The Hunger Games Appreciation Week ➳ Day 6: District(s) ● District 4

District 4 is one of the wealthiest districts of Panem. Its major industry is fishing, and the children are trained for jobs in this industry from a young age. The bread from this district is a salty, fish-shaped loaf, tinted green by seaweed. District 4 is also a Career District, where children illegally train for and subsequently volunteer for the Games. Training in the district's fishing industry is also useful for tributes, as they have experience in swimming, using nets and tridents, making fishhooks from scratch, and identifying edible sea life. District 4 is located along the Pacific Coast, stretching through modern-day California and Oregon, bordered by District 7 to the North and Districts 1 and 5 to the East.

Lily floated on her back, listening to the quiet drip drip drip of one of the many faucets in the Prefect’s Bathroom. The water fell every second or so, the only indicator that time was passing, leaving her otherwise in a suspended moment. She was at the mercy of the bath’s current, her body drifting in whatever direction the water saw fit, and she need only keep her limbs spread out so she could stay afloat. She was an observer rather than an active participant. After a long week of facilitating JWL recruitment, lazing in warm, lavender scented water was a welcome reprieve. 

The sudden noise of the bathroom door being thrust open punched a hole through her calm. She startled and promptly lost her equilibrium, her head slipping under the water. She surfaced a second later, choking on the ocean’s worth of water she had inhaled and blinking blearily at the new arrival through eyes stinging with soap. “’lo?” Lily managed to get out between coughing up bubble bath.
