Was listening to music after studying today, so I figured I'd draw some tiny maglors to round out the day :)
I finished my sketchbook today~ (started it last October) so instead of trying to do a masterpiece on the last page I just did a bunch of doodles :)
Got into Witch Hat Atelier last year sometime and yesterday finally got around to drawing Qifrey. And we've got some pictures of Coco too :D
(I'd forgotten my pencil so this was just inked straight without sketching first which is not what I typically do, but I don't think it went tooooooo badly...)
My favourite is definitely the top right one of Qifrey. I was using the manga for reference (hanging out at the public library with a friend so there were books right there), and I really like how it turned out tbh.
So I think I mentioned my 'minor' obsession with Stray Kids- *ahem. My 'rediscovery' of Stray Kids about... 6-7 months ago now? (I hadn't been paying more than peripheral attention to them since a bit after God's Menu came out since that was when I pretty much dropped out of kpop altogether) Anyway. The aforementioned obsession has by no means gone away, and while I haven't done any fanart recently here's a sketch/paintings dump of my attempts to draw these guys
(this is by no means perfect, this is just to show the struggles of a mostly anime/manga centered artist trying to draw realism)
For the first two - I like the one on the left the best
Then for the next two - this was my trying out drawing them then inking it in. It worked better than I thought it would, and I quite like these ones:
(I couldn't get any better quality pictures for these btw- since most of my drawing books are in a completely different country rn-)
I quite like the next ones - I think I was getting the hang of drawing them a bit more by this point:
Then we have an experiment to see if I could do watercolour painting without outlines and still have it look good - I'd say it worked out pretty well:
These next ones are a bit more recent - as in. actually from this year
The ones below are a bit rough since I was using a pen and couldn't erase any mistakes - I quite like the one on the right though :D
Then we have my attempt at digital colouring - it looks a bit uncanny since I was specifically practicing facial rendering - and didn't bother to do his neck... but this is the latest attempt I've done so far. I basically never do realism digitally - this was my... third attempt at that like, ever? So I reckon it went alright considering I have only tried doing this with an actual human face twice prior to this. (you do not want to see what those looked like - they were.. nightmare fuel to put it lightly)
Anyway, that sums up the creative labour I have put into my current obsession over the last six months.
Despite my posting mainly fanart for other stuff, these guys have been the subject of most of my fan content and actual ('canon?' dunno if that applies to like. actual ppl) content consumption pretty much exclusively for A While Now. This is my first time being in a fandom based around actual real-life people with actual non-animated/stylised faces - so trying to figure out how to do fanart has been pretty difficult.
Anime characters are way easier to draw since they have character designs that have been chosen specifically to make them recognisable - as opposed to having actual human faces that are Very Difficult to simplify as I am by no means a master of cartoon-ification or stylised caricatures.
That aside, I've been meaning to post these for a while, just never got round to it, so here it is at last~
Being into Stray Kids is probably the least likely to overlap fandom out of all of the ones I'm currently part of, but I don't particularly care, They're hilarious - not quite younger than me (I still find it weird to be older than kpop idols in groups I like - it's a bit sobering to think about how someone the age of one of your lil siblings has accomplished a ton more than you) and I like a lot of their music. So yeah.
Probably not gonna post this sort of thing often, but if I do make more fanart that I think is decent it will likely make its way on here eventually~
:D
Forgot to post this, but this is another 'figuring out inking stuff' picture I did recently :D
Day 22 of Inktober, 'Button' :)
Main reason I'm putting this here is because I find the bit from 0:07-05 just really satisfying to watch. And I wanted you guys to see it too :D (this is a bsd 'dazai getting on chuuya's nerves' wip btw, probably not gonna do the entire song, but eh, you never know *shrugs)
