He spoke of the lord, but the monster was not one of gods creatures. What stood before Jonathan was of no relation to anything holy and unholy alike, she answered to none. She was ancient.

Muscles about nonexistent eyes tensed as she looked down upon the vampire with scrutiny as he inquired after her very being. There was a beat of silence as she contemplated her answer, to speak the truth or withhold it? Her encounters with others of his kin weren’t always the most civil.

“I am not on vampiric lineage if that is what you wish to know,” She answered, for it was no lie but she avoided disclosing the truth. “Satisfied?”

Bloodshot eyes continued to try and make sense of the woman, the monster, in front of him. She was no vampire, that much he could tell. He would have been able to sense a vampiric presence within her if such was the case, but there was none.

“Only partially, and I’m not quite sure if that is even the word to describe my... predicament.” Hand raises to his chin, scratching it in thought. “If you are no vampire, no Skal, and for certain no human, then I wish to know what you are. From a scientific perspective, I assure you. I am a scientist- a doctor, to be more precise- I research, I learn, it’s in my nature to ask questions.”

Jon realized that he may have came off as rude, incessantly questioning her before even asking her name or giving her his. Politeness was a virtue so few had. “I apologize, I’m Dr. Reid. And you are-?”

While he did not wish to be grouped among the killers, old habits tended to die hard. A bite or several here and there, hope drained of ever escaping, and here he was. As empty as a corpse left in the mass graves of Southwark. “I still don’t know why I am here over anyone else.” Jon said, crossing his arms. “It seems more beneficial to get someone with more... willpower, although I do not intend to underperform.”

Well, I can’t say that you’ll have much of a story if you intend to follow me.” Back in the day, Jonathan had many a reporter attempting to get an in-depth story for whatever paper they worked for. But now, years later, he was just a man with the exact same name as that doctor, nothing more. “I’m sure you could find a far better subject for whatever piece you are working on.”

You have no reason to be awake as late as I am, you’re not working the night shift.” Alas, there were other reasons as to why he was always awake so late, but he kept those a secret from the girl. To protect her.

Because they certainly seem to have heard of you.” Jonathan had heard certain things from people who knew specific things, people in power, people who weren’t. Nonetheless, he had heard when Priwen had picked up on another vampiric hunch, much like they had with Thelma. “They seem to believe you are a vampire, and what dangerous business it is to be in when Priwen thinks that you are... one of those.”

The vampire looked the other over, scanning for something he recognized but found nothing familiar except the humanoid frame. “I cannot say that I have ever seen a being quite like you before. Tell me, what are you exactly? Skal? Or, perhaps... something far worse?”

A hundred years and nothing seemed to change except his location, a change of country still left him a bit rattled. As he walked the dark streets, he realized he had no idea where he was. Quietly approaching the first person he found, Jonathan tapped her on the shoulder. “Excuse me, ma’am. I seem to have found myself lost. I don’t mean to impose, but, if you could point me in the way of the nearest-” A pause. “-‘Convenience store’, I’d be in your debt.”
