Just fucking commit. Seriously. I do shots, and I find if you just fucking put it in as opposed to slowly, it'll hurt less. Throw on some heavy music and just fucking do it.

Also, when pulling it out when doing sub-q, pull out a bit, let the skin go so it goes around the meds and traps it, then pull the rest out. This'll reduce leakage massively.

the tip to reduce leakage for subq helped SO much, my doctor didn't really go over how to do the shots so i'm just figuring it out

obligatory inject-ease plug. It's an auto-injector that you load a syringe into, and there's a button that you press which then springs the syringe down.

It's technically designed for insulin syringes, but I've used it on standard ones and it worked amazing with that too.

Aahhh i did consider getting one. But alas. I got luer lock syringes from my doctor 😔 it only works with luer slip

I know my identity as a canine cladotherian influences my gender. Theres lots of dog related genders out there! If you look on Pinterest youll probably find a lot honestly lol. But it could just be plain a part of your identity as well!

ofc you can always make up your own thing or even not label it. Sometimes being content with knowing what you are and how you feel without putting a name to it feels nice.

Heyo boy, So a few things about injections:

As Long As You are injecting subcutaneously which honestly is like 6 mm depending on where you're injecting at you're not going to hit any veins or anything and you're going to be okay.

Stomach is the best part to inject into in my opinion but you will have difficulty injecting near stretch marks or scars because it's a thicker skin because of collagen production.

Honestly they say to pull out the fluid with an 18 gauge needle I don't do that. I just use whatever needle I'm about to put in my body because it's pretty sterile make sure to sterilize the top of the bottle too.

You're going to be a lot hungrier, carry around trail mix I promise you it's like the perfect pinch next to sunflower seeds.

Stomach and thighs, in the fatty area. That's the easiest place to inject. Sometimes SubQ needles are hard to find in certain sizes, I usually go with a 30-25gauge needle try to stay under 25, otherwise you're gonna be piercing yourself essentially.

This is all beautiful, very helpful info, the trail mix thing is something i definitely should try bc im already SO HUNGRY, and i use 25 gauge needles already for my injections, BUT

The reason they tell you to draw up the medication with a larger needle is for 2 reasons. #1, its just easier to use a bigger needle bc T is thick, but the most important thing #2 when you puncture the top of the vial it dulls the needle and can even slightly curve the tip of it (creating a hook) and cause stuff like bruising, more scar tissue, and its more painful to then use that on your skin. Regardless of sterilization, I prefer my needles to be perfectly sharp so they just go in and out instead of hurting more or potentially doing more damage 😭 and regardless, i got a bunch of 18 and 25 gauge needles for like $4 from PP

How to deal with shorter waiting times? If everything goes right I can change my legal name and gender in August and, start T around October/November. It's getting so close I am SCREAMING. Long waiting times just felt hopeless but the short waiting time seems to just annoy me. Do you have any clue? Distraction doesn't help

Unfortunately you might just have to sit tight and wait it out.. i waited about 7 years to get on hrt myself, and when i finally made the appointment for a month after i initially requested it, it was torturous waiting. I think i spent a lot of the time thinking about how the appointment was going to go, researching more, imagining the things hrt was going to do to me and when each thing would start, what i might look like.

And then most of the time i really just tried to focus on art, by friends, and my job lol. But then i ended up walking out with my T same day so.

Let me tell you it was worse waiting a few days for my chosen injection day. I actually started my hrt early bc it really got to me lol.

It went okay. It was my first time doing it alone. I ended up forgetting to get all the air out of the needle first (which i know isnt technically a huge issue with subq but i dont wanna deal with that.) And i hyped myself up a huge amount and finally got it in, only to realize the air thing 😭 and for me, who has a needle phobia and is working on it, that was huge for me, but then i had to PULL IT OUT, change the needle, and then DO IT AGAIN 😭😭😭💔💔💔💔

it didnt really hurt either time though cause i iced it. But i did bleed this time and then leak out t bc i hurried up and pulled the needle out 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

how do u feel abt transmeds?

Oh we're talking about transmeds now..

I really dont like their viewpoints or aggressiveness. I believe that any kind of transition is valid and people should be allowed to choose whether they medically transition or not. They also dont really account for those who CANT medically transition.

The idea that every trans man has to make his best effort to look exactly like a cis man and the opposite for trans women and go on hrt and get surgery is outrageous especially in this economy and political climate. Trans men and women do not owe you any specific gender representation regardless. The fact that it spawns images like these is insane.

The only thing i dont like seeing involving medical transitions is people going on testosterone for example without listening to or reading any of the side effects and then they stop and complain about it forever bc "they didnt expect their voice to drop and stay that way forever" even though the doctor, internet, and packet they make you read and then sign all say so🫩

but feminine trans men that dont bind and still use he/him pronouns are not the problem here you guys, suck it up

i did a lot of consideration into the kind of t i wanted to do:

Ive heard that after a while on gel, i think it was 1-2 years? absorption goes down and you form a bit of a resistance to it

I have 9 different animals in my house right now and im concerned about their health and safety, especially with my super lovey cat

Im working on my injection/needle phobia and im at a point where i can successfully inject myself! I just did it for the second time last night :]

I just think subq is the right thing for me personally :] i definitely heavily considered doing gel to avoid the needles, but alas, the above points.

Oh yeah did my first testosterone shot friday night. I iced it for like 15 minutes, freaked out and had my partner do it, and when they put the needle in i was like "..oh. thats it??" Bc it was so painless 😭 gonna be ez to do it again later

Catch me reusing my t vials even though theyre "single use" bc im only on 0.3 ml and the bottles are 1 ml 😈

Btw dont do this if your t doesnt have preservatives in it and you can only do it for 20 something days after the first injection you draw up from it before you have to throw it away. Also keep it clean obviously
