Addressing everything that has happened today (as well as a notice for those who aren't yet aware of what happened, and those to whom it might happen in the future)
1. Intrusion of my account
At around 1:30 pm, I received an e-mail from the Tumblr automatic messaging saying that the e-mail address associated with this account has been changed with another one. Shortly after, I checked Tumblr and couldn't access anything.
I filed a support form stating that my account has been hacked and after receiving a reply from the staff, I provided them with all the data needed for cases of hacked accounts.
When I finally got access, I saw a flood of messages, and all the readers I've contacted through dms in the past have all been asked by the hacker if "they're available" and if "they can help them with something".
Proof that I was hacked and how I got my account back:
2. How the scam works
The premise goes like this - the hacker pretends to offer help by telling the reader they saw an account impersonating the reader in question, or that the reader has been falsely reported, then the hacker is sharing a link towards a Discord account impersonating guys that don't even work in the Tumblr staff anymore.
All the readers who have been messaged by the hacker have offered me a reading of any kind, whether it be tarot, astrology, intuition, or any other kind of divination, or with whom I've exchanged readings or was planning to. (I am sorry for those few whom I have delayed recently, I didn't forget about you. I've had a lot on my plate, and I literally feel a blockage whenever I try doing an intuitive reading when I am seriously struggling in my personal life.)
I will be using the screenshots provided by @seekingflowers as evidence of how the scam happened in her case. The hacker contacted her about an account who impersonated her, and like I've mentioned, pretended to want to "help" by sending a link to a Discord account, which, again like mentioned, is impersonating former staff employees. Name of the specific guy whose name was on the Discord account in the screenshots was hidden for privacy.
And that's the end of the long chain of screenshots.
But one more thing. I know that everyone has reacted in their own ways to the hacker/scammer, and I deeply apologize for the pain and disruption they have caused.
I would like to thank everyone who has raised awareness about the scam by posting, commenting and reblogging. It truly means a lot for me, but also for those who have encountered the scam and those that might encounter it in the future.
The people that have been blocked by the scammer have been unblocked by me. I am truly sorry the hacker did this to you, and I saw your attempts to reach me after I cleaned the blocklist. Much appreciated.
Last but not least, I also want to mention those who have blocked me. I know that the scammer has pushed you to the limits, or annoyed you, I am also apologizing to you as well, even if you can't see it.
As a conclusion, I will better secure my Tumblr account for such incidents to never happen again.
With kind regards,
swordoftheseeker
