⠀⠀⠀Another day spent watching Sonic and his lame friends, another spent wasting time and feeling a quiet yearning turning his stomach into a whirlpool. The emerald hedgehog quietly watched the gang from afar, overhearing their laughter and chatter - jaw tensing and teeth grinding as he grew more and more angry. That hatred had been festering for too long, long enough to make the would-be king feel as though he was wasting his energy. He let a sigh escape his lips, rolling his eyes and resting his chin on the palm of his hand, body leaning forwards onto the bench he'd been sitting at.
⠀⠀⠀Eventually, the group dispersed, leaving only the two hedgehogs - Sonic and Amy - behind. Sonic gave Amy a thumbs-up before disappearing in a puff of smoke, the pink hedgehog being left on her own. Scourge could practically feel how much she wanted to go with him from all the way over here, and yet he consistently left her behind. A smirk spread across the hedgehog's muzzle, realising this could be his opportunity.
⠀⠀⠀Crimson shades came to rest over his eyes as he stood, making his way over to the rosy hedgehog. A sharp-toothed grin cracked his muzzle, his maw full of razor-sharp fangs that almost glistened in the sunlight-- despite his bad-boy attitude, Scourge took his dental hygiene surprisingly seriously.⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀ "Yo, pinky!" He called out as he approached, hands rested comfortably in his pockets, "ol' blue leave ya behind again, huh? Ain't never understood what his damn deal is." He glanced down at Amy as he approached her, a somewhat sinister glint in his eye behind the glass of his shades. "If you were my girl, I'd never leave ya alone like that. Sonic's playin' a chump's game, ya ask me."
⠀⠀⠀Scourge lifted his shades onto his head, his bright blue eyes coming down to meet her emerald orbs. His grin lowered itself into a contained smirk, as his hands came to rest on his hips. A slight lean forward, coupled with his expression, told the story of someone who was after something.
⠀⠀⠀"Whaddya say we stick it to him, huh? You an' me. One date." ⠀⠀⠀
A faint smile was all Amy Rose could give as she sighed in exhaustion. She knew after a long time that it wasn't that Sonic didn't care, rather... He just wasn't the type to sweat the small stuff. Brash, impulsive, forgetful... But maybe she was just the kind of person who worried too much about dotting her i's and crossing her t's.
'I guess he's going to find something exciting to do, and maybe he'll call me in for that too,' A nod of her head as she reassured herself in her head, 'After all, Sonic's reliable in that aspect, at lea—!'
Oh no. Pinky? Besides Rouge, there was only one other person who called her that.
"He did not leave me behind, Scourge," Amy's lips pursed as she puffed her cheeks out, her quills flaring up ever-so-slightly, "And it's not even like we're a thing anyway! I've grown past insisting on that...!"
She'd cover her mouth if she realized what she said, but it was true on a practical level. She and Sonic weren't anything but friends. They couldn't be anything but friends. It didn't matter how hard she worked, how much she changed and grew, or even if he did prioritize calling her in for backup over Knuckles in recent years.
And that's okay! It's fine, but...
"A... A date?!"
She grit her teeth in frustration. This guy had guts alright, but she was still... weary. He was Sonic at some point... and Sonic did like to lead her on in the past... But then again, Amy was a hopeless optimist at heart. And he was, really, really cute.
"Alright, but you better not be playing a sick joke on me or anything. I'm doing you a favor, after all."
"An animal park... Eek, this is going to be so much fun!"
Of course, I mean, if you forget the person who's saying it is considered to be more of an animal than most of this park's residents... but that was besides the point.
"Hmm..." Amy's ears folded in confusion as she looked around.
"You know, I figured this place wouldn't need a guided tour, but... there are so many different areas that it's more like a theme park than a zoo..."
“Ah hello there Miss are you a guest?” A teenage girl in a safari hat and a large backpack walked up behind Amy. The little park guide hadn’t seen her before and the way she was dressed seemed like maybe she was from outside the park.
