YAKKO.

“Good question,” he said as he rubbed the back of his head for a second, “Yeah. She and I hang out every once in a while. Go to the mall and stuff. It’s mostly just so we can keep Logan from attempting to harm Wade for at least several hours. It’s also because she and my brother used to date in 1995. I kinda owe her for putting up with him.”

“Well, at the very least you have made a good friend out of the situation, right? If it weren’t for your brother dating her – then you wouldn’t have met someone to go and hang out at the mall with!” Yukio always had to look at the bright side when it came to things like this. “Hey, think of it this way. Had I not taken out nearly an entire cities electricity back when I was younger, I may not have gained the family I have now.”

VICTORIA.

              the other woman’s.. excitable behavior caused the reporter to lift an eyebrow, expression remaining neutral for the most part as she awaited yukio to move aside from the door. wordlessly she took out a small notebook, taking note of the appearance looking clean, and.. well stocked, evidently.

“   if the professor trusts you then i shall as well, yukio.   ”   her words were after a pause, though she did give a hesitant smile to look at least a little bit comfortable. 

“   i’m fine, thank you, i don’t need anything. is this the communal kitchen for the.. gifted, students? or is there a separate area for staff and one for student?   ”

The question catches her off guard – was that normal to have two kitchens?

“Well if the Professor is holding out on a super top-secret kitchen – then I might need to have a word with him!” A small, admittingly nervous, chuckle escapes from her.  She couldn’t get a good read on Victoria so she wasn’t entirely sure if humor was really her thing.

“But to seriously answer your question, no. Just the one kitchen – though I quite like it. Being a teacher here I do love to teach and if any of the students take an interest in baking, I gladly love to lend them a hand. Every area is a common area – for the most part. We like to treat everyone in Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngster’s as if they were part of a large family. I know many of the students, like myself, were tossed out of their homes for what they were. Here we try to embrace every last student for who they are and encourage them to do the same towards one another.”

For some, she supposed, the large happy family aspect was reachable – then again, just like any family, there were always those who preferred to seek solace.

“Just like the dining room – we don’t necessarily have large family dinners every night. But for those who prefer that setting, its available.” She smirks, “Would you care to see the kitchen?”

JAS.

“All of Tokyo’s power?” The red-head deadpanned with awe yet astonishment. “Come ti chiami Saint Lucy? E ancora più importante, come stai non statico?“ A cliche Italian tone escaped his throat, though it was genuine. Tokyo was known for its technological advances, no doubt requiring dubious amounts of electricity. To absorb it and live to tell the tale was a testament–a reassuring one at that.

Following along, Jas saw some other students pass by, giggling and moving about. It made Jasper smile a little. “They look really content to be here…” He wishfully marveled.

A smile graces her lips at the exclamation – had anyone told her all those years ago that she was capable of that kind of power, she probably would have rolled her eyes and laughed. “Well, all of it is what I’m told. How true that is,” she shrugs, “I guess I will never know. I do know that it was at least the downtown district – I read about the damage on the news once I was able to. Taking in all that power and dispelling it really knocked me out. The Professor said I had been out for days.”

Watching his eyes wander she nods enthusiastically, “I would like to think so. I know for me it was marvelous to come into a place where I could be myself – no judgement. Everyone here comes in to learn; how to handle their powers, to learn about the world, to learn whatever intrigues them. It can be a tough transition for some, but it does seem like everyone loves to be here. And in all honesty, I think you will grow to love it here too… I mean, if you decide to stay that is.”

RAIN.

Being here was definitely a new experience for Rain. It wasn’t the first time that she had been so close to other mutants, but it was the first time that she had been around those that acted like this. Though, honestly, the pink haired woman standing in front of her now was probably the first person that Rain had ever met that acted like that, mutant or not. Not that it was bad, it was just… Different. And she wasn’t sure how she felt about that yet.

