Erwin got Levi sitting on his lap.
So many Levi fans already know the extent of his compassion and how well he treats children. There are many examples that exist in the manga like in chapter 123, Island Devils, the flashback chapter where the Survey Corps go to Marley to try one last time to find a peaceful solution with Marley even if we know Eren never really considered that solution. In this chapter, Levi saves Ramzi, a poor immigrant boy, from literal punishment by Marleyans. What I wanted to add to the analysis of this scene is how Hange reacts to Levi's improvised plan, because I've always been fascinated by how quickly Hange goes along with what Levi is doing in this scene.
Here, Hange not only reacts to Levi's story invented on the fly, but they add to it to make sure his story is convincing. So that means Hange understood quickly what Levi was trying to do and they backed him up without asking further questions. I think this interaction is another example of how they are both connected to the same braincell, and I find it interesting because even in situations completely unexpected as this one, Hange seems to quickly follow Levi's thinking. On the other hand, Sasha didn't expect Levi to fabricate a story in which she would be related to Ramzi, but she soon plays along after Hange added some more to Levi's lie.
This moment also shows Levi and Hange's instinct to protect a helpless child forced to steal due to poverty and discrimination, a child who is a complete stranger to them and in a country that is hostile to Eldians, and yet their first instinct is to help this child escape from that hostile crowd. Later we see that Levi's lie wasn't enough to fool Marleyans even with Hange and the others' backing, but Hange's intention to help Levi construct that story matters more than whether they actually succeeded at fooling the crowd because in the end, Levi succeeds in running away from the crowd as he carries Ramzi with him (and then Ramzi manages to steal his purse instead lol and he lets him get away with it). I think this scene really adds to the headcanon that Levi and Hange are the parents of the 104th because now they've clearly added another child to care for despite themselves, again.
I do want to quickly mention the look Levi gives to Ramzi when he realizes how this whole affair has escalated for the worst. I just love how poignant his eyes are when he glances at Ramzi and it doesn't take much for him to come to his rescue without any second thoughts. This is obviously another great example of Levi's extreme compassion on display and he would've come to this child's rescue regardless of the circumstances, but I do think Levi definitely caught a glimpse of his own traumatic childhood in Ramzi, seeing himself in Ramzi's struggles, in how he was also forced to steal to survive in the Underground from a young age, so there is definitely a parallel here to be made between the two even though Levi would've saved Ramzi regardless of personal reasons. Isayama is really talented at drawing Levi's expressions that are always so expressive, they get to me all the time. Levi gave a similar look to Gabi and Falco back during the attack on Liberio in chapter 103, so there is definitely a recurring theme going on here for Levi that adds to his incredible characterization.

Levi and Kuchel in modern au
In this au, when Levi was a baby, Kuchel was going through financial difficulties. She wanted a photo of her son’s first birthday, since she didn’t have any pictures of him yet, so she asked one of her neighbors if he could lend her his camera and take a picture of her with Baby Levi.