“I’m called Kaban but my species are called humans. I’m the Japari Park Guide so if there’s something you want to see I’d be happy to guide you there. Let’s see… are you a hedgehog by any chance miss?” Kaban gave her a smile after all to Kaban a hedgehog wasn’t really any different to a human in any meaningful way.
Was this a trick question? Amy knew what humans were, after all. But it's not every day she encounters humans that are familiar with her outside of the big city.
"So your name is Kaban then?" She beamed, "I'm Amy Rose! It's good to meet you!"
She shook the other girl's hands gleefully, quick to put aside her skepticism.
"And you're the guide too? Lucky! I'd like to see the most exciting parts of this park!"
"Hello Amy, I was just wondering do you use weighted bracelets and anklets? If so how much do they weigh?"
"Oh, those old things?"
Amy thought to herself for a second and grimaced at her unhealthy past habits. It wasn't like she didn't boxercise anymore, but those weighted rings ended up draining all the energy from her.
"To be honest with you, I haven't really had a need for those in so long... You know power rings and the like really dehydrate you. There's a reason we rarely ever use them anymore..."
Oh, what was the point in the warning? She could only hope they'd be careful.
"A hot cup of matcha tea with petals of camellia floating atop. The porcelain tableware accompanying it is decorated in accents of gold and pink, reflecting an optimistic, prosperous individual who always looks for the best in everything. Accompanying the tea is a sweet sea-salt taffy flavored like honeycomb."

*a warp ring that was bright red was shooting lightning and was spitting out an unlown energy as a loud howl was heard as something went flying out of the ring.*
"Ah...!"
Amy's head practically spun around at the sound of something barely grazing the back of her head, her quills flying with the large gust of wind that came.
Before she could process the red ring and its place of origin from within, it was gone, all there being left in its place was a person, or at least... that's what she figured it was. Was it a wrong warp on their behalf?
"Hey!" She ran up to the mysterious figure, a bit cautious as they laid on the ground, unmoving, "Are you alright? Do you need help?"
A chill ran down her spine as she sat here, alone in the middle of the fields of Sunset Valley with a stranger, but it was getting dark, and Amy wasn't the type to leave someone alone to get hurt.
Amy gasped in shock once she saw the first bright light, her instincts causing her to suddenly move towards the giant as she began to yell out, readying her hammer.
"Watch out! Run, quickly!"
The hedgehog girl moved in a flash, swinging her hammer not towards the giant, but towards one of the missiles homing in on them, sending it off course into the distance where it exploded.
"I'll keep you safe, so just--!!"
Before she could properly react, she swung and hit a second missile into the third, but the explosion knocked her down to the ground, causing her hammer to fly out of her hands as she groaned in pain.
Ingvar gasped, leaping forward and gently scooping Amy up into his hands like she were a baby bird. He held her close, protectively with the one hand, and with the other, swatted an additional volley of fire. The giant growled. His free hand raised up, up! And then, SLAM! It crashed atop the attacking robot with absolute power, the force so strong it shook the ground and tore the machine apart. When the hand lifted up off the dirt, only ash and crumpled metal parts remained in a ruined heap.
He huffed. He puffed. He frowned. And then he looked down to the pink maiden again, brows lifting slightly, but still lowered with concern.
"It shan't be causing any more trouble, possessed thing," he said. In truth, it had been terribly reckless of him — he had only assumed it were inanimate. If it had been a living thing... Oh, he shivered at the thought. Trying to take his mind off of it, he gingerly took her hammer in a few pinched fingers and lay it beside her upon his open hand. "Are you being all-right?"
"Ugh..." Amy groaned, coughing out dust as she held her head and came to her senses, "Yeah, I'm fine, I think..."
She looked over at the pile of scrap metal that used to be the Egg Emperor, her eyes wide as she scrambled to her knees until she saw the familiar round aircraft flying away in the distance, the pilot too far away to hear as Amy sighed in relief.
"You're lucky that you didn't crack Eggman open," She said, "But thanks for helping me out back there!"
As she tried to stand to her feet and retrieve her hammer, the pink hedgehog winced as she fell down to her knees again, grasping her right ankle.
