Don't ask me about the Kan-Joh Interregional Youth Championships or IV or I'll sick my Gabite on you.
sigh. hi guys. its me. @aster-pkmn-irl-real is the main. i gave into the evil thoughts. yeah sorry
This is a PKMN IRL blog for Ryoga Kamishiro (aka Shark aka Reginald Kastle) from Yu-Gi-Oh Zexal. This is not a faller blog. I'm not exactly sure what I'd call this but the most accurate descriptor I can think of is a Pokemon IRL AU. In this blog's universe Duel Monsters isn't a thing in any capacity. This is literally just. Ryoga but he's a Pokemon Trainer and he's been a Pokemon Trainer.
If you're familiar with the source material, then I will state that in terms of character development this blog is starting from right before the World Duel Carnival arc, but obviously the actual WDC from Zexal isn't taking place.
For some basic backstory (plus a general idea of what public knowledge on him would be), Shark is Kantonian and lives in Saffron City, and was previously considered one of the best competitive trainers in his generation. About 9 months prior to the formation of the blog, Shark was expected to participate and potentially win in the finals of the Kan-Joh Youth Championships against a trainer known as IV (so like. four.), but in the middle of the battle, Shark was exposed as having looked at IV's team sheet prior to the battle, and disqualified for cheating.
guidelines:
Ryoga is a minor! NSFW is not allowed. The occasional dick joke is fine, but keep it PG-13.
Sentient Pokemon, eeby deebys, slow eeby deebys, chosens, legendaries, etc. are all welcome to interact, though Shark may be skeptical of them.
Pelipper Mail is OFF. Pelipper Malice, Musharna Mail/Malice, and Magic Anons are OFF.
literally feel free to ask about the kan-joh youth championship. ryoga will be a bitch about it but i, aster, am telling you to PLEASE ask about it actually
This is in no way required reading for the blog and knowledge of Yu-Gi-Oh isn't necessary in like any capacity but if you want you can read his wiki page ig.

i don't think there is anything wrong with telling off children for their misdeeds. in fact, i very much encourage it, actually. they'll learn to toughen up, eventually.
In what world would a stranger "telling off" a kid for having an opinion and listening to their parents beneficial? Grow up. Nobody cares about what you have to say.
Maybe it has nothing to do with me but I don't see what the hell this has to do with you either.
And so what if I'm 14? You're barely an adult, and you sure as hell don't act like one either if you're trying to parent a kid on the internet who didn't come here to argue about her opinions.
I just got done with the shittiest tournament in my life, so if I want to fuck around on the internet, I'll do that. Get a job or something.

