Missing waking up in pjo bad do you think it’s going to come back anytime soon??

I play this game every morning called “what would fix me”, and I think it’s pretty self explanatory but I ask myself “what would fix me today?” And then whatever the answer is, is what I do.

Usually the answer is something like; clean my room, go for a walk, get boba tea from that one place with the fancy cups even though it’s a 30 minute drive, etc.

But lately the answer has been writing waking up in pjo. I’m just not sure if I want to write the headcanon list I post here, or the true fanfiction version I post on AO3. So it’s definitely coming in just going back and forth on the format

Dennis, or Dionysus as his Father calls him, has always known he’s the black sheep of his family. Not just because his mother was mortal, or that when she died, from love or something else, his father decided to carry him to term in his right leg. Athena was born from his mind, he’s sloppy seconds as far as anyone’s concerned. And the mortal mother thing isn't all that concerning, demi-gods that ascended to immortality are as plentiful as starts in the sky.

No, what makes him an anomaly are his thoughts.

It shouldn’t be such a surprise, he was mostly mortal too once, but one off handed comment about how it’s “cruel and unusual” to subject your to drive a man to wandering the wandering the seas, keep him from the one thing he loves the most (his wife and child), and drive him to the brink of insanity all because Poseidon and Athena got into an argument.

He remembers the silence that followed, the way he knew in his bones something was wrong, and then, like a sign from a prophecy, the sound of lightning cracking.

And then he was here, at the top of a hill, his clothes in a suitcase and his heart in his hand.

Chiron wasn’t much help, never has been, even in those days. His idea of parental supervision was letting the heroes that ventured to meet him stay on his mountain and depart a morsel of his infinite wisdom if they ventured to ask. Most did not.

So it was him. Dionysus, who greeted the campers by the threshold of the mountain. Dionysus, who taught them not only swordsmanship and cunning and strategy, but also of art—how the olive branches dance when you sing to them, how the stars glint brighter when you call for the old gods by their name, he taught them of stories and art and that there were good things in life too. You just have to make it through the crummy part first.

And when the gods would call for their descendants, raised with softness and sent for slaughter, it was Dionysus who stood at the boundary. Dionysus, who offered blessings just to see the rune crack and disintegrate. Dionysus, who embroidered the first few shrouds, fingers cut and stained red.

His hands would never be clean again.

The times changed. Olives traded for strawberries, canvases for friendship bracelets. Tents for cabins.

It's only death that remains constant.

Time and time again, a calling from gods far older and stronger than him. Prophecy after prophecy. War and strife and love and famine and ruin and fortune. Again and again. One life returned for the cost of three. Sometimes the fates would spare another, for the novelty of surprise, he suspected. Never all of them. Perhaps this is his curse, to see child after child sent to their pyre, always wondering if it was his fault. If this was his punishment, and these children were only collateral damage.

Even the children of the strongest gods were not immune. He knows this, and still, he finds himself suprised when only three return. A daughter of Ares, a son of Hermes, and a daughter of Athena. No child of the underworld.

He should have known better, after all, their greatest crime was being born. The days continue on end, one after the other, and he wonders if they'll even have a body this time. There are no other children of the underworld, so he makes the shroud himself. A pomegranate plucked too soon. Becuase they were.

There's a clamor outside his office, and he follows, stealing himself to the sight of another mangled body, a pile of bones, a single denim jacket and a pile of ash.

Instead, he finds bright eyes and warm flesh. He clasps the tree to steady himself. A smile that could blind all of Olympus on lips as red as any pomegrnate.

"They came back."

He hears something. Like the crackle of lightning. Old and ancient. Far away, something fixed in place for so many centuries has finally given way and begun to turn once more.

"They all came back this time."

It sounds like hope.

Oh silly thought; but you know those edits of characters to Sienna by the Maria’s and it’s like “Would look just like you. With a temper like you, run around like you. Jumping in the pool, like you, Sing to all her pets in the way I did. Be sensitive like you”

I feel like that’s Hades and how he feels watching them — and he’s reminded so much of Zagreus when he watches you talk to Cereberus like he’s a person, bartering treats in exchange for hugs. But he’s also reminded of his wife when your temper flares because you’re not being treated the way you should be, and of his son when you see someone else being treated unfairly.

But mostly he’s reminded of himself when he watches you do your best to stay kind in world that, quite frankly, you’re too good for. And it’s so hard for him to explain so he’ll never be able to say it out loud, but loving that part of you makes him finally love that part of himself.

I watched the Jujutsu Kaisen Heavenly Inventory movie last night at the movie theatre; and it makes me sad how preventable Geto’s downward spiral was. I honestly think if he had one normal person, just one, treat him with true genuine kindness. Like if a barista at a coffee shop had offered him a free pastry on the house because honestly the poor guy looks like he hasn’t slept in days (they assume he’s a student cramming) and heard him out about his feelings of isolation, hopelessness and general despair. And in return they would offer him some realistic but positive advice. Like:

“That’s really fucked up, you shouldn’t have to go through all that.”

The bluntness of it probably catches him off guard. But it’s nice hearing someone call it what it is, what’s the word? Refreshing.

“But you know; isolation and hopelessness are essential parts of the human condition. But it passes. You just need one win, one good thing to happen, and your entire world will shift.”

They give him a chocolate croissant, two free pastries in one visit for the same customer is a new record—but it feels like one worth setting. Especially when they start seeing the affirmations customer every day.

And maybe somewhere along the line Geto stops associating the taste of absorbing curses with filth, and starts thinking of choclate croissants.
