“unions drowned out the voice of the individual 🥺” I can promise you employers were not listening to the voice of the individual to begin with
I have said it before and I shall say it again: capitalists love "individualism" only insofar as "the Individual" is easy to dominate. Strangely, their objections against collectivism disappear when it's corporations that are at play.
Bisan just posted four videos on Instagram and is saying that they might be the last updates from Gaza since the Israeli army destroyed any way that could have been used to generate electricity including solar panels
bakeries were threatened that if they opened that they would be bombed. they ran out of petroleum and wheat and once they obtained some stock, they were bombed. no clean water to drink for four days now. water that can be obtained is not clean or drinkable. Israeli army dropped more phosphorus bombs and gas went all over Gaza. Bisan said her eyes, nose and mouth are burning and she has a headache. people are coughing and trying to find ways to cover themselves from breathing it in. paper notices were dropped telling people in Gaza that they have to evacuate and it's their last chance to go south, walking without using any vehicle. she said it's planned and all elements of genocide. this is awful
she said that even if they survive the white phosphorus, the bombing, that there is no food or clean water to drink and the only water they have is salt water from the sea. that they're trying to kill people with hunger and thirst and making them sick. from the beginning of the war they ate once a day but that's no longer the case. there are no products, no food, no aid, there's nothing. people are dying from hunger and there is zero aid that enters through
If you haven't heard a National March on Washington in solidarity with Palestine is being planned for Nov. 4. If you can't make it (like me) consider donating to ANSWER Coalition to cover transportation costs for buses to help get as many people to the march as possible.
Act Now to Stop War & End Racism
mostly this behavior is worrying bc adults like that who choose not to learn media literacy or get better at critical thinking are easier targets for propaganda and misinformation and in relation to what’s happening in gaza and the kind of comments ive seen and post made by uninformed users on here it’s so very clear your adversity to knowledge is dangerous you not being able to read articles and discern whether or not it was written in a tone to paint a different picture than what happened is a huge problem, being unable to look at an article titled x amount of israelis killed, x amount of palestinians died” and not immediately pick up on the change in language trying to sway your thoughts is scary, it is not quirky or cute to have poor media literacy, you people are voting age and saying lol after stating you can’t read critically, you are so much more dangerous than you even understand
a few days ago i saw someone on here say that isreal officials calling palestinians cockroaches has no significant meaning and it makes me so worried for the state of the world you people can’t even identify the red flags of fascism even when it’s directly in front of you and you think it’s funny your media literacy is low as if that very mindset isn’t what makes u “accidentally” support genocides and regurgitate everything politicians tell you, it is that deep bc this behavior spreads to every facet of your life even when you don’t notice it
“I’ve never seen anything like it,” said Josh Paul, a former top State Department official.
Me when I'm definitely not about to arm genocidal fascists with copious amounts of chemical and bioweapons banned under international law.
After being starved and imprisoned in blockade for months, 120,000 indigenous Armenians in Artsakh just faced mass deportation and ethnic cleansing at the hands of Azerbaijan, aided by their brother country Turkey and supplied military aid by a third genocidal country, Israel. Noting that in case my American friends think this is a small regional conflict-- guess who funds Israel?
Artsakh will be dissolved on January 1st, 2024 and for the first time in 3,000 years, it will be void of Armenians. Hard to put the pain into words. Turkey and Azerbaijan will not stop here, as pan-turkic doctrine claims all of Armenia as theirs. Armenian existence threatens the fabric of Azeri (and Turkish) national identity so it is no surprise they want to annihlate us again.
With the violent occupation of Artsakh, our ancient holy sites will be desecrated and our history rewritten while major news outlets will find pretty words for genocide like "conflict" or "war". No one will punish Azerbaijan's war crimes, no one will remember white phosphorous rain on our homes. And the perpetrators will continue to live a lie.
I think denial is a fragile basis for any relationship, to a person or to a land. What is built on a foundation of denial will break under enough tension, after enough time. I believe we'll be back someday.
And we are our mountains. I think they will always remember us.
Leslie Feinberg speech at the Al-Fatiha international retreat in Washington DC, 2002

Israeli settlers - who live illegally on Palestinian land and shouldn’t be there in the first place - regularly destroy and uproot olive trees belonging to Palestinians, often striking at night to go unnoticed.
Olive trees are a livelihood for many families, and a key component of the Palestinian economy. That’s how they are meant to survive.
These attacks are by no means limited to agriculture. They also burn and vandalize churches, mosques, homes, cars and… cemeteries.
I saved the worst for last. Israeli soldiers escort Israeli settlers to attack Palestinians then stand by and watch, if not join in too.
According to the UN the annual rate of Israeli settler attacks against Palestinians has almost quadrupled in eight years.

I was asked why there's a zionist claim that the Palestininian identity is not legitimate. And I think it's important to understand why Palestinians as a whole are seen as a threat by Israel. To understand why it's not about Hamas.
The claim is that the Palestininian identity was made up in order to push us out. Palestinian existence is a threat to the legitimacy of Israel as a country.
I was taught in school that Palestine was empty when we got here. They used a Mark Twain quote. It was a barren land full of swamps and some nomadic people (Beduins) but as soon as we wanted to come here, the awful antisemitic Arabs sent people to settle here before we could to take up the space. I was in school in the settlements though. I was taught the most extreme version of this.
Another version of this is that Palestine was never its own thing, they're just Arabs the same as all Arabs from the surrounding countries. So they could just... scooch over and give us the space, please and thank you. In Israel no one uses the term Palestinian. If I do, people roll their eyes and dismissively go "Arab." An Arab is an Arab. It's a way to strip away their unique identity and blend them in with the rest to say they could always move to Jordan, or Syria, or Lebanon, and it's all the same to them.
It's a way to make Palestinian existence by itself into a malicious plot to deny us a homeland.
Because if Palestinians exist as a distinct group of people, we aren't the only ones with a connection to this land. And you don't create an ethnostate by sharing.
You still hear echoes of this mentality. Why won't all these Muslim countries take the people of Gaza as refugees? That's asking why they won't let Israel make its ethnic cleansing more neat and convenient. Yes, refugees should be taken in and given shelter. But this question shifts responsibility away from Israel. Palestinians shouldn't be forced suffer either ethnic cleansing that leaves them as refugees, or a genocide.
you can tell that this is explicitly genocidal rhetoric because it’s what the white colonisers of australia used to justify their invasion and theft of land. they called australia “terra nullius”, empty land, uninhabited land. as for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people already living here, well they weren’t people; they were “fauna” (or “human animals”, to parrot a recent phrase). and they were systematically massacred, enslaved, displaced, subjected to apartheid and child removal and eugenics. (only in 1967 did australia change its constitution to recognise Indigenous people as citizens, humans.)
the playbook of empire is the same across the world
We Love Our Land; We Will Fight
palestinians refuse to lose hope, and you need to do the same. it is very difficult to not spiral into despair when it feels like all you can do is watch this unfold on social media but you can't let that happen. you cannot let yourself become numb and exhausted and indifferent. stay furious and stay devastated. hold onto your grief and let it give you the power to keep pushing. to keep protesting, boycotting, calling your state representatives and congress members if you live in the us - you have to stay emotional. israel and the us want to bully you into numbness and despair because that's the key to getting away with this. either get your citizens to accept your propaganda as gospel truth or make them give up the fight.
apathy and doom-spirals only aid in israel and the us's genocide of palestine. you have to keep hoping and you have to keep believing that yes if you try hard enough you can contribute to making a difference. don't look away, and don't give up either, okay? 🇵🇸💗
