Today Helena and I went to the Denver American Girl store after I got off of work. Helena got her ears pierced, her nails painted, and her hair styled! She got the sweetheart braid, and lavender nail polish. We decided to get the classic silver earrings as well. It's been a fun day!

Brief Bio - Kirsten enjoys taking on the role of big sister in the dorms, as she is one of the oldest girls. She plays on both the School soccer and Basketball teams. She also volunteers at the library to read to younger kids. She dreams of being a special education teacher.

Today the girls had a picnic out in the deck! I made them BLT sandwiches, plus they had potato chips and celery sticks. You can tell that Jellybean and Alicia are really bonding. I took some more pictures that I'll put up later!
Meet Jellybean! This is the girl’s new kitten who just joined the family today. She and Licorice are already getting along swimmingly, and Alicia is especially attached to the new 4-legged friend.
Helena and Sammy are getting ready for bed. I'm loving Helena's new PJs from Sheeky Violets.
Alicia and Sammy both got new outfits today. I love their little jeans! They have functional pockets, and their shirts are just too cute. Both outfits came from Amazon, from the brand Sophia's.
oh yeah and i can’t believe it’s taken me this long to bring this up but i’m absolutely not here for people shading the “american girl today”/”my american girl” line because
the line literally enables girls to create a doll that looks like them
including a wide array of non-white skin tones and non-european features
like black dolls with curly and textured hair
or asian dolls that appear to have epicanthic folds
and they’ve also released accessories like doll-sized wheelchairs, hearing aids, and crutches so that girls who aren’t able-bodied or are hard of hearing can have a little friend who shares their experiences
and they’ve even begun to offer dolls without hair for little girls who have alopecia or have lost hair while battling cancer
and basically if you don’t think that’s the tightest shit then get out of my face

They also consulted the Nez Pierce when making their Kaya doll and that’s why her smile doesn’t show teeth, among other things, and they’ve released some beautiful, and accurate, modern Powwow regalia for her.
Also they’ve been offering all this stuff since I was still getting the catalog. I just turned 29, so if I’m going to guess, that means they’ve been offering these options since at least 1996ish.

As someone with an invisible illness, and who believes everyone deserves equal representation for everyone, this is part of why I love AG. My future children will get AG dolls if they want them, and will get to read all the books.

Is it weird that I’m 20 and still want an American girl doll? I always wanted one as a kid but we were too poor. Now that I have a job and spending money, I really want to buy myself a doll.
I'm 23, and I only had dolls because my Grandma went out of her means to spoil me. Now, I'm planning on putting my own money towards a new doll soon.
Kanani wants to spend as much time with Julie as she can before Ivy arrives and steals her best friend away from her. Poor Kanani thinks she’s going to be replaced. Little does she know that Ivy is a super shy but friendly girl and they’ll become a trio!

Maryellen’s new outfits came today. Not a fan of either headband but love the rest of both outfits. The headbands don’t fit very well and you can still see a little bit of the tag even after cutting it off. Her hair is cute like this but I don’t know how to get it back in the ponytail. These made my mom nostalgic for her childhood.
At first I thought that the socks were mittens and wondered why she needed another pair for school. I realized my mistake when I put them on her hands. :)
P.S. Just realized that Maryellen has green eyes.

Since I was a kid I really wanted an American Girl doll…for those who don’t know they are insanely expensive dolls for girls that are coupled with books about the dolls lives.
I always wanted Kit a girl from the 1930’s struggling to live through the depression. She wanted to be a writer and you could even get her a little type writer!
My parents didn’t get me one because they were (and still are) insanely expensive. INSTEAD my parents got me the book series about Kit which I read over and over.
This year, at the age of almost 21, my fiancee got me Kit for Christmas. As a I pulled the wrapping paper off the box and saw her face staring at me I started to cry.
It’s more than just getting the doll. He remember me mentioning I wanted the doll, he understood how much it meant to me, he invested the money in buying me one. I’m an adult, we’re planning a wedding, and he still got me a doll and is encouraging and tolerating me buying clothes and being a little eccentric about the doll.
I love him so fucking much.
