He’s soaked to the bone. His clothes are heavy, his hair is clinging to his face, his horse keeps shaking her mane to try and dry off but failing to do so in the downpour. Link grips the reins with a frozen grip. His eyes don’t stray from where they need to go. He’s exhausted and cold. The sooner he gets home, the better.
Hateno is silent when he finally finds it. Everyone is inside, away from the rain. His horse seems happy to see her stable behind the house and trots over there with newfound energy. Link quickly helps her dry off and tries to get her as warm as possible before finally sloshing his way into his own house.
Water drips onto the floor below him, quickly creating a puddle. The drops are almost as loud as the rain as Link just stands there. In the dark, cold, empty house. He shakes himself like a dog — more water drips to the ground and form many more puddles.
He leaves a trail of clothes behind him. His shoes are first with their lakes of rain water inside that had soaked his feet in freezing water. His socks are next, so waterlogged that he doubts they’ll ever be dry. He lights the lanterns in his house and quickly gets a fire going. His pants are gone once that is done, hung up to dry in front of the toasty fire. He leaves wet footprints on his stairs as his tunic is crumpled onto the floor — sopping wet and cold. He rips the blankets from his bed and more from his drawer. One of them is wrapped around his shoulders to soak up the water as he nearly slips down the stairs.
The storm continues to roar outside. Lightning flashes and thunder rolls, the rain sounds like a dull roar as it pelts the ground below. And Link, finally inside and dry, sniffles in his sleep.

Hi! I know this isn’t Final Fantasy VIII related, but another video game series I really love is the Legend of Zelda series! This project aims to take video game inspired recipes and compile them into a cookbook full of beautiful art and photographs all inspired by a certain Hero and his “breath taking” adventures in the “wild”. I am one of the artists working on this project! It would mean a whole lot to me if you would consider backing or passing this along so others can see it! We have plenty of goodies included in the rewards, such as stickers, measurement conversion posters, aprons, and even an opportunity to have a pixel art version of yourself included in the book! If you are interested, please follow this link to the Kickstarter page. We’re almost there, but we have lots of stretch goals that will make the book even better.