"Ow, darn it...! I must have landed wrong..."
Amy wasn't new to sprained ankles, taking off her boot to inspect her leg, rolling down her white sock to inspect the wound.
"Ah, this is bad... I don't know where my friends are, either..."

"Why Would you Physically Assault Sonic and his friends so that you can marry him?" (from Sonic Heroes)
"Cuz I can!" Amy chirped, "I'll beat up a million people if it means I can have Sonic all to myself!"
That was sarcasm, by the way. Much like the marriage comment, but Amy just crossed her arms, annoyed that somehow, she'd always be put in the wrong light over a misunderstanding she and Sonic cleared up years ago.
"Why did Sonic steal Froggy and Chocola, play dumb that he didn't know where they were, and then fight US because HE stole my friends' pets?"
"But you, know, you're right," Amy admitted, her ears folding downwards as she threw her hands up in the air.
"Obviously I had a lot of issues back then, and assuming Sonic would steal pets from a sweet little girl like Cream and a cool guy like Big was pretty stupid considering who the real culprit was."
Forget the fact that it was Big and Cream who insisted it definitely was Sonic, and she should just look at the blurry security image taken by a local paper.
"Also, don't know if this justifies it to you since you seem to not like me very much, but Tails and Knuckles are a lot stronger than Cream and Big," She continued, "I'm annoyed you don't show any concern that my friends were physically assaulted as well."
-> Test is here. Click 'keep reading' to see the write-up.
Amy is callous in the sense that she's very touchy, both physically and psychologically. She's the type of person who can't leave an issue alone if it's putting you in a bad mood, and this can be an issue because she'll sometimes come across as nosy or too intrusive.
She really is concerned about others, to the point where it's suffocating if the person wants to be left alone. Over time she's gotten better about this, but she's not good at hiding that it bothers her that someone won't tell her what's up with them.
Amy is mildly grandious. She has a pretty big ego she's built up over the years, and it's rightfully deserved! Do you know how hard it is to carry this hammer around? When Cream carries Amy and Big around, it's mostly on Amy to support Big's weight, which is why she's in the middle.
As a child, she couldn't keep up with Sonic like Tails could, and she wasn't as strong as Knuckles, and the hammer she had was a plastic gag toy her father had bought her as a joke.
She definitely had to step it up if she was ever going to stand by Sonic's side. She owed him, after all. Now he's got to pay Amy back!
Okay, it's no secret Amy's got anger issues, but she's been working on them in therapy! Make peace, not war... make peace, not war...
She's tried really hard not to hold grudges, but when people are rude to her friends, she can't help but make a scathing quip or indignantly ask just what they said.
When you lie to her, it's asking for trouble. Don't do it. She won't be too fond of you unless you apologize properly. Likewise, if you betray her, that'll really sting! What's your deal, anyway? Do you want to make her mad?
Amy's suspicious of a lot of things. Weird drones sitting outside the city limits, girls who get too close to Sonic, her friends keeping secrets from her...
She's pretty paranoid, but what can she do? It's not like she can follow everyone around for weeks on end. All she has to do is ask her magic 8-ball: "Does this seem weird to you too, Hachi?"
Amy's actually gotten better, believe it or not. When she was a child, she used to feel really paranoid on whether or not Tails really liked her as a person. He's like, Sonic's little brother, so that means he's her little brother too!
Is she too annoying? Does her home decor look off? Are her shoes too basic? What if he tells her she has a terrible sense in cars and Sonic would never love her!?
When he came back to her with a pomegranate-colored convertible and a smile, she felt herself sigh in relief. Just knowing that her friends like her and the nasty rumors some people will make up about her online aren't true makes her feel relieved...
Amy's never been the conniving type. She doesn't have to manipulate you to do something for her. She'll just tell you what to do.
It's really easy, actually. More people should be like her and just say what's on their mind. Maybe she wouldn't feel so exhausted running Restoration H.Q.
To quote herself from Sonic X, "I'm better at pitching anyways." Amy would never submit to anyone, not even Sonic. She's a pretty domineering force when it comes down to getting something she wants.
