Being in Eraserhead's homeroom class is absolutely, categorically, not the goal. But it certainly doesn't hurt.

just had to come and yell your way!!! i absolutely ADORED the ending to make it to me and the entire process of reading it. everyone was so well written and the plot was so enrapturing!! i am so sad to see it finished, but absolutely ecstatic to read your future works and the epilogue!

i especially adored the relationship between reader and zan — absolutely perfect. genuinely one of my fav types of friendships too, so they were a delight to read! their interactions were so fun and just. ugh. gosh. it’s so bittersweet to see the end of this 😭

i also noticed that hint of erasermic thrown in. unless i’m just delusional LOL, but i had to comment and say i loved hizashi and shouta’s interactions too!! they were so good!! your grasp on characterization is absolutely fantastic.

Hahaha there was a tiny bit of Erasermic. I don't generally ship them in a full romantic monogamous relationship but as someone who's a little bit in love with my best friend I feel like that's something that never gets written about hahaha. I like exploring the ambiguity of relationships and the fact that labels can be both helpful and insufficient.

Anyone else have that one fic

That's just like so genuinely good? Like as a piece of writing? That you point to when you're like actually some fanfiction is just genuinely good literature.

That one fic that's not about the tropes or wish fulfillment but feels like a book because it's polished and the prose flows well and the plot is compelling and the pacing is solid and most of all the themes and perspective are actually cohesive and meaningful and important???

(Not trying to bash fanfic btw, we all know I'm here for tropes and wish fulfillment and indulgence, and I do think it's important for fanfiction to serve a different purpose than literature does.)

Mine is The Third Option by Uncertainty_Principle. I've read it multiple times and it's one of the few fics I've saved that doesn't centre on a romantic relationship (because let's be honest that's why I'm typically reading fanfic). It's like a novel but it really makes use of its medium of fanfiction by weaving in Canon and existing so thoughtfully alongside it. It's so impressive. (Also I'm not even really a big Marvel fan and it doesn't matter this fic still slaps.)

And I'm not saying I think all fanfic should be like this, most of the time I just want my treats that feed the bottomless trope monster within me.

Anyone else have a standout fic like this or is it just me? What's yours if you do have one?
