In the forties Captain Marvel and Superman both had live action serials and captain marvel had practical effects for his superpowers while superman had animation to show off his powers of flight and to show bullets bouncing off him

Also My Captain Marvel fun facts are far more popular than my superman ones either I'm not doing tags very well or Tumblr just likes Billy Batson over Clark Kent

This is kind of a new thing for me maybe I'll keep trying to post superhero stuff including more than superman and captain marvel but I'll prefer to making a single fun fact post every day than two. I hope that people really like my posts and intend to keep it up

Mrs. Superman

Dana Dearden aka Mrs. Superman aka Obsession was a crazed superman fangirl that stole magic coins that gave her powers somewhat similar to captain marvels (batson) and then she kidnapped Jimmy Olsen to get Superman's attention. She made very few appearances but I get to have the weirdos I just like and a superman fangirl with powers like Shazam is definitely a fun one for me

Turning from zero to hero

While secret identities are an integral part of superhero mythos Billy Batson took it a step beyond being a child like most of the readers of his comics. This was replicated by Miracle Man (Marvel man) who was almost a one to one copy of Billy Batson and then Captain Mar-Vell of marvel comics was linked to Rick Jones as his civilian identity and later Ben 10 who went even further and had multiple hero forms.

Not only is it a more effective for a secret identity than a pair of glasses (I actually like the glasses) but it means that the superhero can be more relatable to their audience without people in story questioning why a child is risking his life to save others.

The Marvel family

Billy batson created a pretty solid extended family early on. In older continuities it was Mary Bromfield aka Mary Marvel (she looks best in white) who was his sister who was separated from him, Freddy Freeman aka Captain Marvel Jr, among more.

In the new 52 continuity the Shazam family was his foster family Mary Bromfield no longer being his biological sister. This version of the team was showcased in the great movie "Shazam".

This is before Super Man ever had super boy as part of his group extended family (although I do like most of the superman supporting cast including steel, especially Conner Kent Superboy and power girl will always have a spot in my heart)

Superman gave livewire one of his superhero suits

During the late 90s supermans powers were altered and he gained electrical ones similar to live wire and had to wear a containment suit. Later he gave this suit to livewire while trying to reform her she changed the s symbol into an l and she joined his team called the supermen of america.

Captain marvel was originally going to be called captain thunder, this name was kept on the back burner as it was intended to be used multiple times including for one sidekick of billy batsons a paraplegic African American boy. Captain thunder was used as an analogue for the big red cheese to fight superman. Also a legion of superheroes character is named thunder likely inspired by the would be name

There are multiple races related to Kryptonians in the various DC lores

Daxamites are the most famous. Near identical to kryptonians however they are deathly allergic to lead but have no reaction to kryptonite (perhaps only green kryptonite) the most famous daxamite is Mon El who rules

Phaelosians were introduced I believe the most recently and many were enslaved by mongol. Near identical to kryptonians but with blue heat vision instead no knowledge on their interaction with kryptonite

Dheronians were introduced in the three part superman graphic novel "superman earth one" they are pale white haired alien people who get super strength, flight, And invulnerable from a yellow sun no other powers were revealed. Also no knowledge if kryptonite works on them

Argonians are the closest to kryptonians as sometimes they are a city of krypton or a colony. Super girl of the Bruce Timm animated universe was argonian and not biologically related to superman

The last one I can recall is the Super woman of Staryl Luma Lynai who has Kryptonian like powers under an orange sun but is poisoned by a yellow one. (I just like her)

As a loose history of the name captain marvel here goes

The first Captain marvel was billy batson aka Shazam he was published by fawcett comics but eventually bought by dc

The second was made by M.F. enterprises and was an android from another planet that could separate his body parts

The third was done by marvel comics is Mar-Vell of the kree who funnily enough later became tied to Rick Jones and transformed from one to the other in a similar way billy batson became captain marvel

The forth is Monica rambaeu (I love this one) she has photon based powers, joined the avengers, and later changed her name a few times to photon, pulsar, and then spectrum. (If I could make a superhero universe one of the premier superheroes would just be a copy cat of photon)

The next was the son of mar-vell this one named genis-vell and he asked Monica to give up her name as captain marvel which she did. Eventually he gave up being called captain marvel aswell

Finally and most famously is carol danvers who I'm not a fan of. And that's my list go check out comic drake if you really wanna hear all the history he's one of my favorite youtubers

While it isn't uncommon knowledge that superman gave Richard "dick" Grayson the name nightwing the origin of that name is a bit more interesting. In Kryptonian religion there is a god called nightwing and one called flamebird. Back on krypton there were two vigilantes by the same name, superman and batman also took up those names in the bottled city of kandor, and the son of general zod (lor zod) adopted as Chris Kent took up the name nightwing because he was enhanced by the god of the same name to have darkness powers and to finish the duo a woman from the city of kandor took up the name flame bird

Captain Marvel (billy batson) was sued by DC for being "too similar to superman" however captain marvel jr (Freddy freeman) actually has a more similar costume to the man of steel having a blue suit and red cape in his first appearance. Furthermore Marvel Man (later known as miracle man) a rip off of captain marvel also has a suit similar to supermans as it is blue and has a letter on his chest as his symbol

Kryptonians have two meditative arts called torquasm Rao and Torquasm Ro that allow for astral projection, mental defenses, and other mental based skills.

Meaning Superman knows techniques on par with the Tibetan Monks batman learned from meaning this interaction could have happened

Batman: "yes martian manhunter I learned a technique that allows me to shield my thoughts from telepaths like yourself. Meaning I am the most qualified to fight this psychic threat"

Superman: "oh you also know the Kryptonian techniques? Yeah they're pretty awesome manchester black couldn't reach my mind without my say so it's very helpful"

An early captain marvel villain is Stanley Printwhistle also known as IBAC. The devil gave him the powers of the most evil people in ancient history Ivan the terrible, Cesare Borgia, Atilla the Hunn, and Caligula.

I presume even the devil didn't want to give someone the evil power of some certain men from the 1940s.

After crisis on infinite earths Dc wanted to reestablish that superman was the only survivor of krypton which changed a lot of lore.

Supergirl died in crisis but the Supergirl after her was a powered genetic shapeshifitng thing that turned into a blonde woman and called herself Supergirl, power girl was allowed to still exist but they made her atlantean who was magically enhanced, super boy (Conner Kent) had his powers be tactile telekinetic in origin to create more separation between him and superman, and then there's Dev-Em a character from legion of superheroes who was changed into a daxamite as opposed to a kryptonian.