That's not to say Amy won't submit to someone. Just that it's not as fun as being in charge. She marches to the beat of her own drum, and she hates losing.
"Ooh, sounds like fun!"
- Amy, moments before disaster.
Amy loves risk-taking! She just feigns normalcy because it's easiest for her.
There's always new things to buy, new cakes to bake, new places to drive to, but she gets so bored... So so very bored. Like, "I need Eggman to come crash a drone into Station Square again" bored.
Meeting Sonic in-and-of itself was a huge risk. Continuing to pursue him was an even bigger one.
There's also the risk that he'll never return her feelings, but Amy's already gotten this far in her game of craps, and she's not gonna pass anytime soon! Speaking of, she may or may not enjoy poker a little too much. Never tell her about gacha games.
"Phew, what a long day," Amy sighed as she practically melted into the barstool at the Inn, looking over at the window. It was such a dreary day, and she had just gotten in as the snow began to fall.
"Sorry for the intrusion," She laughed, slapping down a good amount of rings on the table, "The special of the day, please."
Amy was more of a social drinker, but that didn't mean her tolerance for alcohol was low. She liked trying anything, but days where she would sit at the inn were for when she just wanted to nurse a single drink of whatever Volt had mixed that day and vent about the stressors in her live.
As if the hybrid was bothered by someone coming into the Inn with the snow coming down as it was. With winter in full swing, it wasn't often they had days when it wasn't at this point, and smiled as the hedgehog took her seat near his counterspace.
"One special comin' up." Volt chuckled as he eyed the rings, gathering them and putting them back in her possession as he passed by. Those could be better spent elsewhere in the village. After disappearing into the kitchen momentarily, he returned with a plate in one hand and a glass with a wine bottle in the other.
The plate was set down, a slice of Beef Wellington with twice-baked mashed potatoes and sauteed asparagus. The glass came next before he worked out the cork and filled it halfway with red wine. He put the cork back in and set the bottle in the nearby rack.
"The wine's a Merlot from Spagonia I got a few weeks ago durin' a visit. Should pair pretty well with the meal." A gentle tap was given to the counter with a finger. "Let me know if ya need anythin' else, al'ight?"
"Oh, you know me so well, Volt," Amy cooed as she began to help herself to the exquisite meal placed down in front of her on the counter.
She wished dearly that the kind-hearted man would actually accept her money, but she knew the song and dance. It was almost ritualistic, or a force of habit, for her to place the rings down.
She wasn't going to make a big deal out of it, but the locals always spoke so kindly of him and his daughter, and she really felt he deserved more than he got.
"I've been asking Clemente about this wine after the professor and I attended his wedding, but I've never been able to get a bottle of it!"
The butterfly seemed to fly at an incredible speed, Amy struggling to keep up with it as her sneakers crunched on the soft soil of the field. She ran through the forest, unaware of anyone around her.
As she burst into a meadow of many flowers, the one blue butterfly had turned into many, all of them flying about in an organized chaos, leaving the hedgehog girl to watch in awe.
Before she could process it, another flying creature used a gust of wind to corral the butterflies, the many insects settling on her head as she looked on in astonishment at the yellow creature in front of her.
"No, I'm not hurt at all," Just what was this place? It definitely wasn't home... or at least, Amy didn't remember home being like this! "But uhm, hmm..."
"I wouldn't say I'm okay... I don't know what this place is at all. Do you live here? What is this place?"
Her mind was racing with questions, and she wasn't entirely sure of whether or not she would get a direct answer.
Huh. Scaling large distances in the air. She certainly hasn't done that in a while, but it's not like she hadn't done it before in her youth. She just wondered if she'd actually be able to use this thing after so long.
"Hold my glasses, Shadow," Amy hummed, "I've got this."
In a sudden movement, Amy had summoned her... piko hammer? Well, it wasn't, exactly. It was a strange looking blue-and-green hammer that she rarely, if ever used, but she figured the ship wasn't so high in the air it necessitated anything other than this.