“Oh, uhm, thank you.” Said as she takes one of the cookies in a gentle hand, looking it over for a moment. It was cute, and definitely not the kind of thing she was used to. She also wasn’t really used to people talking to her like this, but she didn’t really mind it. It was nice, having someone smile at you as brightly as she was. Even if Rain didn’t full trust it.

( Still, it takes her a moment before taking a bite. Breaking routines or rules wasn’t something she was usually allowed to do, but if the elder said it was okay, that meant it was fine. Right? )

“I uh, I slept okay.” A simple answer, even though it’s not quite the truth. She hadn’t been able to sleep much at all since getting here, but it wasn’t like she slept much before that. “How uhm, was yours?” That’s how you were supposed to carry a conversation, right?

“You are most welcome – it’s the least we can do to get you all settled in and hopefully feeling at home.” Even though she knew from experience that it wasn’t as simple as making a batch of cookies and flashing a smile. “My sleep was quite fine, thank you!” A giggle leaves her as she smirks – normally she was used to students just mumbling their answers and giving an ever so slight roll of their eyes when she asked, so having one ask how hers was in return was remarkably pleasant; even if she did appear to be a bit on edge – nerves maybe.

“Since the Professor put me in charge, I want to make sure that I hear you all out. Make sure your needs are met appropriately – whether or not they are creature comforts or something more mutation centric.” Her grin only grows as she softly chuckles, “When I first came here – the Professor had to learn the hard way that having a backup generator for the backup generator was a good idea.”

A brief pause as she watches her – she was roughly Rain’s age when she had made the trip over from Japan, there was something about that simple fact that tugged at her heart strings.

“If there is anything that you need or you want. You make sure to let me know – I want to make sure that you feel right at home. I know, or well rather, I have heard stories of the Essex House. I have never experienced them myself, but I was about your age when I came here from Japan. So, I know what it’s like to feel a little out of sorts being in a new place surrounded by new people you don’t know.”

Of course, sharing her story might be a good way to get her to open up – but she had to try something.

“Do you like stuffed animals?” Her brow quirked in question – she might be an adult herself, but every little girl loved to have something soft that would help to protect them, right?

The short & sweet of it is that I’m so thankful for all of you ; you keep me going and you push me to be a better writer every day . they’re too young now, only sixteen – but, one day, mary jane hopes that they’ll get married. sure, they haven’t talked about it … peter would probably collapse in shock if he heard her talk - ing about marriage. but a girl can day - dream, right ? 

       after all – peter parker is the only        person mj would ever consider ge -        tting married too. 

he’s not exactly  prince charming, but … mj would argue, he’s even BETTER.

definitely disney world. 

“Oh! A beach wedding would be lovely, then again, I definitely agree with you about Disney World! Though, I don’t think when that day comes for me, I’ll be able to get Ellie to see it my way for a Disney World wedding.” Though she bites her lower lip and wonders if that would actually be in the cards for their wedding – maybe she could say just enough to get her girlfriend to agree to it. Either way – she figured it never hurt to be ahead of the game when it came to planning something so entirely important.

“Outdoor weddings are beautiful, most of the weddings we have are on the grounds of the X-Mansion.”

Though if she were honest, the X-Mansion was entirely gorgeous and wouldn’t say no to sticking to something that had become a tradition, in a sense, to her family.

“I hear Disney World can get crowded in the summer, but I’m sure there’s a way to work a little magic to get a space not so crowded.”

But was that an option? She wasn’t entirely sure but she figured for the right price just about anything was possible.

“I’m assuming if you’re going outdoors you’re thinking a Spring or Summer wedding?”

“You mean other cosplayers? No not really, I was surprised to see you wandering around like this in this area honestly.” Yeap she thought they were just dressing up still. “I do love Yukio though, great choice overall.” She added with a small smile.

“Is there a convention or something going on that I hadn’t heard about?”

“Oh, thank you! I– “she pauses, realizing that the woman actually believed she was just dressed up like Yukio – when she was in fact Yukio herself. Of course, she had never had the opportunity to go to any conventions – but Wade had told her plenty about them and how there were always many people dressed up as Deadpool’s and could be found flirting with Spiderman characters.

