KNEW I WAS A ROBBER FIRST TIME THAT HE SAW ME

My girls with their COTA Taylor Swift pit upgrade tickets. 3 more days!
These arrived yesterday. Tickets for the pit, courtesy of Unicorn Sympathizer. My little Swiftie’s dream will be coming true in a few weeks. So amazing. It warms my heart just looking at them. Thanks again, Unicorn Sympathizer. And thanks, Taylor Swift, just for being who you are.
Random acts of kindness rock, especially when those acts land you at a rock concert.
I just noticed this article from last month in the Houston Chronicle about my little swiftie’s dream coming true...
My little swiftie will finally get to see Taylor Swift in concert thanks to an anonymous random act of kindness. Thank you so much, Unicorn Sympathizer! Read her post here.
NOAAS Okeanos Explorer scientists discover new ghost-like Octopus... and misquote Taylor "Smith."
We handmade Taylor themed candles for my little Swiftie’s Birthday (she turns 18 today - Valentine’s Day). My younger daughter had the idea of making the two candles on the the outside. The text was printed on tissue and melted on with a hair dryer. I had the idea for the prayer candle. Not finding any that I liked ready-made, I photoshopped the picture and printed it onto printable clear plastic sticky-backed sheets. I so wish I’d filmed Nicole’s reaction when she saw this!
I also made a “Lonely Starbucks Lover” gift card holder for a Starbucks card, found a really nice 1989 necklace on Etsy (it’s hard to read, but all of the song titles are on it), and found a musical 1989 ornament. Her sister also made her binder filled with Taylor quotes and lyrics. As always, Taylor and Unicorns were the main themes of her gifts and cards. Her sister actually bought her cards 2 and made 2 others, which were so sweet they made Nicole cry. Aw.
“So this happened... #TaylorSwift #QuizUp”
My little Swiftie was trying to distract herself with QuizUp / Taylor Swift. Of course, she never got a lyrics question wrong. After 3 days of playing, she made #1 in Texas, and #2 in the US, behind the Swiftinator, whom we suspect is a bot, because of the impossible stats. She was like, “Yay! I feel powerful.” lol.
Dear Taylor Swift,
My daughter has been going through a rough year with a few jealous haters trying to turn everyone against her. One in particular, seems obsessed and has been relentless. I’ve been endlessly rewriting you a letter, asking you to reach out to her in some way, but it seems you already have. She spent hours today going through every version of the Clean speech she could find. When I got home, she showed me a few and started to cry. So much of it was aimed at what she’s going through and was exactly what she needed to hear. She’ll never get to hear that speech live, so I’m thankful for the internet(s), and grateful that you’ve reached out to so many, the way you have.
Thanks so much, Swiftie Dad.
I can hear them whisper...
So... earlier this week, my little Swiftie told me, “Now, I have a reason to sing I Know Places, like I mean it.” Seriously? Drama in the choir department. lol.
Sending Love & Prayers to Andrea and her beautiful family.
Please, get well soon. We love you for being you.
P.S. This hit really close to home for us. My wife has one sister who is a survivor, and another who wasn’t as fortunate, leaving two very young daughters behind. And my mother became a survivor last year, but not without the chemo attacking her brain and turning her into a crazy person for about six months (she’s better, now). I’m sure Andrea will be alright, having caught it early, but I know it will constantly be on Taylor’s mind, until all is done and clear. So, this will be in our hearts and minds, too, until Taylor lets us know Andrea is well. Much love to the entire family.
My little Swiftie @ 11 y/o
This was the first time my little Swiftie sang in front of an audience (other than a choir thing) in April, 2009. She had just turned 11 and was already a total Swiftie. She’s 17 now, but she has stayed beautiful and kept her good-girl faith, which is a beautiful thing.
Taylor wins iHeartRadio Music Awards Artist of the Year. For some reason, I can’t stop smiling and watching her little celebratory dance, endlessly :)
Swiftsession (Swift Obsession)
I am a major Swiftie. I wouldn’t say it’s a problem…aside from the fact that I have her songs memorized but very few songs of other artists.
