i get so fucking mad when i see people go “yeah these characters are like siblings even though they aren’t related!! haha i wish they were REAL siblings!!”

you’re telling me my adopted sister isn’t my “real” sister because she’s adopted? she’s just as much my sister as my fucking blood related sister. fuck, in order to be siblings it doesn’t even have to be in the eyes of the government! found family, assholes. and step siblings! i know not everyone thinks of their step siblings as siblings, because of whatever reasons, but that shouldn’t discount the ones that do. half siblings too. foster siblings count too, even if they aren’t there for your whole life. this means that families who host exchange students count as well! and!! siblings that are siblings through adoption but weren’t the adopted kid. my sister’s siblings are pretty much my siblings too! i’m technically an aunt and have a little brother. also important even though it kinda counteracts the point of the post, not everyone thinks of these people in their lives like siblings and that’s okay. i only just met my sister’s siblings and that’s how i refer to them. it feels wrong to claim them as mine, and THAT’S okay as well. normalize it.

get rid of the disgusting belief that family has to be by blood. if someone tries to tell me my sister isn’t my real sister, they’re getting ripped to pieces. we look like we could be related, but once someone learns she’s adopted everything fucking changes out of nowhere. whatever piece of shit that thinks we have a barrier between us because we’re not blood related can shut the fuck up. we grew up together. she’s lived in my house longer than i have. for fucks sake if i see someone with an adopted sibling that puts adopted in front of it every single time i’m gonna go to jail.
