A bonfire in the middle of a zombie apocalypse with all the best guards and patrolmen? Definitely the worst decision ever made. Sunny didnât like it one bit. It made her uneasy and she was left alone. Well, almost alone. She chose to stand near Sumin far from the fire. Being one of two medical personnel, she gets to know a lot of the people in the community. Wings specifically; since they deliver a lot of the supplies and tend to get more injuries. She also knows the other isnât overly friendly. Which is why Sunny stood behind at a diagonal angle. It was a safe distance. Not too close to crowd her personal space, but not far that Sunny feels isolated and scared.
âIâve never had a bonfire before so I was curious to see what it was like. Itâs pretty, but itâs quite loud over there.â She confesses with a soft smile. âI didnât mean to be a bother. I can let you be.â
sumin doesnât expect a company at all, seeing how everyone is too busy enjoying themselves with the alcohol and music and talking while sheâs here just watching them from afar like this. sheâs not much of a party person, or a people person, so she doesnât think this is helping her to de-stress even for a bit. it seems like a good idea to everyone else though. she turns to look at the medic, offering a warm smile before she replies, âitâs fine, you can stay.â as much as she loves being alone, sumin wouldnât mind a company if they are the right ones, like sunny. âyeah, iâm pretty sure they are only going to get louder by any second, thatâs why iâm here. just gotta run away before shit gets crazy,â she says, letting out a chuckle.
fatehell¡:
there is a certain clarity that comes the smell of smoke  &.  booze. last fragments isolated memories to pull them back to hours spent watching the sunrise over the strand  ,  from their old bedroom window. drunk off of mothers liquor  &.  high on dads pills  &.  they cant help but miss the carefree days of the past.   â  i think we all forgot how to have fun.  â   the days where they would fall asleep as the sun rose  &.  wake mid-afternoon to the age-old comforts of jazz. thereâs a reason why the sun sleeps for so long  ,  because shadows just love to turn even the most mundane into secluded fragments of magic.   â  make some food  ,  please.  â  they ask with wide eyes  ,  lips pressed together.Â
âwell, you canât forget something you never know.â sheâs talking about herself, or maybe she just knows a different kind of fun. but still, sumin knows nothing about going to parties or how to have fun at a place like that. âbut youâre right, maybe we did forget how to have fun after all this crazy shit weâve been through. itâs a tough life.â having to fight those zombies and watch people die before their eyes arenât fun for sure, yet they still manage to move on despite everything. âdoes sandwiches sound good to you? thereâs a reason iâm not a cook in this community, you know.â at least she knows how to make something, even if it is as simple as sandwiches. as long as they keep her tummy filled, itâs already more than enough.
taeyeonwings¡:
Tae furrowed his eyebrows looking at her before looking back at his drink. He was trying to read how much alcohol it had but gave up after a few seconds. âMaybe this is just strong.â he offered as an excuse. Taking a big sip again, he smiled at her. âAre you enjoying this? We thought it would help reduce all the stress.â he pointed at his body as if stress was something visible. Moving to be closer to her, he offered the girl a another smile.
maybe heâs right, but sumin finds it amusing to mess around with him anyways so she gives him a suspicious look, as if questioning his words. âreally? that doesnât look like it would be strong to me,â she continues with a mischievous smirk. at his question, sumin takes a moment before she could answer. âitâs nice,â is the first thing she says. itâs nice, but sumin doesnât sound too pleased with the idea, so maybe sheâs just trying to convince taeyeon (and herself) that this is actually a good idea. âand it does help a little bit, i guess.â that one is an honest opinion, because as much as she loves the thought of letting loose and forgetting the outside world for a hot minute, a small part of her still believes that this is not right.Â
jiye-ong¡:
 - A smile was painted on her lips. Jiyeon walked around the bonfire with a long forgotten drink in her hand, sometimes stopping by to talk to someone or keep an eye and count of those who were already wasted before her eyes landed on a figure that was far from them. As she walked farther away from the fire the drop of temperature could be felt especially after standing so close to the warm red flower. âHeyâ she greeted before she was asked exactly what she was going to ask. A chuckle escaped her mouth. âTotally understandable.â She agreed before sitting down next to her. âYou are not missing muchâŚthey are just getting drunk and some are already doing weird stuff.â
this feels like a wild college party that sheâs dragged into going by a friend and she ends up being the only sober one in here, except she is here because this is where she lives now and apparently sheâs not alone. she chuckles upon hearing jiyeonâs words before saying, âi guess thatâs how party works, i never get it.â sheâs not really fond of going to parties or any gatherings. the idea of being stuck in the same place with people, whether she knows them or not, sounds like a real nightmare comes true. even worse when sumin knows itâs possible for zombies to crash this party at any time, which is why she refuses to drink too much in case something happens. âi hope they are not doing anything too weird,â she says, letting out a soft laugh. âhow about you? are you enjoying the party? or do you find it annoying as much as i do too?â she turns to look at jiyeon, a friendly smile on her face.
