I just recieved… I recieved the news Rook might be getting replaced in Forsaken… Not the old news that toki’s leaving the team, but the news that Rook might be swapped out with a fellow star glitcher (that might follow a jester archetype).

I want to fully explain just how genius of a character Rook was.

Rook was tied to Guest 1337. Rook was a military sergeant in a division dedicated to dealing with exploiters.

Rook was a Star Glitcher.

Although it may not be apparent, Rook is a multi-layered oxymoron. He’s like if a paradox could talk. He was with dealing with exploiters, and yet uses one of the most famous scripts in the entirety of Roblox. Furthermore, Rook is a composed, tactical person judging by the art, and yet uses a script well-known for its flashy, chaotic, and destructive properties.

The idea of making a character a Star Glitcher, while still being related to Guest 1337, who’s mostly known for their time in the military, sounds impossible at first glance. The two are not even close fo relating. In fact, they’re nearly opposites.

And Toki? Toki embraced that. Furthermore, the hypocrisy was highlighed by the addition of the whole “determined to hunt exploiters” idea. He made it so that the focus of the character was that it was illogical, clashing with itself, and entirely backwards.

This art showcases that. Rook is nicely drawn, shaded, and generally detailed. His outfit is mainly a mute, dark gray with faint blue highlights. The background, however, is simplistic red and white, representing the wings, back circle, and halo.

The contrast is sharp. One is dark and detailed, and the other is bright and simplistic. One is dark and blue, and the other is white and red.

ROOK IS A WALKING HYPOCRITE. HIS OXYMORONIC NATURE IS WHAT DEFINES HIS CHARACTER. THESE TWO IDEAS OF BEING IN THE MILITARY AND BEING A STAR GLITCHER WERENT EVEN CLOSE TO BEING SIMILAR, AND TOKI EMBRACES THAT CONCEPT INSTEAD OF DOING MENTAL GYMNASTICS. IT WAS PERFECT.

I trust Toki, but with the genius that was Rook, I find it pretty hard to believe that lightning can and will strike twice.
