EVERYONE FUCK OFF THEY ADDED CGMS TO SIMS 4
beautiful women named "dexcom g6 app" keep texting me on my phone
FYI for my adhesive-sensitive dia-buddies (or anyone who has to wear medical equipment and reacts to the adhesive)
1. Make sure the area is as clean as possible before application AND as dry as possible (you might want to wait a while if you just showered)
2. Some people swear by applying unscented deodorant on the site about 15 mins before applying your device. It should theoretically reduce sweating (and water/sweat is never your friend when it comes to adhesives)
3. I like to spray Flonase on the site about 5 mins before applying my sensor. It doesn’t stop my reaction to the Dexcom adhesive, but it does seem to reduce irritation from some of the other adhesives.
4. You can use barrier flims such as IVprep. These create a thin film that theoretically prevent the adhesive from touching your skin. The don’t work great for me, but I know a couple of people who swear by them.
5. For people who are very allergic to whatever adhesive they’re using I recommend using some sort of bandage/dressing. I use tegaderm with a tiny hole cut in the middle (protip- it’s usually a lot cheaper online than in stores). Tegederm tends to peel if you get sweaty, if it’s a huge problem you can actually try cutting a hole in a hydrocolloid bandage and using that instead.
6. In addition to adding tegederm under my Dexcom, I also add some mastisol (it’s a very strong adhesive, a little goes a long way) and an overpatch (I use skin-grips) to keep everything secured. But before you add anything to your sensor make sure you don’t react to it too!
that terrible moment when you have a high blood sugar and are super hungry at the same time, so you have to wait for your blood sugar to come down for hours in a barely-energized state
diabetic culture is getting a new box of cgm/pump supplies in the mail and immediately racing inside to open it while narrating everything like you're in a cringy youtube video
me: what a great time to do that thing i want to do :)
my bloodsugar: no. fuck you.
what’re some silly things you did when you’ve had a high or a low blood sugar? just now i dumped out my glass of water, which i just poured a second before, and then placed it on a nearby bookshelf before realizing “wait that doesn’t make any sense at all and also i’m supposed to be drinking this”
the signs as things that make my blood sugar spike

staying up late to get something finished and being able to crash for the night afterwards is all good and fine until your blood sugar starts crashing instead... tired and did not ask for this...
do u ever decide that ur gunna go to bed early....bc ur exhausted.......and then ur blood sugar is just like.........what if we just took an absolute nosedive instead............
diabetic culture is being used to drinking orange juice after brushing your teeth because of a badly-timed low
anyone else feel like they become twice as smart and introspective during their lows... i may be a philosopher right now, but watch me walk into english class tomorrow without a single thought
The Flame of Hope is an eternal flame that honors Sir Frederick Banting’s discovery of insulin, as well as all those who have been affected by diabetes. Simultaneously, it serves as a reminder that insulin controls diabetes but does not cure it; ultimately, it stands for the hope that a cure will soon be found.
The Flame will only be extinguished when a cure for diabetes is developed. The team responsible for finding the cure will be flown in to do so.
The Flame of Hope was kindled before 4,000 spectators by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother on July 7, 1989.
