the way that everyone expects all media (or at least all non sf/ live action) to be a true depiction of real life instead of just reminding people "well this is fictional" or "sometimes creative liberties are taken to tell a story" or "character choices are about that character not about reality" is another side of the same media illiteracy problem that spawns takes like "i dont wanna read first person bc i didnt do that dumb shit" (which i still hope was just a joke but who knows) & i rly think making everyone apologize and walk back anything that takes creative liberties about the world is just reinforcing this idea
