We need to talk about Gu Won's journey to heal himself in the latest episodes. When Hwa Ran taunted him, he knew what Yoon Ji-hu must be feeling so he took him to a picnic (Won and Sa-rang make an adorable family and they’ll be good at parenting,) and gave him the best advice: be brave, cry, and tell people how you feel. 

Next, when Won met his mother after all these years, he was kind of in his mother's situation, so he understood her, but then when he left the room, he allowed himself to feel the depth of what just happened and he cried and had a breakdown then he went back to her because he needed to hug her and he felt she needed it, too. He needed closure.

Later, when he met Sa-rang after three weeks, he told her that he met his mother the moment they sat down. And I love him for this, for sharing every part of his life with the woman he loves.

I love that he chooses to communicate not only to have a healthy romantic relationship but also to connect with his mother.

hot take pride and prejudice isn’t a story about two people who hate each other getting married despite their hate. pride and prejudice is a story about a rich, privileged guy getting called on his privilege and toxic masculinity by the woman he admires and then actually listening to her, taking steps to correct his own toxic masculine behavior, and using his wealth and privilege to rectify the “missing stair” problem he caused by allowing a predator to operate unchecked in his community. he specifically takes action, pays money, and does work without asking for credit or using it to point-score, because he realizes that his job as a privileged person is to protect vulnerable people, especially women. and THAT is what changes his crush’s mind about him, because he does the work and becomes a person she can respect, love, and be proud of. thanks for coming to my TED talk