fcllcnstar¡:
She laughed the moment she heard Sumin sigh and groan, it wasnât at all a surprise. â Yeah, yeah, and how many times do I have to tell everybody that knowing how to dance doesnât matter? â She said that happily, still not resigning in her plan of making her dance, but it was true Kitty had told the same words too many times to too many people it was almost tiring. â Itâs not about dancing like a professional! And everybody knows how to dance, you only need to feel the music and let go â, she showed Sumin her own moves, slightly bouncing to the muted rhythm. â See? Itâs fun. Arenât we supposed to have fun tonight? â
thank god sumin isnât easily persuaded, so none of those things kitty says has an effect on her. âclearly i am not everybody, so i donât know how to dance or feel the music and let go.â if kitty is going to be persistent about this, then sumin wouldnât want to give up too. it is not just something that she doesnât know how to do, but also doesnât want to: kitty might have forgotten about that part. âyeah, that looks fun for you. why donât you dance and i watch you? youâre really good at this,â she tells the female. âand iâm really good at watching.â
truth to be told, sumin isnât entirely sure if this is even a good idea. a bonfire in the middle of zombie apocalypse? of course, that doesnât sound ridiculous at all. everyone around her is laughing and talking and she doesnât know what could be worse, but sheâs doing none of that. instead she chooses to sit all by herself a little too far from the bonfire, that is until someone else shows up. âwhy arenât you with the others?â she asks, knowing that they could ask her the same thing back. âitâs just too much for me, you know. iâm not really into that kind of shit,â she breathes out, taking a sip of her soju.
taeyeonwings¡:
It had been too long since the last time he had actually had a moment like this. Where all that was in his mind was relaxing and having some fun. And all was possible because of the alcohol, allowing him to clear his mind of any and all responsible thoughts. âBest supply run ever.â he stated, raising his bottle happily. âThe sun is still only setting and I can say that Iâm already feeling this. I think all this time without drinking made me a lightweight.â He chuckled, but in truth, he had already drank half the bottle himself so that was likely why he felt more at ease.
sumin couldnât help but laugh at the leaderâs words. she canât even remember the last time she has drank alcohol, but that doesnât mean sheâs going to get herself drunk, not when those zombies are still on the loose. itâs not like she doesnât trust the other guards --- a part of her just feels like she needs to watch over them too, and she canât do that if she ends up getting wasted like everyone else. sumin has only taken small sips from her bottle at this point, so itâs safe to say that sheâs still pretty much sober compared to taeyeon. âare you sure youâre not a lightweight to begin with?â she asks, tone playful.
fatehell¡:
the stretch of thier skin is thin   ,   crucified   &.   maddened from swollen passion  ,   an itch that makes them smile from a mouth stained peach ripe from liquor   ;  the warmth of the liquor holds their body up the way pillars curve temples towards the sun. the sound of rustling in the room makes them rise thier body like Lazarus   ,   eyes blinking to get used to heavens light from the ceiling. mind fuzzy from their red god   ,   trying to figure out which person was the one that they should talk to. three forming into one   ,   ebbing back out to three. their vision like the tide  ,  coming  &.   going. thoughts are crashing against their skull   &.  their lips parted to speak.   â come       come here  ,   im trying to get some fucking food. im starving â   their words are fuzzy in their mouth   ,  each letter feeling like cotton ball foam in the back of their throat.
