The Golden Guitar emits a small twang at the top of every hour. Only the locals can hear it.
Water restrictions are now in place. Tears must be collected in vials and surrendered to the council.
You dip your foot into the Peel River and touch a shopping trolley. You move further down the river and dip your foot in again. Another shopping trolley. Another and another. There is no riverbed anymore.
The Country Music Festival goes all year round, but the council only allows us to acknowledge it in January. Even in August, the buskers strum their guitars, fingers bruised.
You turn right at the roundabout. You drive on and arrive at the same roundabout. You turn left this time. The same roundabout approaches. You cannot escape it. Where is the bowling club?
The jumping cactus lurks around the corner, waiting for you. You step carefully across the road to avoid it. It watches you. It follows you. It is upon you.
You hit a pothole driving down Manilla Road and fall through. You emerge minutes later from another pot hole further down the road. You feel lucky. Before the roadwork, nobody ever came out again.
The dam dries up so far that it exposes graves that haven’t been seen in over a hundred years. You peer down through the cracks in the arid ground and look for bones. Piercing white light screams back at you.
The food court buzzes with excitement. Signs advertise Pad Thai, Sushi, Kebabs, and baked potatoes. But no matter what you order, you walk away with a meat pie every time, just like everybody else.
All roads lead to Peel Street, quite literally. You’re there every day. The street owns you. It’s isn’t the city centre - it is the city.
You climb atop the luminous cross at the peak of the lookout and look out across the town. There are four horses to every person. You dream of the day the horses ride the people.

When it’s your 10th week without rain and it doesn’t look like the heats gonna let up just yet, then you hear rain drops on your tin roof and yell “MARGE THE RAINS ARE ‘ERE” but it’s just them super juicy corn cobbetts. Ah McCain, you’ve done it again.
Disgusting: ISIS Just Released A 2-Star Review Of ‘In The Aeroplane Over The Sea’
As ISIS continues to increase its deadly and destructive influence across the Middle East, it becomes increasingly clear that there is no act too atrocious for the terrorist organization, and its latest disgusting salvo proves just that. Earlier this morning, members of the Islamic State released a two-star review of Neutral Milk Hotel’s sophomore album, In The Aeroplane Over The Sea.
According to reports, the devastating 500-word review, which appeared online at 7:45 a.m., attacks nearly every aspect of the 1998 indie album, again showing that ISIS is capable of anything.

Europeans: I drove forty minutes to the Netherlands for some groceries and then I popped into Germany to see some of my relatives before driving back home.
Americans: I was in Florida, I drove for nine hours, now I'm still in Florida.
#australians: i drove for nine hours #now i'm nine hours away from home #no one is here #the streets are empty #how did this happen #where has civilisation gone #i am alone in the universe #oh wait no there's an echidna it's okay

baby: Alchemy. The science of understanding, deconstructing, and reconstructing matter. However, it is not an all-powerful art; it is impossible to create something out of nothing. If one wishes to obtain something, something of equal value must be given. This is the Law of Equivalent Exchange, the basis of all alchemy. In accordance with this law, there is a taboo among alchemists: human transmutation is strictly forbidden - for what could equal the value of a human soul...?
constantly struggling with the urge to go to new places and meet new people and the fact that I don’t like people or going out much
