It’s basically a celebration of people with disabilities, be it visible or not. Kind of also a visibility month for all the disabled people.

And a reminder that all of the disabilities are valid and shouldn’t be compared to one another by severity

psa anon!! apologies for missing you the past few days. I have been taking care of myself... mostly. It's been hard - today was 98 degrees F felt like 115 (for you Celsius users, that's 36.67 and 46.1 C respectively) and even while staying inside, I developed the worst headache ever. My plan was to do three attacks on art fight today but i ended up sleeping away most of today instead as a depressive episode comes and a bad psych appt (bad in terms of "went the worst possible outcome", not because my provider is awful. thank fuck for that, honestly.)

However, I did find out a job from two years ago is getting me my final paycheck ($205) and that means I can treat a friend who's coming down in a couple weeks to a nice dinner for their birthday, so I'm focusing on the positive.

before this post breaches containment and people start going “why not both hehehe” i want you to seriously consider the very long history of disabled people’s existence being pushed aside and/or seen as secondary. i promise you it’s not going to hurt to hold onto the memes and give disabled people space for visibility and celebration.

i say this as a disabled trans person whose trans identity is made front-and-center to the (mainly cis) people who know i’m trans but my identity as a disabled person is brushed off by the very same people.
