undiagnosed autistic people will be like "I don't get upset when my routine changes though!!" and it's because they've built a set of if-then loops in their head to pick from one of 6 different strict routines and they do get incredibly upset when they're unable to keep to any of the 6 scripts. I'm john normal
I wish irl grinding was as fun as in videogames tbh. Like yeah i need to go to work a thousand times but after that i have enough materials to buy a house. But alas, houses arent real
I think that when you're overstimulated you should appear kind of grayed out and no one should be able to interact with you like a locked character in a video game
I wanted to be indulgent with watercolors so I made a New Years piece! Happy 2026!
We all need floor time sometimes
PSA: stuttering in fics
as someone with a speech impediment, all of the people saying that only one type of stuttering is valid are wrong.
stuttering CAN look like this: "t-this is a-an example s-s-sentence"
OR this: "this-this is an example sen-sentence."
OR this: "t-t-t-th-..t-ttttthis is an example sentence."
OR this: "this is, uhm, an example, uh, sentence."
OR this: "this is an example sssssss-sentence."
OR this: "this is an examp-...this an example sentence."
sometimes the sentence won't even come out of your mouth at all.
there are probably many examples i'm forgetting, but that's the point! it usually is a mix of a few of these, but some people do one of them more often than others! some people with speech impediments have certain sounds that they almost consistently have trouble with (for me it's "st").
people with speech impediments also rarely-if ever-stutter whilst they're singing or whispering.
most importantly!!!! people with speech impediments are capable of saying a sentence without stuttering!! it can just be a gamble sometimes.
and if more people could portray the frustration that comes with stuttering and not being able to get words out, i'd be a very happy girl.
(fun fact: sometimes when my mouth won't let me say what i want to say, i get so annoyed that i just yell or grumble out "WORDS.")
this was your speech impediment PSA!!!!
out of all the posts i’ve made i’m happy that it’s THIS one that blew up
while my mom was pregnant with me, she was delivering chinese food on bike in new orleans. i like to think that the music she heard in the streets made me the way i am now.
happy new year everyone!

iris by goo goo dolls really is insane though. I'd give up forever to touch you? you're the closest to heaven I'll ever be? all I can breathe is your life? and I don't want the world to see me cause I don't think they'd understand? when everything's meant to be broken I just want you to know who I am? does anyone hear me.
Autistic protagonists
I don't know if this is a common autistic experience but I don't cry when I'm in pain--I do scream--but I only cry when I'm emotionally upset.
Give this kind of trait to your autistic protagonists!
Crying instead of speaking
Being silent and unreactive during questioning and then suddenly they start banging their palm into their forehead. It's the only communication they can do when they're stressed.
Characters that can't scream
Characters that can't speak below a near-shout
Characters that can only talk in terms of their special interest and when questioned about something else, they vaguely mention their special interest again, looking confused
This is fascinating! I'm also autistic and am pretty much the opposite? I have a high pain tolerance though so maybe that affects it? Bc when I'm in a lot of pain I start silently crying and tense up to the point I only let out little/barely audible noises.
Whumpee who is so tense their jaw just straight up won't open enough to speak outside grumbles through gritted teeth
Whumpee crying while letting out very short cries of pain. All while pushing away team members trying to fuss over them. Bc they're fine, they just need a second. They'll be better in a second... They promise.
Whumpee that physically holds their breath and shuts their throat to allow the motion of "screaming" without the noise alerting anyone.
Whumpee pleading with themself to just "hold it together" and "it's not that bad". Just anything to convince themself not to express pain.
Whumpee who's overwhelmed and overstimulated and then add pain into the mix. Watch as the light leaves their eyes and tears track down their cheeks while they disassociate to avoid it.
Whumpee who's mastered "mind over matter" techniques. Where they can almost... Turn the pain off. But that's only a temporary solution, and everything they're ignoring will only hit them again tenfold as soon as their focus drops.