“Actually, no, no convention in town I’m afraid.” Yukio giggles – though nervously because how do you explain much less prove you were the real deal?

“I am very much actually Yukio and very much an X-Men.” She nods – that should do the trick, right? “I’ve just lost my team. Colossus, Negasonic, and myself were trying to locate the Juggernaut – he…. Escaped from a transport from the Ice Box not too long ago… and well,” she sighs, “from a pool I thought I had electrocuted him in.”

YAKKO.

Yep. This was sounding super familiar now. He had known a few mutants in his day. Actual ones, and not toons who played them. He had met a couple Xavier students, too. How should he put this without sounding too desperate?

“Uhhhhhh….. do you happen to know Jubilation Lee? She and I are good friends. Well, for the most part. She and I hang out every once in a while. She’s really cool.”

“You know, I’ve heard of Jubilation Lee but I haven’t had the pleasure of actually meeting her yet.” She shrugs simply, “I hear she was rather an important part of the first team of X-Men… and that she’s a force to be reckoned with. But other than that, I don’t know much about her aside from her powers – when I first came to the X-Mansion and learning I was keen to learn all that I could about past and present Mutant’s along with their mutations… It was one of the things that piqued my curiosity. Are you and Jubilee still close?”

CABLE.

      “ I’m not sure. My relationship with the X-Men is… complicated. ”

   Mysterious as ever, he left out the part where his ‘relationship’ with the X-Men was a literal, familial relationship. Cyclops and Phoenix didn’t know it yet, but they were his parents, and bumping into them could prove awkward.

      “ I’ll probably set up a safehouse. Stay with Wade if he’ll let me, in the meantime. ” 

Yukio wondered what the complication could be – but on the other hand, knew it wasn’t her place to ask those questions, if Cable saw fit to tell her he would, and until then she would respect that.

“Wade has plenty of safe houses to choose from,” she smirks, “or so I’m told rather. Hopefully you both could work something out and figure out which would be the best fit for you… Plus, you’ll have to let us know. Cause we will want to make sure you’re doing ok – and I make some delicious cookies that I’ll have to drop off for you at some point so you can try them.” A grin as she tilts her head, “I mean, you will want company, right?” Maybe Cable wasn’t the company type.

☺ ✖ – “My sweet precious ball of sunshine- I didn’t even know I owed you. How could I forget such a thing? I’m honestly terrible-” He’s chastising himself, but his fingers are dancing across the screen of his phone.           “- and a cheap piece of shit won’t do it. Absolutely not. Only the best- There. Done. Give it two hours. Dopinder is on it.” 

Even though Yukio had been pulling Wade’s leg – she most certainly wouldn’t turn down some free stickers. Especially when those stickers came in unicorn shapes. All happy and glittering away – not a care in the world.

“Ah! Tell Dopinder I say Hello!” She bounces excitedly – more for the fact that she’d be getting some unicorn stickers out of this, but because she also hadn’t seen Dopinder since the “Brown Panther” incident of 2018 or better known as the Essex House incident.

“You know – you should really bring him around more often… But he should really drop that Kirsten Dunst thing… It’s a little creepy.”

             “I’ll hang it up, for sure,” he grins, clutching the paper to his chest like it’s a newborn. Though given the sentimentality of it, it really might as well be - it’s damn precious, that’s for sure. “This sucker’s going in my favorite safe house. Right next to the napalm.”

Napalm sticks to little chii-iiiildren! All the children of the world!

“ - So not the time. Uh, yeah, I mean, I don’t know, Yukio. Do you really think that’s a good idea? Not that I don’t want to, just - everybody’s kind of got a point.” Rubbing at the back of his head guiltily, he shrugs, a little bit helpless for once. “I’d never hurt a kid. Ever. Even though auditory and visual hallucinations are my jam! But, for real, I am so bad at censorship. And I have no idea what’s appropriate conversation for all ages.”