She is my role model and inspiration for just about everything I am.
For example:
1. I started songwriting because of her.
2. I had bangs at one point because of her.
3. I love vintage stuff (mostly because I like old things and their history but) because of her.
I have been a fan since the first album. I even remember the first song I heard of hers. (“Teardrops on my Guitar”) I also remember the CMA performance of “Should’ve said No” that made me realize who she was and totally fall in love with her music.
I kind of freak out about any new songs or videos, and I even suffered a twisted an ankle while dancing to her music. (Totally worth it.)
I’ve been here the whole time. I just don’t get why some Swifties are giving up on her. She is such a wonderful person. She’s caring and giving, especially to her fans. I mean what other celebrity does things like Swiftmas?
Maybe, they don’t like how she has evolved. I don’t see the logic in that, though. Everyone changes. It’s actually sad to see someone never change. To me, Taylor has changed in the most amazing ways, and I am so proud to call myself a Swiftie. (I even demonstrate that through my T. Swift journals and random lip sync SnapChats. Not to mention my random displays of Public Swiftie Fanaticism, or PSF. Just made that up.)
The sad part is that I have never been to a concert. (They are really expensive.) I have never even come close to meeting her. I might never take part in either of those things, but she is an ever present impact on my life. One that I am so thankful for. You know when you have that one person that you look up to and strive to be? Well she is mine.
Thank you, taylorswift, for your music. You have a song for every situation. :)
♥Nicole
I chose tumblr for my Swiftie-Dad blog, because my little Swiftie hadn’t used tumblr in forever, and I thought I could keep it secret for a while. Like a week later, she decides to start blogging, and surprise, surprise, I find this blog on her tumblr. Oh well, she’ll find my blog now. Hard to keep it secret anyway, when we share the same computer. Love you Nicole - my little Swiftie.
A Swiftie, Through and Through
My little Swiftie may not rant and rave, or constantly try to get Taylor’s attention, but in every other sense of the word, she’s a “Swiftie,” through and through. The moment Teardrops On My Guitar hit the airwaves, she became a fan, and it wasn’t long before she was idolizing Taylor, inspired by her, and totally excited to get any little thing, no matter how small or seemingly insignificant, if it had Taylor’s name or picture on it. She saves it all. It’s become a tradition, that Santa always brings her a new Taylor calendar every year, and usually a few other little things Tay. She always wants to own both the original release CD’s, as well as the special edition CD’s with extras (after having bought the digital, pre-release singles, of course), just to have a complete collection. She’s usually the first to know about anything Taylor posts on social media, or about any story that comes out about her. And, she gets really upset when she hears people say things about Taylor that she knows aren’t true. She might be too shy or fearful of haters to tell them off, but she certainly tells her Swiftie-Dad all about it later, and gets pretty indignant. And, like so many others, she was inspired by Taylor to start writing songs. She even started teaching herself to play guitar by finding the cords to Untouchable online and using a phone app to figure out how to play them. And of course, you should see how excited she gets when a new Taylor Swift album is about to come out, or is finally released. She can barely contain herself. Unlike those who are unhappy about Taylor’s shift towards pop, it’s been totally inspiring for my own little Swiftie. She also, takes fashion cues from Taylor, once had bangs, because Taylor did, and loves retro-fashion, because Taylor occasionally sports that look. She truly looks up to her, in every way: for her music, for how she handles herself in public, for what she shows us of her private life, for how she is with fans, and for how she just seems to be a big sweetheart. It was really no surprise when she told me recently that Taylor is her role model. I can’t think of a better one, or anyone in public or private life that even comes close, which is why this Swiftie-Dad has always held Taylor out to his little Swiftie as the example of how to be, in a fairly all-encompassing way. Not, that she wouldn’t be just as big a Swifite, if I’d never encouraged it. I’m truly glad the world has Taylor. If 50(+) year old dads are allowed to be Swifties, then I guess I’m one, too… through and through.
