My list of quotes for Whipping Girl so far is half a mile long. I do find it interesting that Serano's critique of gender as described by social constructivists does rather deftly expose that a lot of them thought/still think sex is immutable. E.g., "gender as performance but still linked to something inherent like genitals" (it is always genitals). It's a nice little sleight of hand that cissexual transphobes do to assert the "natural" gender identities they have versus the unnatural ones we have.
The segue into cissexual gender entitlement as Serano discusses is then self-evident.
