the dark forest hypothesis (the idea that aliens remain silent and hidden out of fear that revealing themselves would lead to destruction by a more technologically advanced and hostile civilization) is so funny to me because if it's true then we're the only idiots in the galaxy not hiding at all, and doing pretty much the opposite by sending informations about ourselves into space (the voyager golden record, for example)
