-discomfort is not the same as harm and acclimating yourself via fiction to strongly unpleasant emotions such as sorrow, indignation, and disgust will make you stronger and healthier

-however if you are repeatedly triggering yourself by engaging with media that makes you miserable you should probably recognize that it's up to you to stop hurting yourself

i honestly think that the whole “i’m your dad” bit was about both rick and morty kind of acknowledging that morty’s main caregiver is rick, and even with how fucked up it is, rick is kind of the only one in the family to regularly seek out spending time with him and give him guidance. i don’t think morty reminding us that his entire “original” family is dead was unintentional - even though they all love each other on the “doesn’t matter where we came from, this is all our original timeline now” basis, there are still hierarchies. for example, the beths and summer are from the same dimension - i think it’s true without this scenario that beth’s favorite is summer, but i think this elevates that when it’s literally still her original summer, and morty isn’t technically her original son.

morty was one of the first people rick formed a strong bond with post-diane, and one of the only consistent people in his life. i think if rick had to pick one person who he considered family, he would absolutely pick morty prime. we don’t know just how long rick has known this morty but he’s clearly very attached to him, and has been adventuring with morty prime for a long time. morty is the same - out of everyone in the family, he’s known rick the longest and he seems to always seek him out first whenever he needs anything. i think the choice of having morty bond with another version of jerry in the first half was very intentional, and meant to create a parallel. that jerry wasn’t meant to be a replacement for his jerry - he was a replacement for his rick. rick views morty as his child, and morty views rick as his main father figure.

if you're wanting more Bingge domestication, @nyoomerr writes the best binggeyuan I've ever seen. It's hard to pick a favorite because they're all good, but I'm especially fond of if you don't have your own boyfriend, rented is fine. I love Bingge getting trained like a dog lmao

if you want bingqiu fics that are absolutely dripping with love, I recommend @red-pearl-white-flower's fics! again, hard to pick a favorite, but I like All the ways in which I know you because I love a timeloop

if you want some excellent Shang Qinghua characterization, @tossawary's Airplane is always spectacular! pride is not the word I'm looking for is a masterpiece, but I also wanna give a shoutout to Servant to a Different King because I read that one first and I love moshang's slow burn and even though tianxi are only on the side, they are a huge highlight of the fic for me

if you would prefer tianxi to be closer to the forefront, @corduroyserpent's fic i shine only with the light you gave me genuinely made me cry. fantastic characterization for everyone in Binghe's family, it made me horribly emotional

also because I went looking for one fic and was reminded of another, if you like superhero AUs, Absolute All-Star Binghe is EXACTLY what I want from a superhero AU, it absolutely nails the balance of drama and comedy. if you want more AUs (including my other favorite superhero AU!) Feynite's Scum Villain AUs collection is insane and awe-inspiring. the amount of work that is put into each and every AU in that collection is incredible and made me itch to create more of my own AUs

finally, I think every scum villain fan needs to read Tarnished Gold. it's just such a work of art and made me understand Bingge on a much deeper level, I cannot recommend it enough

i find transmigrating into other characters besides shen qingqiu quite interesting as a premise for svsss fanfics. gongyi xiao is also a good candidate.

when it comes to writing, however, i find it difficult to get into shen yuan’s mind. instead i prefer to write about ming fan, gongyi xiao, or shang qinghua. writing from mobei jun or luo binghe’s perspectives are good too. i just can’t get into shen yuan’s brain—it’s so bizarre and contradictory but also so intriguing to read like huh

Alright alright. Now some of these are probably already well known, but still!!

I make no secret of this, but as Prim is my favorite author and very cool friend, I will HAPPILY recommend these first;

Masochism is probably THE qijiu fic of all time, absolutely adore it. It's set in their disciple era, with YQY just grabbing at whatever scraps he can even as SQQ tries to push the boundaries and see what will make him BREAK. So, so good. Happy ending!

