on the topic of disabled characters, though, i think a LOT of artists give characters mobility aids that their character wouldn't actually benefit from using.
i'm sort of having a mild brain fog moment rn so i can't fully articulate what i'm on about, but i think a lot of able-bodied artists view things like canes and crutches as interchangeable. and they often don't know enough about the wide range of mobility aids to make an informed decision about what their character might actually use based on their disability
i also think that aids like walkers and rollators are sort of viewed as "cringe" on some level, and many people view them to be "just for old people," so many artists will opt for giving a character who has full-body pain and fatigue a cane (which, in many cases, can potentially WORSEN full-body pain) instead. and a lot of people don't realize that most wheelchair users are able to walk, so they don't consider it an option for characters with chronic pain
idk it's kind of frustrating. i've genuinely never, ever seen a character that uses a rollator before. not once. i cannot name a single one. i know of multiple ocs who are described to have full-body pain, dizziness, and fatigue that are drawn as cane users and are never shown with wheelchairs or walkers, though
it's also sort of sad? i've been diagnosed since i was twelve years old, and i only heard of rollators LAST YEAR. and that was only because i saw one irl and immediately asked what it was. i wonder how many disabled people out there don't even know it's an option solely because they're completely underrepresented online and in media
if you're a creative with a disabled oc, PLEASEEE check out this link. it's a very nice and detailed guide for telling which mobility aids suit someone's needs best. it's incredibly important to make the right choice for your character! mobility aids tell you a LOT about someone's lived experience. picking the right one will communicate to your audience #1 what your character goes through #2 that you UNDERSTAND what your character goes through!
Thinking about a new bit where i start using āworkers of the worldā as my go-to second person plural pronoun. Like āchatā.
Workers of the world what do we think of this. Is it funny.
Workers of the world please like and reblog my post
The acronym is technically wrong, but my brain decided that "workers of the world = WoW" and now I'm enjoying the sheer level of multiple layers of meaning we can end up with.
"WOW, what do we think of this?"
Is it....
"Workers of [the] world, what do we think of this?"
"World of Warcraft, what do we think of this?"
Or literally just "Wow, what do we think of this?"
The best part is that they are all feasible interpretations.

you are not immune to inventing an arbitrary set of rules that only you have to adhere to
I know we make jokes about the proverbial asexual pervert who has written hundreds of thousands of words of smut on ao3, but also shoutout to the aces who arenāt perverts. to the aces who skip the sex scenes and wince at sex jokes and awkwardly leave the conversation when your friends start talking about sex. your boundaries arenāt childish and fuck anyone who says otherwise.
It seems like Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg have started working on their next movie together and Iām so back on my bullshit with these guys.
First Edgar and Simon both posted this to their separate instagram accounts.
Then Simon posted this a few months later.
Thereās no way to predict what itās going to be about but Iāve heard whispers that it might lean more towards drama than their other works so I wouldnāt be surprised if it deals with mental health.
Both Simon and Nick have been very open about struggling with depression and trying to slowly kill themselves, Simon with alcohol and Nick with food, due to feeling isolated (Simonās depression is more of a hormonal disorder while Nicksās is a reaction to trauma and PTSD) which was why Gary was a depressed and suicidal alcoholic in The Worldās End.
Theyāve also been very open about their queerplatonic relationship thatās far deeper and more physical than a regular friendship.
By now most people know about them sharing a one-person bed for nine months out of necessity when they were young and occasionally sleeping in the same bed for comfort even to this day, but also when Nickās mom died he collapsed on the floor of his hotel room crying and screaming for Simon who rushed in to hold him and it didnāt even occur to them that Nick was naked the whole time until afterwards.
But also having to acknowledge that while theyāre each otherās biggest comfort they havenāt always been the best for each other when it came to coping with their mental health. They had to get better separately to be happy and healthy together later.
Simon especially has talked about how being part of the Mission Impossible franchise saved him because it surrounded him with people who knew how to help him overcome his alcohol addiction.
Seeing how both Simon and Nick likes to play roles that are adjacent to their own situations and Edgar very much encourages them to normalize talking about mental health as well as be ambassadors for non-sexual male intimacy I wouldnāt be surprised if they lean into that considering the post Simon made. Everything around that is a complete mystery tho.
Or maybe Simon just crash into a fence again š¤·
