Hello on my main tumblr :) This is mostly just wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff I like :D Stardew Valley: stardewvalley-beanplant Sims 4 and Animal Crossing: simtasticanimal Twilight: turbulenceseverywhere He/They :)
February 25th is the first day of Spring in the northern hemisphere, and that means only one thing: It's time for the Native Fruit Faire!
What's this? You've never heard of the Native Fruit Faire? Ok, you caught me. It's an Animal Crossing celebration that I made up just to keep life interesting. After a couple months of snow, what better way to usher in the return of grass than to pay homage to whatever your native fruit is?
The Fruit Fair begins on February 25th (August 25th for you southern hemisphere friends!) and lasts one week, though of course this is a made up holiday, so if it's more fun for you to pick the first Sunday of spring and go from there (or whatever you like!) go for it!
How to Celebrate
We celebrate our native fruits in many ways! You can harvest and plant more fruit trees! You can craft fruit DIYs! You can dress in fruit clothing.
Dressing Up
Every fruit has a number of built in DIY clothing, and probably an umbrella too! Some of them look pretty silly, but when is a better time to use them than when glorifying the fruit that grew here first?
You can also make or download custom designs! There's lots of cool stuff out there if you're willing to look, but here's a few examples I think are neat if you'd just like a quick option:

Decorating!
Every fruit also has a number of furniture items that can be crafted! Some have more than others but, in a pinch, clothing can be placed. There's also a lot of recipes for different things made from fruit. In the picture above, I've created a little bake sale area!
And be creative! You don't have to stick purely to items that are specifically your fruit after all. What color is your fruit? Find items that are those colors, or plant flowers of those colors! This isn't a built in holiday with themed stuff to collect, so use that creative mind of yours and come up with something you think is cool.
Planting and Harvesting
If you don't have a lot of your native fruit around still, why not plant a few trees? Your native fruit is always available from Nook's Cranny! Sure, they may not sell for as much as those foreign fruits you've planted a whole orchard of, but they're part of your island's heritage and that's pretty neat.
And if you do have a lot of trees around, or just planted a bunch, it's harvest time! Take an afternoon and shake all those fruit trees. How many of your native fruit can you get? And then once you're done harvesting, share them with your villagers or craft them into more fun stuff to decorate with!
Specific to my own island, and pictured above, I have a festival grounds. During the spring and summer, I often have a peach tree planted in the center of it, and in the colder months it's often a bonfire or other thematic item. This past fall I decided to codify that, and decided that every fall I would move that tree to a "year grove" with a marker of some sort, and every spring I would harvest from that tree to plant a brand new sapling in the festival grounds. The old year begets the new. Today, I turn off the bonfire, and on the last day of the Faire I will start the new year with a new tree.
Conclusion
If you've read this far, just know I appreciate you. I feel like a bit of weirdness and person creativity is what keeps the spark of a game like Animal Crossing going. If you decide to take part in a Fruit Faire, I'd love to hear about it.
Been designing a posable bird wing made completely out of interlocking paper, no glue or tape! My goal is to make a bird lantern similar to my koi lantern :D
The only problem now is that my laser cutter broke due to some software update by Full Spectrum Laser and they are refusing to fix it đWhen I contacted their support, they just told me to buy a new one. As if I would ever buy another laser from such a shitty company.
Anyone has a recommendation for a better laser cutter from a reputable company?
"I began drawing the title pages with the thought of maybe using chairs as the shared motif to portray the characters. I was hoping their personalities would come through in the way they sat and with the chairs they'd selected."
âJun Mochizuki, Pandora Hearts ~Odds and Ends~
[ID: Twenty-four illustrations from the manga Pandora Hearts. They primarily feature its characters sitting in or otherwise interacting with chairs. The final illustration is of a cross-shaped gravestone with pocket watch hanging from it. End ID]
Actually, my therapist has told me this is a healthy way of processing things. Because you can get the trauma out of your head And you can write the ending you wish it had. The trusted person rescue, the catharsis of getting to kill the one who hurt you.
It's good for your brain. It's healthier than bottling it up. Fiction is where we go for emotional release. That can be true with trauma too.
Adding @dear-massacre's tags because they are so true:
#this is why it's important to remember that fictional characters are fake #they have no agency. they're made up #it hurts no one to make any character go through the horrors #it is healthy and cathartic
I think philosophical girlies (gender neutral) need to be stupid as fuck and eat d*ritos and watch cartoons and listen to shallow music once and awhile or else youâll get too deep into it and become Diogenes
And like yeah Diogenes had some cool ideas and all but he also ate trash slept in a jar and jerked off into the street, so I canât imagine he was having a super great time
Donât get me wrong, this isnât anti-intellectual. I LOVE analyzing presumptions. I think you can learn something from anything with enough consideration. I think you can experience grand revelations if you think about soap long enough. I once had a nigh-on spiritual awakening just looking at a rock for an hour. And I think that if I got high on that supply a few times too often I too would completely lose my tits, swing a dead chicken through an amphitheatre, get naked, and die in public
When you accidentally say the q word (quest) and your knight starts gently clanking from their happy wiggles like now you've done it, you have to send them into the dragon's lair or their helmet ploom will droop and they'll start waxing sad poetic in the moonlight
You were once the demon king. âDefeatedâ by the hero, you went into hiding to pursue a simpler life. Today the âheroâ has appeared, threatening you family to pay tribute, not realizing who you actually are. Today you show them what happens when you have something worth fighting to protect.
You are told at seven that you wonât ever do anything good in your life. You grow up knowing that it doesnât matter that you help your younger sister make her letters properly or that youâre the one who stays up late with mother when too many custom orders come through the tailor shop. It doesnât matter that you donât want to hurt anyone or control anyone or anything of the sort. It doesnât matter that your name means Light in your motherâs native language because as soon as they realize that youâre the Demon King, no one ever calls your name again.
You are chased out of your village the moment your powers bloom at fifteen years old, and the skies turn black with your fear. A rock hits you between your shoulder blades just as you make it to the main road and you stumble, falling to your knees in a mud puddle at the very moment the skies open up.
âSheâs cursing us!â the midwife who delivered you screams over the thunder. âSheâs damning us with her!â
Your mother is crying, but she doesnât raise a hand to help you. She did everything she could, keeping your Role a secret all these years. She wonât risk anymore with another little girl to take care of.
No one tells you that you have a choice. No kind stranger drags you out of the rain and into the warmth of their home where a wise sage tells you it is not how we are born, but what choices we make.
Instead, you take the little pack your mother hid for you in the depths of the forest and sling it over your shoulder. Thereâs money, provisions, and more wraps to cover the evil mark on your left bicep.
âYour destiny will find you,â your mother told you only hours ago. âI forgive you for it.â
She meant the words as a comfort, but you only heard condemnation in it. Without having killed so much as a fly, she is already blessing you with forgiveness.
