Or apparently he would talk about work right now. That worked too.
“I’m actually still waiting on the marketing department to get back to me,” he replied with a hum, shifting through some papers. “But at first glance, our profits are the same as last quarter. No rise, no fall. I think we should look into new works.”
“Broaden our horizons... I suppose we should. Perhaps a few new additions to the company to distribute the load of extra work. After all, bringing in new works will take a few more eyes than we already have,” Karakoth said, though he spoke mostly to fill the silence with dull talk to deter curious ears.
“Would you join me in my office for a moment to discuss this new idea of yours?”

She knows what lurks in the area before he speaks. Fae, and death. Likely winter’s claim. Normally, these creatures are not dangerous to the coyote; but she can never know for sure. So when he approaches her directly, she stares him down with a distinct lack of fear. Or real interest. There is only a glare of bright eye and a hiss covered by a sigh to inform him of her displeasure. “That depends very much on who is asking.”
names held power, and the archfey was hesitant to reveal himself. “A creature whose many titles would no doubt bore you,” Karakoth answered, “Forgive my blunt inquiry. I truly meant no offense.”
Heathens
Cain almost hated that the weather was so perfect on the island most days. He missed rains, snows, storms. He missed having the freedom to go south for the winter if he wanted, he missed flying especially. What little gliding and flapping he could do wasn’t enough, it wasn’t the same.
He soared down from his perch, launching himself off an outcropping of rocks or two on the way down to give himself a bit more of a push as he descended. He landed somewhere at the edge of the Fields, where the keepers had at least granted them the cover of a few trees in places. Cain shook out his wings, frustrated all over again at the clipped tips.
“Downright vile.” He grumbled, “Heathens.”
The Arch Fey looked to the sphinx at the sound of the rough landing, but did not move from his place on the ground, seated beside some wilting daisies, to otherwise welcome the other creature. “We’ve all been collared and clipped, my fine feathered friend,” Karakoth mused, a low rumble of interest lit in his eyes as he watched the creature handle its defaced wings, “In our own ways.” In saying so, the fey tapped the black collar around his neck.
“But I do wonder if we could aid each other...”

she greets him with a wide, amiable smile, tilting her head in slight curiosity. something about this man felt different, almost out of place. but she keeps smiling, giving him a small nod.

I was toxic; the secrets I kept poisoned so many of the ones I needed. I was unbearable. I was aching. I was lost. & for a long time, I believed that I belonged nowhere.

Karakoth
Name: the only name he offered the staff was Karakoth (not his full name or any of his titles, but most if not all Fae know his importance in the Winter Court)
Species: Forest Fae > Sidhe
Age: Millenia (appears mid-to-late thirties), but from his small shows of power thus far, the park can only guess at a couple of hundred.
Physical Description: [in glamour] Black hair and eyes, pale skin. Usually in a suit or otherwise a white open-collared shirt with black jacket overtop. Wears gold jewelry in his ears and around his neck most often. Smells faintly of moss and earth. Height varies around 6′0″ depending on the size of those talking to him. [no glamour] Proud antlers (similar in shape to that of the red deer) protrude along the sides of his head curving up and forward. They are shed annually, even if Karakoth has been in full glamour all year. His eyes are more brown than black, and his hair is green and red with moss (the black underneath is all but covered). Lichen grows over his neck, and parts of his face. He wears clothes resembling his glamour-form, and replaces them when the need arises (though they are usually stained, worn, and ripped by the time he deems that necessary). Walks barefoot over any terrain. Smells of rot, decay, and stagnation. The air around him feels like a slow, deliberate, all-consuming hunger. Stands comfortably at 7′8″.
Face Claim: Lee Byung-Hun (or Godfrey Gao)
Special Abilities: see bargaining for souls. Karakoth can also make things around him decay, rot, and age at an enhanced rate. He can perform this by touch or mere proximity. He can tarnish things like jewelry or wood, and he can spoil food. Karakoth can also undo these things, but has never shown any at the park of such capabilities, for it would truly show his power, for it takes a considerable effort for him to reverse his natural magics.
Residence: Fields of the Fantastic. Deep in the forests he sleeps on rotting logs and mossy beds. However, he comes out to meet tours often (in full glamour only) to chat, entertain, and otherwise try to entangle unknowing people in bargains.
About: the park found and captured Karakoth around a landfill. Despite his high station at the Winter Court and his capability in magic, he allowed himself to be caught and kept in captivity. His position in the Winter Court is only known to Fae who are in either the Summer or Winter Court, and he is a son of sorts to the Queen-that-is, making him a brother to the Queen-that-will-be. His relation would be enough to command power to secure and hold his own realm in the Nevernever, but he has not done such, and does not appear to wish to (though his motives are unclear to most).
Forest Fae
Physical Description: Forest fae is an umbrella term for the kinds of fae found within forests. This may seem obvious, but the fact of the matter is that all forest fae vary from the size of one’s thumb to taller than a grown man. Some resemble beasts, while others resemble humans. Within this group are (and are not limited to): - pixies & brownies - Sidhe (Ladies, Lords, Queens, and Kings) - ogres & trolls & goblins - changelings Most fae belong to either the Summer Court (generally warm towards humans) or the Winter Court (generally malicious towards humans). Fae that are not part of either Court are called Wyldfae by the others of their specie.
Park Location: Fields of the Fantastic
Natural Habitat: Most fae originate not on this plane, but another. Some call it Faerie, others Fairy Land or the Nevernever. Regardless, most Forest Fae love heavily wooded areas and old forests. sunlit meadows or the darkest depths of the forest are where Fae may be found. The type of Fae generally differ on what environment they prefer. No Forest Fae likes pollution or decimation of their woodland territory.
Diet: Meat (usually cooked, but not always), nuts, vegetables, sweets. Basically they can and will eat anything a human could eat, and their stomachs are hardy enough to digest mushrooms otherwise poisonous to humans.
Strengths: The larger Fae are brutally strong, moreso than a human of the same size. Smaller Fae find their strength in numbers: expect swarms and/or colonies. Trolls and Ogres are the most dangerous Forest Fae physically.
Weaknesses: Iron (burns them; may be used as a core for a collar to suppress magic). Cannot tell an outright lie (but can bend the truth or twist their words). They must honour all sworn oaths. They never give away anything for free, and never take anything without giving something of equal value in return.
Special Abilities: Almost all Forest Fae have some kind of natural magic. The most gifted with magic are the Sidhe who rule the Faerie Courts. Of these, the Queens have the most power, followed by Matrons (queens that were), Kings, Ladies (queens that will be), and Lords. All other Fae have small amounts of magic that usually connect to where they inhabit. Making the forest grow, decay, and grow again, as well as forming the forest by magic (into structures and the like) are all part of the base Forest Fae magic. Sidhe are the most dangerous of the Forest Fae magically. They have the power to bargain for a mortal’s soul. If a mortal enters a pact with a Sidhe, it is an equal exchange, but the Sidhe have no souls to bargain with, so they bargain with power (often magical), treasure, or things that the mortal is most likely to accept for their soul (ie. the saving of a loved one’s life). APPROACH WITH CAUTION: do not accept anything from them or offer them anything.
