What the heck's a June of Doom?
This is a month-long prompt challenge/ list/ event/ thing that focuses on whump, angst, hurt/ comfort, and the like. Despite the air of doom it exudes, this challenge is very relaxedâyour mod knows life happens but you still want to be part of your fandom(s), and sometimes you can't just sit down 30 days in a row to write/ art/ create. So, this list is out stupid early every year so you have the chance to prepare and particiapte! It's never too soon to Doom!

I'm aware that this blog still has a long way to go before actually reaching a consistent number of people, but I love writing as much as I love devouring tons of star wars fanfiction daily.
Sooo I think I will try to participate in this challenge! My real-life agenda is kinda crowded right now, but I hope I'll manage to find some time to publish at least 5 one-shots in June. They will be posted on my main Wattpad account in Italian, since I usually write in my first language, then I will translate them and post everything here.

I am a PASSIONATE commenter on fanfiction, but sometimes it slows down my reading because I don't want to read if I don't have the mental energy to leave the long comments I want to
Still, as an author, I know even a short note can mean the world.
So, I put together a little guide with different âlevelsâ of comments, so itâs easier to leave something without overthinking!
Anakin Skywalker vs âSomehow Palpatine Returnedâ
Anakin, the man himself, is Star Wars. It doesnât matter if itâs a show, movie, book, comic, game, or fanfic, Anakin Skywalker will haunt the narrative because everything is about him, as it should be. He is an amazing character, on par with Shakespearean writing. Heâs the good guy turned villain with beautiful storytelling. All of that was ruined by the phrase âSomehow Palpatine returnedâ.
A child slave who longed for freedom for himself and his mother and then eventually gaining a form of it at the cost of leaving his mother behind, Anakin decided to be good. A Jedi knight, still under control of some in power, he fell in love against the law. A ruthless, cruel, and evil dictator still obeying a master, Darth Vader was freed by his own son.
Anakin wasnât perfect. He was powerful, and that made it easier for him to be corrupted by a man he trusted. A Sith Lord who manipulated him since childhood to be groomed into the most evil being in history. That evil being turned to the light and did bring balance to the force by making sure the Sith Lord never harmed the galaxy again.
âSomehow Palpatine returnedâ disrespects a man who loved and lost, who protected and killed. After all that Anakin did, bringing back the one demon that enslaved him for his whole life is simply garbage. He threw him down a reactor shaft out of love for his son, knowing he would lose his life in the process. He fell into the manâs trap to save his wife and children. He wouldnât leave Obi Wan behind on a crashing ship. He was loved by his padawan, his soldiers.
He destroyed his daughterâs planet. He killed millions. Out of rage and hate he force-choked his pregnant wife, slaughtered children who trusted him, murdered the man he once thought of as a father. Luke Skywalker understood that and still believed in him. He was right.
A truly tragic and wonderful character destroyed by a cheap attempt and lack of a plan for a trilogy that undermines his sacrifice.
I will never forgive Disney or Lucasfilm for never giving us some Skywalker twins searching for their real mother content. It's always about Anakin, and I get it; he's super important, but I find it highly unlikely that Luke wouldn't want to know who his mother is.
I'm pretty sure in canon, Leia once said she had no desire at all to know who her birth parents were because, to her, the Organas were her familyâand I can totally see that opinion of hers skyrocketing after Luke tells her their father was VADER of all people and she wouldn't want to have anything to do with her biological family (bar Luke, ofc). But that could also develop Leia's character and how she perceives Vader/Anakin.
Imagine this: she RELUCTANTLY follows Luke as he journeys to find some information about their birth mother, and it turns out they're the kids of PadmĂŠ "The Effing Queen and Senator of Naboo" Amidala!!! The ultimate defender of democracy. The woman Leia idolized since being a teenager!
Imagine how shocked she would be to know that a woman like PadmĂŠ would fall in love with Vader. But as they dug deeper into the story, the twins come into contact with who Anakin was before the mask and how much PadmĂŠ meant to him, and vice versa. It's a story with so much potential! They could even incorporate that joke Mark Hamill loves telling at conventionsâof him on the set of Return of the Jedi asking George if Luke and Leia being siblings meant Luke was a prince, and Carrie immediately shouting, "NO!" Imagine Luke attempting a joke: "Hey, you're a princess, and our mother was a queen. Guess that makes me a prince, huh?" And Leia shooting him down with something like, "In your dreams, farmboy!" or a simple "Never!"
