Snow. Late night. Feeling melancholy. RM's Mono makes me feel like I'm not the only one in this quiet, solitary, connected world. Listening to "Tokyo" on repeat makes a lonely night beautiful.
I drive around downtown mostly. Just a few blocks from the Mag Mile I saw this…
Where did you come from???
Euphoria
Hello my lovely night time city. As I was wandering around I felt inexplicably happy. Euphoria was playing and it just fit so well with my mood. I'm not always in a great mood. I've been melancholy lately, but ah! What a beautiful (cold) night to be out. The houses look so cozy and bright.
Walking in this neighborhood by my house. The yellow doors made me smile.

Thank you!!!!
Empty storefronts on my walk. Old bowed glass windows were broken and borded up. The boards were bowed and painted. I'm sad to see these empty buildings, but peoples creativity is inspiring.
My holiday look.
I am getting older.
I try not to fight it--
"Let me age gracefully" I think
As I dye my hair-
Use ever more expensive creams on my face-
Hide my expanding waist behind oversized clothes and squeeze it into 'shapewear' that was never my shape.
My hands begin to tell the story.
I can't hide swollen knuckles-
Heat and pain
Anger at the injustice of age.
It stole sewing from my mother's mother.
It stole warm, hard hugs from my mother's brittle bones.
Holding her like the memory of feathers in my own aging,
gradually,
painfully twisting fingers.
What will age steal from me?
Taking a walk around my neighborhood, I found this! Didn't know it was there. This is why I love taking streets I don't normally walk.
I want sweater weather to last longer!!
Neighborhood Art
I live in an old neighborhood. There are lots of old homes. Mine was built in 1925, and that's sort of the median for the neighborhood there are some older, but few younger homes. There are also railroads and warehouses. It was (and is) a mixed use neighborhood. Over the years, some of the industrial edge has been blunted by art installations and murals painted under various bridges and viaducts.
As I take long walks, I've been trying to document these urban art works.
Some are quite trippy.
Some are sweet, and the neighbors take care of them. They make our neighborhood a more pleasant place to live.