this is bad, sumin keeps repeating to herself. it is no surprise that sheâs nothing near optimistic, so she doesnât get how these people think that itâs fine to let their guards down for a while and have fun. itâs not like sheâs trying to ruin the party though. for the first time everyone seems less intense and more happy, except for sumin, but sheâs just gonna blend in and hope nobody would bug her or something right now --- somehow haneul is quick enough to notice her before she could run away, so she decides maybe she should stay for a bit. âyou seem to be having a lot fun, huh?â she lets out a small laugh before adding, âdamn right. food sounds really good right now. we donât want you to starve yourself at a fun party like this.â
fcllcnstar¡:
â Come on, itâs not like Iâm asking for the moon! â she whined just a little bit as she slightly tried to pull the other personâs arm, an almost emptied bottle on her other hand. Katherine beamed. The improvised party, the people having fun, the alcohol -she wasnât drunk, but for sure was feeling a bit tipsy-, it all pumped her up; and the moment she had heard the sound of a guitar and an improvised box drum, she simply couldnât contain herself. â Just let go and dance with me â she repeated her previous petition.
sumin mutters a quiet oh god before rolling her eyes lazily at the other female. she doesnât like this situation. she has no problem with people getting drunk or having fun, but once she got dragged by these people to do something as stupid as dancing, now that is a problem to sumin. âhow many times do i have to tell you that i donât dance?â she tells kitty, another sigh leaving her lips. âi really donât know how to and i donât even want to, so there you go. iâm not gonna dance with you, kitty. just find another volunteer.â and just leave me alone.

âI have to say, nothing has done more wonders for my body than end of the world hunger. I think if the wind blows hard enough I might fly away.â he said in a serious tone, staring at the vegetables on his plate. Sure, they had to ration what they had to survive, but at what cost? âOh, lettuce again. Yummy.â
sumin knows sheâs not the most likable person around here, but at least she doesnât whine about small things and make it a big deal. thatâs why when she hears someone talking, probably not to himself if he says it that loud, she decides she needs to respond. âeven if there is no wind, i think you would still be flying away if you donât stop talking.â sumin turns her head to look at the male as she chews on her food. âiâm kinda good at making people fly,â she says, keeping a poker face. âjust say the word and iâll do the honors.â with that being said, sumin shifts her attention back to finish the vegetables on her plate. what a moron.
jilhees¡:

those darn kids. jilhee wasnât one to hate the children of the camp, absolutely not. actually, more often than not, you could find her spending some time with them, especially those that lost their parents. but there was a particular group of kids who loved playing pranks on everyone around camp and today? she happened to be their victim. the moment she saw her cane had disappeared from her chair, she knew she would have to go on a hunt for it, and hunt for it she did. she walks around camp at a steady step, not to fast, not too slow, actually glad she can exercise her leg this way. and then, she sees it, except itâs not on the ground or some secret hideout, âhey, you have something that belongs to me,â she says, tilting her head at the person whoâs holding her cane in their hands, âiâve been looking for it everywhere. can i have it back, please?â
sumin was just passing by the area when she found the cane among the bushes, unsure if it belongs to anyone until the woman speaks to her. âthis is yours?â she asks, not really expecting someone like her to use a cane, but sheâs not one to question much. handing over the cane to the woman, she says, âhere you go. i donât know why itâs among the bushes, but you might want to be extra careful so you donât lose it again.â it takes sumin a moment to recognize the woman as the kingdomâs cook --- she doesnât go around the place often to talk to people, so sheâs not sure if the woman would know her. âyouâre the cook, right? iâm sumin,â she introduces herself, smiling softly. god, she really needs to socialize more with people.