[ The current global politcal climate? ]

“That is safe for no age! Shit idea, yellow box!”

Sometimes Yukio had absolutely NO idea what Wade was rambling about – this was one of those times. A shake of her head as she listened on, lips quirking into a small smile. Despite not knowing what was happening half of the time, she still couldn’t keep from smiling.

“Look, you are great with the kids. They love you. If they didn’t they wouldn’t have drawn this picture for you. Besides, you’ll have me there by your side – The Professor has made me your official…. Liaison at the Mansion.”

Nervously chuckling her eyes deviate from Wade – really, she didn’t have the heart to tell him the Professor asked her to babysit him. She was, after all, the only person who could get Wade to listen.

Yukio wasn’t entirely sure how she obtained THAT power – but she couldn’t resist spending some time with her favorite red-clad anti-hero; even if he was a bit over the top at times.

“Plus, we could think of it as a bonding day. And I know just how much you love to see Piotr and Ellie.”

KURT.

kurt never fails to be impressed by the innate abilities his fellow mutants have, no matter how many times he sees them. it’s always like a kind of magic - and never so pretty as something like making a string of lights illuminate with a touch.

“aw, there have been so many incidents, but if it was a bad one, i won’t ask. only know that i’ve broken so much property here, i am probably in debt to the professor for life.” he beams widely, adjusting the bundle of lights. and if she can help him find more?

“you know what— that would be perfect. for even as long as i’ve been here, the world of downstairs is a frightening one. kind of like a maze, yeah?” he snorts. “but yes. yes please. let’s go find some lights, so tonight’s production of shakespeare’s midsummer does not have to take place in total darkness.”

“Trust me! I know just what that maze is like!” A giggle as her head tugs towards the stairs, “Don’t worry, I’m not afraid to tell my stories. I figure we have all had our fair share of mishaps since learning how to utilize them… When I first came here as a small girl, I couldn’t figure out how to control my absorption or figure out how to keep from absorbing too much. I spent quite a bit of time in one Jean Gray’s observation rooms… we learned that I could dispel electricity in quite a few ways.” Another giggle as she shakes her head, “But don’t I know what that owing the Professor for life feels like… I’m pretty sure I fried some of Jean’s equipment that first week.” Still she winces – despite not knowing how to correctly make her mutation work for her, it still made her feel bad to know she had ruined something so expensive and useful.

“We had to experiment. Learned that I could dispel with bolts and the like… that I could use it to my advantage for bursts of speed.” She shrugs, “I ran around that maze more times than I would care to admit. I could probably get us out blindfolded!” A giggle as she leads the way down to one of the small, little known, storage areas within the Mansion.

“I actually saw them putting these away after Christmas one year – do you remember the one? There was a freak thunderstorm going on outside?”

          midtown gets it’s visitors  ,   that’s not uncommon. visiting parents  ,   occasional news crews  ,   administration  ,   etc. but the girl in front of her didn’t strike michelle as any of those options. or the etc group. lost girl by the look of it  ,   michelle’s almost tempted to ask if peter pan’s around. or a cosplay convention. either one seem likely at this point with her bright hair and the outfit. especially the outfit. that or no one told her the avengers got a new member.

          “   uh .. .     do you mean time square ??   “          queens didn’t really have a town center. it wasn’t even a town & if she was looking for time square  ,   she must be really lost considering that’s about 12 train stops over.

“That is exactly where I’m looking to go.” She nods, though she’s a tad out of breath from the hit to her ribs – really it was lucky for her that she was able to work her mutation to her advantage when she was about to land. A wince on her face as she looks around, of course there was nothing in sight that would even appear to point her in the right direction. “Definitely need to get back before my team worries I died.” Yukio laughs – though it was a funny joke to her she did pause, realizing that it wasn’t necessarily a funny joke to anyone else. “Think you could point me in the right direction? Can’t say I’ve spent much time away from the X-Mansion unfortunately.”