Tarnished Gold is my favorite original Binghe fic, and I hope more people give it a chance. I think the summary scare some but it's GREAT! I love it! Binghe's thought process, the way someone perceives SY as GYX from an outside perspective, and omg LPM is such a great character in it...

of course I recommend basically everything Prim writes.

(Shen Yuan Voice) It's not gay if- by Nachtofthedead is porn. Just straight up modern time BingYuan porn. It is filthy and great and *thumbs up* love it. Bingge decides to play along with SY's delulu thoughts on gayness and everyone are happy.

The Many Trials and Tribulations of Ming Fan by The Feels Whale (miscellea) is great and I think often overlooked. A oneshot from MF's point of view on how to handle SQQ's wife beam, deeply funny to me. They also wrote-

Dust and Broken Grains , which is basically "Binghe discovers early that Crying Works" and it becomes a fix-it fic. but there's more to it than that!!! Love it a lot.

Celestial Afterglow by elanor_pam is just. So good. SO GOOD. It's hilarious, it uses the System in a way few fics ever does and it has me cackling every time I read it.

What Is Seen by CaveteDracones is a fix-it with a side of whump fic, where SQQ's trial at HHP goes VERY differently. Truth serum! Torture! System Reveal! Yay!

Dual Cultivate or Date by acernor is THE BingLiuShen fic out there. Adore it. I'm sure many have already appreciated it, but it doesn't hurt to remind others that it exists!

A Child Once by Tossawary is a very, very good BingQiu and MoShang fic, and I honestly love not only BingQiu being forced to play parents, but also the MobeiBing friendship? Great, amazing. All the relationships in this is great, and I know most have heard of Tossawary but if you haven't given this specific fic a chance you SHOULD.

easy fix by airplanelanding (TheCourtSorcerer) is a smutty cumplane oneshot, where they are friends with benefits (approved by their husbands) for whenever said husbands are unavailable for Dual Cultivation Cure. This fic just really captures the snark and is also *chefs kiss*

with the tail of the snake by tciddaemina is a very, very good monsterfucker!SQQ fic where Binghe became a dragon in the abyss. I LOVE IT. It's a WIP, but *clenches fist* it's just so good. Soft and gooey and so HHHH yes good. I would probably put all their svsss fics in here but I am running out of time!!

.... but I have enough time to recommend my other favorite fic from them, which isn't even svsss! And is how I found them to begin with!

come all ye mighty is a Solo Leveling fic! It's Igris/Jinwoo, from Igris' pov, and I love the world building in it. As they say in the author's notes, it's a little bit of an au since it doesn't follow the original plot of the comic, but I reread this so, so often. 10/10, if you like solo leveling at all please give it a go I BEG OF YOU.

I want to share a couple fic recs, AUs that are not canon compliant, but still deal with Binghe realizing Shen Yuan is different from Shen Jiu, and dealing with that. My first is Says the Shadow by tciddaemina. Shen Yuan is an Eldritch being that Binghe can sense as soon as he arrives and it scares the crap out of him. It gets worse as he realizes he is the only one who can see the creature growing out of Shen Qingqiu’s back, and he lives in his own little horror movie for the first half. One of my favorite monster lover fics, i always like to revisit it now that then. The next is The Time Traveler and the Transmigrator by The Charismatic Dragon. Time travel fic where Binghe goes back in time in the period after Shen Qingqiu self detonates. It’s supposed to take him to the moment he met his soulmate, so he immediately realizes something is up when he wakes up in the woodshed at fourteen instead of the day of his induction into Qing Jing Peak. This was one of the first fics I read, so I still have a lot of love for it, especially since it is mostly Binghe POV and the writer really nails him.

I've read both these fics and love them!!! I'm especially fond of says the shadow, there's something so special about binghe's terror realizing sqq has been bodysnatched by some eldritch horror that only he can see -> realizing the eldritch horror loves him. I don't remember A Transmigrator and a Time Traveler Walk Into the Bamboo House quite as well because it was also one of the first fics i read for svsss, but I do remember loving it, I feel like it's one of those fics everyone should read when they first start checking out svsss fics
