For all those people that are like “I can’t stand living through historical events”, you do realize historical events happen literally all the time. Like that’s how history happens, that’s the whole thing. Yeah, shit be sucking, but shit be sucking for a long ass time. no but i've just been thinking about this bc i'm still reading Ambush by Rachelly (it's not great. it's 220k. it was published during s2. there's a lot of orbs and the young hunter and such. it's fun) and the sam portrayed in it is like. the idealized version of sam early seasons dean has in mind. he's the perfect little brother, the siren from S&V has nothing on him. he gets mauled nonstop which allows dean to care for him and he never loses the faith that dean will take care for him and when he does break down all it takes to put him back together is a pep talk from dean. he reciprocates dean's affection but in a little brother way that does not threaten the status quo. funnest part is that at one point a hunter - who's been trying to kill sam - shoots at dean with the intent to kill him. sam wounds the hunter to incapacitate him and when that pushes the hunter into a body of water sam jumps after him and tries to rescue him. this contrasts so much with sam killing jake in ahbl but also it reminds me of dean in the beginning of s9 saying that he stashed Crowley away instead of killing him bc he stopped to think What Would Sam Winchester Do, to which sam responds that he would stab him in the brain. this idealized version of sam wasn't real even in s1 but dean keeps holding on to it but what he doesn't get is that while sam's perfect he's also full of womanly rage. and now i'm thinking about Sam, Interrupted and sam confessing that he's angry, all the time, and he doesn't know why, and how being held up to this idealized version of yourself has gotta be a part of the anger issues. sam should've gone girled him