Taking a deep breath, the girl held the hammer with one hand, swinging it down on the ground with a hard thud, and catapulting herself into the air, doing a few twisting somersaults before she landed on the lip of the ship where the cargo door was, pulling herself up and taking a seat, wistfully kicking her feet.
Confused, the hedgehog complied when Amy handed him her sunglasses, looking at them curiously. Shadow didn't think he'd seen that hammer before. He didn't bother asking about it though, especially as Amy swung it around to catapult herself up into the air where she landed neatly next to the cargo door, her feet already kicking as she made herself comfortable while she waited.
"Hmph," but he was smiling to himself, and the hmph meant show-off, and I'll have to do better than that. He raced up a nearby tree and launched himself off of it, using the boost from his jet shoes to propel him forward and a Chaos Control to finish up the momentum, landing neatly next to her on the very edge of the ship. He crossed his arms, looking at her from the corner of his eye.
"Not bad," he said, handing her her sunglasses back. Then he walked to the little control panel that was clearly meant to grant access to the cargo hold...and merely slammed his fist on top of it, infusing it with a bit of Chaos energy so the circuits would short. The panel sparked and died and the door slid open. Shadow walked inside wordlessly.
"I could say the same to you," Amy praised, careful to keep her voice down as she took her sunglasses back and put them on her head, waiting patiently as Shadow overloaded the door with chaos energy.
It had been forever since she had been in a place like this... the last time was probably when she took an alternate route to Sonic's cell on Prison Island.
The smell of metal and motor oil was nauseating, but what was worse was she didn't even get a thank you from Sonic OR Tails. Sheesh! They were lucky she just wanted to be involved anyway.
Ah, now she was feeling nostalgic, looking over at Shadow's back for a moment, and cringing. Sure, she was a kid then, but now she wondered: How did she confuse him and Sonic at all? They were so... different, despite their commonalities.
"If I could run as fast as you or Sonic, my life would be so much easier..." She mused, "No more traffic... no need for the subway... don't have to buy new shoes..."
"Hey Eggman!" She shouted, turning around to threaten the evil old man, "You may not take me seriously, but don't forget what I did when you told me Sonic wouldn't come back home!"
The hedgehog girl was violent and unruly when she lost her temper, but she nearly fell over when she noticed what was actually behind her. Was that a foot? And it was quite big too, almost the height of Tails' walking mech.
"W-Woah!"
Amy had her hammer down behind her, shocked as she took the time to process the large being behind her, but then she stopped for a bit, noticing the being cowering behind the trees, like they were more scared of her than her of them.
"Sorry, did I uh, scare you?" She yelled, a bit embarrassed if that was the case.
Anyone else would probably have started running for their lives in this situation, but Amy knew what it was like when a little mouse spooked her in her house.
It was probably the same situation but in reverse, and it's not like this giant was one of Eggman's lackeys given their reaction.
"Egg... Egg-man?" Ingvar mumbled, scratching his temple with his pointer finger. "I... I am not having any eggs. And, er... I am knowing... knowing not who Sonic is being, nor... why they shan't be coming home."
Reluctantly, he lifted a boot from beside the other, took a step out from behind the trees, then a second, and like before, the ground shook with each, unaccustomed to handling a thing of such immensity capable of movement, such a creature. "I — I am not being... scared," he said. But it was a lie; of course he was scared; this encounter could go in any direction, any at all — and most probable among them spelled disaster for him. He kept his eyes locked not upon this strange person's face, but the weapon. It was true that it was no blade, but a bludgeon, he'd no doubt, would hurt all the same... he needed to be careful! Even if she had said she was sorry!!
His beard parted as though he were going to say something. But the words didn't have the chance to come out; he spotted a bright red light in the distance, and looked down to behold multiple tiny dots of it upon his body: laser pointers from the aiming mechanisms of a certain Doctor's schemes. As it now stood, however, the giant placed a hand over one, as though he were trying to grasp it, but it eluded him, the strange light moving from his stomach to the back of his hand when covered.
"What... What is this...?" he asked, fear thick upon his voice.