â Why are you always so pessimistic? â

Jaehwa, admittedly, could too easily relate to the restlessness that she knew the rest of the Wings were going through as they began to settle into place with the Kingdom. Staying in one place for so long was something that they werenât used to in the slightest, and there were so many things that could go wrong, so many different possibilities that were weighing on Jaehwaâs consciousness, tugging at her anxieties. But she trusted Taeyeonâs judgement, and she knew how long the people of the Kingdom had managed to stay here with minimal disaster. And so she was hopeful. Sumin was being short with her, and as hurtful as that was, the younger understood why. Theyâd both loved Suminâs father, both mourned the loss, but the difference was that Jaehwa had played a part in his death. For that she wasnât sure she could ever forgive herself, and she didnât expect to get forgiveness from Sumin either. But maybe just the ability to have a civil conversation with the older woman would be nice? âI get that, I do, but you really need to eat. We all need to keep our strength up if weâre ever gonna get anything done. Youâre worrying everyone, skipping meals like this.â
it has been a year since her father passed away but sumin still remembers it like it was yesterday, the sight of him getting dragged away by those zombies would always linger in her mind, because how the hell is she supposed to forget something like that? heâs been with her for her whole life and now that heâs gone, she feels like a big part of her just dies along with him. having jaehwa around only makes it worse, knowing that her father died protecting the younger girl. itâs unfair to blame jaehwa, she knows. itâs not like it makes her feel better, or if it would bring her father back. sometimes she blames herself too. maybe he wonât die if she tried harder to get them off him, but they were a lot of them, those things, and the wings had to move on before another person died there. she doesnât like how jaehwa is trying to reach out to her, not when all she does is insult her back. âiâm fine, okay?â this time her voice sounds sharp, almost like sheâs snapping at jaehwa. âi donât know what you are trying to do, but just fucking stop.â she exhales, looking away from the female. âiâm doing my job pretty well in case youâre not aware, so i donât know why would anyone be worried.â please just go away.
taeyeonwings¡:
Tae looks at her, focusing on her words before sighing and dropping the map. âI admit defeat. For the time being.â he stated, his hands on his face before he looks at her again. âOkay, Iâll get back to it tomorrow. Maybe then I can figure out what we should do about this.â He knew that resting was his best chance to find the solution to the problem, considering how right now he could barely think straight. âI wish we could all just take a break. Go on vacation. Just relax.â he admits, sighing once more. After the outbreak every day was tough. There wasnât a day when they could just relax, have fun and not think about their problems or what is going on. Even when he tried to have fun, he kept being reminded of their reality. âHow about you? Are you going to rest?â he questioned, curiously. He knew that he had a lot of responsibility but so did everyone else. One person does their job wrong and what they have here could collapse. Not to mention they were all overworked most days. âYou should rest.â
itâs a relief to know that taeyeon just accepts her suggestion without any argument, and it makes her smile a little more upon seeing him put down the map. âthat sounds great. youâll figure out something for sure, you always do.â and if not, iâm sure jaehwa can help you, or iâll try too. the last sentence doesnât come out though, but instead she says, âthatâs why you are the leader.â itâs a big responsibility and she finds her words to sound a little selfish, itâs as if sheâs pushing all this pressure on him just because he leads the wings. âa vacation sounds really nice,â she agrees, nodding slowly. âitâll be a dream comes true if we ever get to go on a real vacation one of these days. maybe weâll get a vacation once this shit is over, i mean, if it would ever be over.â it doesnât make sense to believe that this would never end, but then they never know if things are gonna get better or worse in the future. âdonât worry about me, iâll be fine.â itâs a lie she always tells people, although in a way it does have its truth. âiâm pretty sure my guard shift starts in a few hours so i might just stay awake until then,â she tells the leader. âiâll rest when iâm done.â itâs hard to even take a rest nowadays, so it doesnât really matter.
