Just Raw Bloggin'

Ok, so I'm still working on that webcomic idea. I believe my exact words were originally, "This isn't going to turn into another huge project", but I guess I misunderstood how absolutely ridiculous it is to make a webcomic. Like, I wrote a short script, I did some story boarding, and I've now finished the forth page of eight, and this has taken SO MANY hours? Normally I spend maybe one or two hours on an illustration, but I'm finding myself spending that much on each page.

Additionally, the pages aren't that great. I wanted to just jump into the project, but it's clear that I'm learning as I go. My line work is definitely improving, but that's partially because it was abysmal at the start. The character designs seem to change on every page.

I'm also not sure how I want to share it when its done? I kind of want to take a crack at making a physical book, which just sounds like it is making the project even larger. Idk. I've formatted the comic for manga since I felt that would be easier to reformat for any webcomic purposes.

Idk. I guess I just wanted to write a little update about how long this is taking. I'd really love to share the pages, but I'm not sure how the pages will look exported. Also, I'm worried I would lose passion after I share it.

1) do this even if you're under 40. seriously. I definitely should have been doing something like this for years and I only turned 40 a month and a half ago

2) if you're like me just now trying this going "oh god i've only done 15 and i think my hands are cramping" start lower than 30 and increase by 5 once whatever number you're doing no longer makes your hand cramp up. I can manage about 15 per exercise at the moment.

Daily Doodle - Anime

Ok, so I mentioned that I’m messing around with trying to make a professional looking webcomic. I’ve started using Clip Studio, and it’s taking a lot of work to relearn how to do a bunch of basic things. This is my third attempt at making something with an anime style, and it’s getting there. It reminds me of those tacky “How to Draw Anime” books from the early 2000’s, but it’s not half bad. I’m learning a lot as I go. (I’m trying to be more positive in these little updates. I can’t tell if it’s obvious, but I’m cutting a rewriting a lot here. It sounds stilted in my head.)

I've been studying botany lately for the art book I'm working on, and, while not getting tooo bogged down in scientifically accurate things, still happily trying to apply some little details while drawing the flowers in my recent pieces :D thinking about what makes each specific flower itself.... that sort of thing 🌸🌺🌼🌻🌷🌹

Daily Doodle - An Unusual Start

Ok, bit of a funny post, but I wanted to try messing around with making a webcomic. Just to be clear, this isn't me starting another large project in an entirely new medium. I happened to have the Blaine jpeg, so I designed the page around that. All the pokemon sprites are taken directly from google images.

Mostly, I wanted to mess around with Krita's comic panel features and font settings. My goal was to make something that looks like a standard webtoons comic, and I think I succeeded? The fonts and paneling are where I want them to be.

I don't know. I made this real quick and thought I'd share.
