It was the matching lopsided smile that gave both father and son away when they sneaked downstairs, Isaac eagerly rushing forwards to climb on the sofa. "Molly, wake up!" Without mercy, though, the kid's stream of words went on. "Daddy and I made a cake for our birthday girl. That's you, of course. And there's presents!" Sím stood by, watching silently as his son poked Molly's sides incessantly. "Happy Birthday, Molly!" Isaac sang in a tremulous voice, excited and impatient.
The fog of sleep muddled Isaac’s words, leaving Molly only able to make out ‘birthday girl’, and ‘happy birthday’. Rubbing at her eyes, she shifted on the cushions with a tired groan, attempting to force herself into wakefulness so the boy didn’t think she didn’t appreciate his efforts. His excitement was infectious after all.
“That’s right, it’s my birthday…” She grinned. “And for my first birthday gift, I really, really wanna do this…” Without further warning, she dug her fingers into Isaac’s sides, tickling him without mercy.