Ignore how I haven't posted in months. Things happened. A tournament went to shit. I think there was a Deoxys.
Anyway.
Hot Take: People who dislike dark/ghost/psychic/fairy types aren't evil or stupid or whatever you think they are. Like it or not people have reasons for their beliefs surrounding certain types. Maybe you should stop looking for reasons to be butthurt about somebody not wanting you to interact with them and do something useful with your time.
“Shark, you wouldn’t happen to have an extra one of those Tera Shard things, would you?” The boy with the navy and pink hair looked at him with a hopeful grin.
Ah, Yuma; he always was ill-prepared, and Ryoga knew better than to expect him to be on top of things. Somehow though, he always managed to pull off a win with the Eevee and that Porygon; he had a feeling he’d find some way to get into the tournament.
Ryoga shook his head, running a hand through his own hair, sporting his own smirk and looking cool as ever.
“Afraid I don’t. I don’t even have one for me.”
“You don’t?” Yuma tilted his head, “You’re not competing in the tournament?”
“Heh,” Ryoga twisted the handle of his motorbike, the Revavroom fueling it beginning to make a vroom noise, “I battle for only one person, Yuma, and that’s myself.”
He heard Yuma mumble to himself, “Cool…” and huffed quietly.
“Later, Yuma,” he raised a hand in farewell and lowered his riding goggles before driving off.
Picking up speed, Ryoga found himself remembering his own short career in the Kan-Joh Battle Circuit. It was funny, the way his own bitterness had seemed to fade over the course of the past month; Yuma seemed to have that effect on people, he noticed-
Out of seemingly nowhere, he hit the brakes, the Revavroom screeching quietly as they stopped suddenly.
He paused, trying to process what’d just happened, and glanced in front of them, the past few seconds replaying in his mind.
A black-green-red blur flew past his eyes, landing on the road ahead.
There was a Dusk Ball on the road ahead, just where he expected it to be.
He frowned slightly, glancing up at the direction it had come from, seeing a figure cloaked in shadow standing on the balcony of a building still being constructed, surrounded by the silhouettes of a few Shuppet.
There was no hesitation in his steps as he ran straight towards the stairs and into the construction site, making it to the balcony and looking over, glancing around for any sign of the mysterious trainer.
“Long time no see, Ryoga,” a familiar voice jeered, “But you go by Shark now, don’t you?”
Ryoga whipped around.
“I do,” he said, eyeing IV carefully.
He took him in; IV hadn’t changed one bit since the Youth Championships, sporting the same tousled burgundy and bleach-blond hairstyle he had back then, and his eyes just as sharp. He was surrounded by three Shuppet; a small one with a pink cloth, a standard sized one with a light yellow one, and finally, a larger one with the standard cloth coloration.
“What’s the Dusk Ball for?” Ryoga asked.
“I just thought it’d come in handy,” IV said casually, “In case you were planning on expanding your team for the tournament.”
“I’m not entering the tournament,” Ryoga glared at him.
“Oh, don’t tell me you’re still hung up on that, Ryoga."
Ryoga only raised a brow in response, his gaze cold as ice.
IV looked at him with an interested expression, “What, you don’t remember? It all went down during the finals of the Kan-Joh Youth Championships, two promising young Trainers, the best of their generation, duking it out for the glory and prestige of winning it all-”
Ryoga’s scowl only deepened; he held on tighter to the Disk Ball.
IV’s grin only widened, “But then, during the finals, it was revealed that one of the trainers, Ryoga Kamishiro had cheated! Just hours before the tournament, he’d let his temptations take control of him and taken a look at his opponent, the favorite to win the tournament, IV’s team sheet.”
He snapped his fingers for emphasis, “And just like that—it was all gone.”
“What’s your point, IV?” Ryoga spat his name like it was venom; the pink Shuppet retreated slightly closer to IV, but still eyed Ryoga like this was just a fun game to it. The standard indigo one eyed him curiously, but seeming more apathetic than the other two.
IV laughed in return, “I’m just reminding you of how you didn’t just fail yourself, Ryoga. You failed her too. Your sister… Rio, right?”
“Don’t talk about my sister-!”
“You tried so hard to win for her,” IV went on, his smirk widening further at the sight of Ryoga’s ice-hot rage, “But you were so scared of letting her down that it cost you the battle; you gave into your fears and temptations, and who can blame you? My misplaced team sheet was right there. It’s almost like it’d been left there for you.”
Ryoga’s eyes widened, the realization hitting him like a truck.
“You-” he growled with a near animalistic look in his eye; he lived up to his namesake like this, provoked to the point of irrefutable violence, “You set me up!”
IV shrugged dismissively, “Whoa, whoa, Ryoga. Maybe I did, but let’s leave that in the past,” he chuckled, adding on, “Right where it belongs with your career in the competitive circuit. How the mighty have fallen…”
Ryoga stepped towards him, fists clenched, “Shut up, I haven’t fallen from anything-!"
IV’s smirk deepened; he tossed something towards Ryoga, something that glimmered in his palm, and cut into it as well. He refused to wince, or even look down at it, despite the cold, metallic scent of blood coming from his hand. He knew what it was; a Tera Crystal, one that signified participation in the World Battle Carnival. He frowned at the feeling of it in his hand.
“Then prove it, Ryoga,” IV chuckled, “Battle me in the tournament and prove you haven’t fallen off.”
He turned to leave, the Shuppet following him.
For a moment, the light yellow one turned, looking at him for a few moments until IV glanced back.
“As long as you don’t get caught cheating again, that is,” he laughed, the joy in his voice entirely replaced by scorn as he left, the Shuppet following behind.
For a few moments, Ryoga just stood there as IV left, unsure and angry, and holding onto the Tera shard harder than anything else he’d ever held.
He’d beat IV, that was for sure, but then after? He’d stab the crystal straight through his heart.
Judgment in Reverse: When has your character found it difficult to forgive themselves?
...
I don't have anything to forgive myself for.
ooc answer
Losing to IV the way he did. Ryoga hates that he ended up cheating, even moreso after realizing that it was a set-up. He hates IV for it and he hates that he never realized it.

"delinquent."
Hm okay. So with the 'delinquent' thing, in canon Zexal, Ryoga's 'thing' was that he would take people's decks when they lost to him.
Obviously, Ryoga is not a member of Team Rocket.
In my mind, this translated as him taking battle items and their empty Poke Balls so they wouldn't be able to catch other Pokemon.
