I would love to buy The Odyssey since I want to annotate it while I read. I’ve heard there are differences in translations and I’m curious as to which one is “best” or at least the major differences in them! Please tell me your thoughts :)

haven't played the game yet but i couldn't help myself
sally albright i love you
I usually only listen to the rough trade session of “something to believe” but today I heard the actual released full version of it after a long time and didn’t realize the noticeable difference. not in a bad way by any means. but the rough trade session, to me, feels more unsure. uncertain of the future but going forward anyways. the actual version feels more like I know there is something missing, something I need, I am sure of that. I just don’t know what it is.
i’m reading cleopatra and frankenstein (coco mellors) for the first time and right now i’m around chapter 9 but one thing i really enjoyed coming out of frank and eleanor’s chapters is how ordinary their love is. eleanor isn’t outstandingly beautiful or accomplished or smart. she’s funny and has her own little quirks, small everyday manners that make her unique. yet frank is overcome with emotion, like a wave as he says, whenever he sees her. he finds immense beauty in her ordinary features and face. they have inside jokes and don’t need anything grand to have a good time, they have a good time walking from a falafel place for goodness sake!!!!! i love seeing love in such an ordinary and simple thing. no grand gesture, no grand anything really required. just love :)
started neon genesis evangelion and genuinely cannot think about anything else other than that right now. all I can think about is watching another episode
Maybe a hot take, but I’m reading The Bell Jar for the first time and I just got to the fig tree part. The one where Esther describes her fig tree and how she’ll starve to death trying to pick a fig. Very famous. I didn’t feel very moved by it though. It was just two paragraphs long and to be honest, it was pretty direct. Like it was not hard at all to pick up on what the fig tree was a metaphor for. Not to say it was bad writing. It was interesting, but I didn’t have to stop and stare at the wall and recollect my thoughts. I just feel like it’s popular only for aesthetics, like with pomegranates.
i think one of the most romantic things ever is a long conversation.
some lucy dacus for the soul
put laufey on in the background. too little too late comes on. immediately need a breather.
imagine it’s 1985 and you’re in love with someone but haven’t told them yet and it’s killing you inside and you’re so horny you’re practically in heat. and then bruce springsteen drops i’m on fire
i need my space unless you’re the right person then don’t go anywhere.
one day I will say the right thing!!!
that first bit of friday i’m in love is just like heaven
I genuinely think Paul and John are petty (and gay) enough to have beef in every possible universe
Christina Yang is one of the best written female characters I've ever seen. She's so focused and mean and loyal and smart and loving and she's just so amazing
Cristina Yang genuinely changed my life.
