who knows this could be an overly optimistic perspective but acting on that perspective I decided to document my journey a little more personal in a thing I call ITMWSCWJ (In the middle we stay calm we just..). We are never fully at our destination things are always subject to change so as those changes occur I wanted to bring Y'all in on my evolution. I hope it could lend a form of energy to you and yours.