The better I get at social skills the more aware I become of my autistic traits. Usually my default Bad Reaction is to shut down but on occasion I'll have a blow up and those always feel like my body started doing/saying things out of my control
Whumpee who inside their head knows exactly how they’re feeling and what they need but can't express it
Whumpee whose behavior suddenly shifts dramatically and observers have no idea why
Whumpee who feels embarrassed about expressing their needs, so doesn't tell anyone when they’re in pain/hunger/dizzy/etc
Whumpee who doesn't realize that they have symptoms (physical or psychological) that aren't normal. "I thought that happened to everyone"
Whumpee that continues to act normal and calm despite being physically hurt because they are genuinely unphased by it
Whumpee that becomes very upset about something that other people view as harmless
to add on from my autistic experiences:
Character who's so used to not noticing their physical needs that they can ignore pain for a while... until the moment when they can't anymore and everything crashes down on them.
Character who cries from the feeling of being out-of-control and things not going according to plan. Maybe they had a plan to manage the danger of this situation, but something went wrong, and they're more upset about the plan failing than the consequences. (For example, I recently cried because I missed a bus, not that I needed to be somewhere on time but because I had put effort into planning and catching the bus.)
A torturer finds out what specific sensory things the character being tortured hates. A scent or sound or texture that would be bearable for most people is awful for them.
Character who's being questioned does their best to comply, but keeps being misunderstood. They can't make the interrogator understand, and getting frustrated about that only makes it harder to communicate.
Character who would usually stim to cope with discomfort or pain, but they're unable to-- whether because of physical restraints or social pressure.
Characters whose outward expression of emotions don't match what they're feeling internally. In pain, they may seem stoic, or angry, or overemotional. Surprised by something good, they may seem apalled, or confused, or unimpressed, when others expect them to look happy. (I sometimes get asked "are you okay" when I'm barely even upset, but can mask when I'm internally having a breakdown.)
aint that just the way.......

Charles Leclerc
● He becomes extremely protective and nurturing. He notices the tiniest signs of you feeling unwell, even before you admit it.
● Charles insists on making a quiet, dark space for you to rest, often bringing you a warm compress for your head and a cold drink.
● He’s very patient with your moods, knowing headaches can make you irritable or withdrawn.
● Sometimes he reads aloud or plays soft music just to distract you from the pain, whispering little reassurances.
● He gets slightly anxious if he can’t help immediately, but he’s very determined to make you feel comfortable.
Max Verstappen
● Max tends to take a practical approach—he’ll get medicine, prepare hydration, and block out noise.
● He’s protective but in a slightly brusque way; he’ll snap at anyone who disturbs you during a migraine.
● Surprisingly tender when it’s just the two of you; he’ll hold your hair back while you rest and offer massages without being asked.
● Max develops a sixth sense for recognizing triggers—like skipping meals or screen time—and tries to prevent them.
● He sometimes jokes lightly to distract you from the pain, though he’s very careful not to overdo it.
Lando Norris
● Lando is an expert at making you laugh even when you’re hurting, knowing laughter can be a small relief.
● He’ll run around fetching everything you need—painkillers, ice packs, or your favorite snacks—while making little funny comments to keep your spirits up.
● He’s patient if you just want to lie silently in a dark room and won’t crowd you.
● Lando often insists on sitting with you, holding your hand, and checking in quietly every few minutes.
● He may get slightly overdramatic if you’re in pain, acting like the world’s worst villain for “hurting” you, just to get a smile.
Pierre Gasly
● Pierre is empathetic and very attentive, noticing subtle changes in your expressions or behavior.
● He’ll dim the lights, draw curtains, and make sure your space is calm and quiet.
● Often massages your temples and neck gently, whispering reassurances and soft words.
● He may ask to read or talk softly to distract you without demanding attention if you just want silence.
● He’s protective in a quiet, steady way, preferring to be there for you rather than fuss or panic.
Carlos Sainz
● Carlos is extremely patient and structured—he likes to make a routine for your recovery when headaches strike.
● He keeps a small “emergency kit” with painkillers, cold packs, herbal tea, and anything else you might need.
● Very gentle with physical contact—he’ll stroke your hair or rub your shoulders, always asking if it’s okay.
● He often sits with you in silence, letting you rest while staying close, occasionally whispering reassuring words.
● He notices patterns and tries to help you avoid triggers, from stress to hydration, without being overbearing.
I‘d love to think that Jas and Iris would befriend Krobus while Shane is absolutely puzzled as to why his daughters keep wandering into the sewers :,D
