To everyone against cringe culture
Too fucking bad.
It’s here to stay.
What you’re doing IS cringey and you should stop.
I’m not going to go into everything right now so here are the basics.
Self inserts are boring and frankly quite stupid. Instead of actually working to make an interesting well thought out and balanced decent character here you are just making your bland can do no wrong Mary sue and shipping yourself with fictional characters. Self inserts kill creativity in younger writers. If all of your character amount to It’s me in this series you have a problem and are a shitty writer that needs to improve.
Self shipping is not healthy. I frankly don’t care if it’s “escapism” or if you “know the difference between fiction and reality” Being obsessed with this fictional character will bring nothing but trouble. It may seem okay to you but actually normal people will be disturbed and not want to associate with your creepy ass. Maybe if you put down your waifu pillow, took a shower for the first time in years, got out of the basement people and acted normal they would actually want to be around you.
Special interesrs/hyper focus is not healthy. Spending all of your time obsessing with a thing is not okay. Obsession 👏 is 👏 not 👏 a 👏 good 👏 thing 👏 in 👏 any 👏 sort 👏 of 👏 context! 👏 You need to work on controlling your obsessive nature. You can focus on other things if you actually tried. You dont need to spend hours on end doing whatever your special interest is. You can expand your horizons and do other things if you fucking try. It’s not hard.
Calling out people on bad art is needed for the artist and other artists to grow. If you went to an actual art school with your shitty anime art you would be laughed out of the school. People need to be told they didn’t do good enough so they can improve. Sugar coating and holding their hand will only hurt them in the long run. They will have no back bone and will lash out at critique and they will basically end up being Andrew Dobsons wallowing in their own mediocrity until they decide to change. Are you going to be a wittle fragile snowflake and cry or are you going to grow thicker skin and actually work to get better to prove them wrong? Your choice.
Acting stupid or weird on the internet should get you called out. You are making people feel weird and uncomfortable and if you don’t like it well tough fucking shit grow a fucking pair snowflake. This is actually important with kids too. If they grow up thinking their weird shit is okay there will basically be a new generation of Chris Chans. Do you want that? No? Well call them out and let them know what they are doing isn’t okay so they know and can have a chance to change.
More later.
self inserts are how most writers start, a lot of artists talk about how they started by drawing themselves in different ways or writing a character they relate to, a character with quirks like them so it’s easier to write? i know that’s how i started drawing? that’s how lots of little kids start drawing? the same applies to writing and all art forms honestly..
self shipping in fanfiction. ok. i don’t understand why people do that but honestly who cares if children are just having a bit of fun online. i understand if it’s a 40 year old man shipping himself with a young anime girl but i mostly think it’s harmless fun for kids especially. idk how old you are but if ur an adult stfu and if ur a minor u are really fucking boring dude
special interest/hyperfocus is literally an autism thing.. i’m p sure it also applies to people with add/adhd. what you’ve said is super ableist, just let people enjoy themselves? also sometimes, for me, what i end up liking isn’t exactly what i planned? i get into random things and it just sticks. i’ve been a marvel fan for like 1-2 years now and it’s never been unhealthy or consumed my life? it’s only ever consumed my tumblr page. and “it’s not hard to just focus on other things uwu” do you have autism/add/adhd? if not you have no idea
there’s a real big fucking difference from yelling at an 11 year old on the internet for how cancer their art is and how they should kill themselves and actually giving them tips like “hey i like what you did with x but maybe you could work on x?” or just leaving it alone because you don’t care if that kid gets made fun of at school you’re only trying to make fun of them on the internet and have a reason to harass children until they delete their account and never end up pursuing art ever again because they were bullied so much online for trying something out. fuck you.
calling out creeps online that are pedos or calling out hatespeech or being really suicide baity deserves a callout, kids talking about their favourite snack or what they did that day or what their favourite anime is doesn’t matter? get a fucking life my dude none of these points make sense
i honestly think that you’re just making excuses to bully kids online and get away with it
this person is literally advocating for the erasure of neurodivergent traits. special interests and hyperfocus arent things you can ever get rid of. it’s wired into your brain. op, go fuck yourself
Op has never had any creativity in their life, I can tell
When it comes to making works of fiction (art, fanfiction) the biggest thing you should worry about is this: “is this hurtful/offensive?”
If its racist, dont do it,
If its homophobic, dont do it,
If its transphobic, dont do it,
If it fetishizes things like incest/pedophilia/abuse, dont do it
If it romanticizes disorders/mental illnesses or infantilizes people with disorders/mental illnesses, dont do it
If its discriminatory in general, dont do it,
If its just what assholes (with nothing better to do with their time than bully children) would call “””cringy”””, but otherwise entirely harmless, then go ahead and do it. Do what makes you happy. Do what helps you cope. Do what helps you unleash your creativity. Just have fun in a harmless way :)
Controversial opinion here but bullying a child is inherently harmful, that same child making a sonic OC and drawing FNAF fanart is not.
Oh jesus christ the more i go through OP’s blog the worse it gets.
According to OP, not being a professional artist who makes characters with complex, realistic, human like personalities at the age of 10 makes you a cringy idiot stupid kid whos making an idiot of yourself.
According to OP, being autistic/AD(H)D and having harmless special interests, like cartoons, games, comics, due to your autism/AD(H)D is “”creepy”” and “”unhealthy””” ((nice ableism, OP, its almost like neurodivergent people dont already get demonized in the media enough))
According to OP, critique is the same as telling young, impressionable artists that their art is “literally cancer” and that they should “kill themselves” for drawing something from their favorite videogame
And OP literally sounds like a stereotypical school bully. Like they literally say “snowflake”,,,, in 2018,,,, in the year of our good lord,,, they say “”””snowflake”” to kids who dont appreciate being bullied.
Imagine dedicating a whole blog to bullying children & defending people/a whole internet culture about bullying children,,, get a fucking life bro.
Here’s hoping OP never has, works with, or spends extended periods of time around children and/or ND individuals.

I know this is preaching to the choir, but there are various people I’ve seen in both regular and art colleges who engage in things like “special interests,” and even a lot of artists who have portfolios of fan art of anime in the anime style that have been wildly successful. To shut down young kids who are just trying to be artists, just because they aren’t drawing the content you personally enjoy, is not only extremely rude but to drag them publically is devastating. In fact cringe culture has gotten to be so toxic in the lives of children that it’s practically normal for kids to call things they don’t like “cringey,” and saying that someone is cringey is a form of bullying. Is that what you want to be, the internet equivalent of the 6th grade bully who picks on kindergarteners and first graders just because you feel they “deserve it”?
