I know I’m just posting ANYTHING atp but I actually need to express this somewhere. I’m actually struggling to watch Buffy through because of how disgusted Angel makes me. I will NEVER be listening to “oh, he’s a vampire and so much older, age gaps don’t count here!!” Because how on EARTH does that make it better for you?? There’s not only the age difference, but the power dynamic between the two and the fact that he actively stalked her from 15 years old (so I’ve heard, I’m only on S1, but it’s the fact that I have been made to hate this dude so early which is the problem).

I came to this show to watch for Buffy and Giles because THEIR dynamic is not ILLEGAL, and also is one I am missing in my current life! I looked for comfort in the two and have definitely received it, but the fact that Demon over here is preying on Buffy is actually ruining what I thought would be a safe space. NOW, call me woke, a snowflake, or whatever, but what I have said is fact. Someone free my girl.

TLDR, I hate this dude. Someone slime him.

I’m remembering why season 6 is so hard to watch; I hate watching Buffy be abusive.

I get that she’s in pain. I get that she’s been through it. But she’s fucking awful a few times here.

And look, I know I’m about two episodes from one specifically horrific showstopper of a bathroom scene, but I don’t think im open to hearing arguments about whether the attempted sexual assault in 6x19 is worse or better or equal to the fully committed domestic abuse that Buffy inflicted on Spike in 6x13.

Like, the whole thing felt like the showrunners decided to make Spike’s character do one really beyond-the-pale horrific thing to even out the numerous little emotional and physical abuses Buffy meted out on him all season.

I’m not saying spike is an innocent lil baby, but parts of this season have aged like milk and are, in hindsight, very obvious flags that Joss Whedon is a fucking ghoul.

Ya know, in case that wasn’t clear from how he framed a grown man having sex with an underage girl and emotionally traumatizing her for the rest of the show is treated like some doomed soulmate shit for 7 seasons. Have I mentioned I hate Angel?

I'm supportive of any and all women, including straight women, getting as weird and kinky in their smut as they want, but I was telling friends today about the existence of "Manacled" (which I have not read and learned everything I know about it against my will) and girls I just do not get who read or watched The Handmaid's Tale and decided this would be a great AU for a sexy dark-romance whump. I do not get it y'all. And I think you can both be "ship and let ship" and open to all the weird shit women do in their creative work in how they grapple with patriarchy by eroticizing it on their own terms or whatever, and also think that if that was what you got out of The Handmaid's Tale that you were missing the point at least a little bit? But tbc, I think the same thing about the straight women on the Handmaid's Tale TV subreddit who are really into shipping June and Nick and don’t talk about anything else. I will always be firmly anti-censorship with regard to fandom but that doesn't mean some takes won't confuse and privately concern me.