hanmxxns¡:
Hanbin internally cringed at the response, eyes averting to look anywhere except for Suminâs figure beside him. His pride always seemed to take a hit or two every time he was paired with the woman for a shift, never able to catch a break. Perhaps he was a bit annoying sometimes but goddamn did Sumin get a kick out of calling him out for it. âI dunno, âcause itâs more fun that just sitting here,â he muttered under his breath, almost too quiet to pick up over the rustle of the wind. âHey now, donât be such a pessimist. Iâve done it before! In middle school. At a carnival. Iâm sure it canât be that hard.â
sumin doesnât work well with talkative people, not when she would prefer silence over some conversation she doesnât care to keep. talking is not really her thing, and it doesnât help that every time she opens her mouth things are only going to get bad or worse. âin middle school? how long was that? i mean yeah, good for you i guess, but things can change, you know. maybe youâre not as good anymore.â sometimes sumin wonders why sheâs so negative about everything, because truth to be told she doesnât know either. âif you insist, i guess you can show off that talent of yours and weâll see whether youâre right or not.â
AFTER SUNDOWN
kdjaein¡:
(...)
like a trail of crumbs, jaein follows the spray painted trees that lead back to the safe area of their region. âto think weâre living in the apocalypse and the world still looks⌠normal.â she comments, looking around at the beautiful greenery the world continues to produce despite the change of weather and the change of the world as a whole. itâs a thought sheâs never gotten used to. âtoo bad itâs notâŚâ she says to herself, pulling on the rope forward on her shoulder as she continues to walk in silence. to others, this forest would seem like a maze, but even without the markers, jaein has walked these paths long enough to recognize little landmarks to know how to get back home. and like others in the newly formed group, jaein could recognize things out of the norm- things that just do not belong. âhey, suminâŚâ her words come out as whispers as she stops walking and looks at a piece of grey clothing in front of them. âwhat is that?â she slowly walks towards the clothing, noticing the fresh crimson coloration in patches throughout the clothing. âthe blood is fresh⌠someoneâs in danger.â jaein turns over at her partner with a worried expression washing over her.
itâs just another day for sumin, another day to go through as they move forward with their life no matter how hard it is. this time she goes out with jaein to get some fish and clean water for the people, hoping it would help them survive for a few more days, given that they are already running out of supplies now. âyeah, i think we did great.â she nods, lips spreading into a soft smile as she looks at jaein carrying the fish. itâs an evening spent well, she would admit, to be able to just be outside and breathe fresh air like this. sumin and jaein have quite a blast catching the fish --- itâs not something she used to do before, but who knows catching a fish would be this entertaining? only when she gets the fish, of course. perhaps she could do this again, with jaein or by herself, knowing that she isnât so bad at fishing now.Â
upon hearing jaeinâs next words, she laughs softly before asking, âso what if we got into trouble? are you afraid?â she teases jaein, one brow raised as she looks at the other girl. sumin isnât the goody two shoes type, although she might seem like it. sometimes she enjoys breaking the rules just for the sake of having fun, because apparently itâs really tempting to do something that you shouldnât be doing, so itâs not a surprise that sumin wouldnât mind if they end up getting into trouble for going back late to the camp. she herself wishes that she could be out here for a longer time, but they need to bring back these fish and clean water now, so maybe they would just come out to play another time. âif you are, i guess we canât be friends anymore then.â itâs crazy how they used to fight each other back then when they first met, but now they are getting along just fine, as if they never had bad blood in the first place.Â
âwell, thatâs because itâs not the end of the world,â she pauses, trying to ignore the weight sheâs carrying in both hands right now. âitâs the end of humanity.â itâs dark, she knows, but thatâs just how it is. thatâs why the world still looks the same despite how many people, or things, are dying out there. maybe itâs because this area is still considered safe so it is not yet ruined by those zombies, thus why it still looks normal to them. sumin is snapped back into reality when she hears jaein speaking again, and the question that follows causes her to look down to find a blood stained clothing. âoh, shit. do you think theyâre still around?â she looks at jaein, only to hear a scream not too far from where they are. âletâs go!â she tells the other girl and drops the water containers sheâs holding, quickly running towards the direction in which the voice comes from as one hand whips out the dagger from her jacket, her eyes staring in horror at the sight of zombies surrounding a teenager. this is a fucking nightmare.
