She was never meant to be in this position. Her parents promised her to the church and yet here she was, days after being told there was a change of plans and that she would be marrying him instead of her twin sister. Did he even know it was her instead of Karlie?
"I..." She didn't have a choice. It was her duty to marry him and...represent the family. But God, did he even know? "Did...did they tell you it would be me instead of my sister marrying you now? I'm Jalon, not Karlie. They told you, yes?"
She didn't want him in the dark; if he didn't know he was getting her instead of Karlie, then he needed to be told.

“. . .ow.” The stoic doctor grumbles while Nurse Mitzi works on the bandage. Artie had gotten a scalpel through the shoulder after letting one of their reagent patients loose from their binds on good behavior. Good behavior that only lasted about ten seconds before the reagent grabbed a weapon and stabbed them. They were able to press the panic button under their desk before anymore damage could be done. The guards took the reagent away, leaving Artie to be tended by the nurse.
