“Well, it’s not good, but I think you’ll survive.” Holden managed a weak smile as he rested his hand over the thick layering of bandages he had just applied to Eric’s side. Thankfully, it didn’t appear that any blood and made it through the gauze just yet, but he expected by morning they might be soaked through.
“How do you feel? I’m not sure what kind of painkillers I have left, but I can take a look if you’re still hurting.”
it stung more than anything else. a feeling reminiscent of little teeth gnawing at his side where skin was scraped && torn. as holden worked to cover unnervingly pink newly exposed flesh, not a peep would be heard from eric he had, after all, brought it on himself.
had the roles been reversed there was no doubt in eric’s mind that he would be doing the same, if not ten times worse ; insisting on gauze, forcing a smile, offering medication. but being the person to receive the care instead of administer it gave him a better view on the severity of the incident or rather, the lack thereof. a morning jog ended in an embarrassing skid across gravel covered trail. it wasn’t the end of the world, even if his ego would disagree.
eric’s hand soon joined holden’s where it rested on the bandage, a gentle pat indicating that he could stop fretting whenever he felt ready. ❝ i feel fine. no painkillers needed, ❞ eric assured, laughter bubbling up as he relived the incident for what felt like the billionth time. ❝ i can never go back there again. i’ll always be that guy who ate ass by the elm tree and not even in the good way!! ❞
“Have you managed to bore everyone with your morally induced lectures, or shall I round up another grouping for you?”

{-- There was no greater loss than that of a loved one. Tauriel had never know this, not until Kili's death. She wept over his form for longer than she would have cared to admit. He was apart of her humanity, holding onto it for a single hope of something more than being locked away within Mirkwood; enveloped by the darkness that had over taken the once great green. She should have known better than to give herself in to such a mortal emotion, but she was young and naive. Tauriel longed for something more than what she knew, and it was because of that longing that she had gone against the word of her King.
Of course she expected punishment, but to be banished? No, that had never been something she expected. Thranduil could be vicious, but he'd never shown that with her, so the banishment had taken her by surprise. But that was long forgotten by the time she'd met his gaze as she leaned over Kili's body. The way her King looked upon her. She could see it within his eyes; pity and understanding.
Thus after her silent goodbye to the fallen Prince, she had followed her own King in silence, absently minding her own sorrows. It wasn't until they reached Dale that the Elleth dared to even look upon her King. Brows came to a knot as her emotions crawled up her throat, the urge to reach out to him growing stronger by the minute, only earning a small whine. Barely audible.
Nipping at the inside of her mouth Tauriel continued in silence until they reached Thranduil's tent in the center of Dale. She knew very well that he would have more pressing matters to attend to, but as soon as they were alone she couldn't help herself. With a bow of her head and two very eager steps forward, the longing to reach out to him grew once more. "My king.." Tauriel's gaze locked onto his, praying he would address her. Perhaps it was a foolish attempt, but she needed to voice it.
"Am I still banished?"}
{-- By the time she had come to terms with the deaths of the royal line, Tauriel had also realized just how much she needed to find Dis. It had taken a few days after the battle finished, but Tauriel managed to do so. For a good hour the Elleth debated leaving the stones and running, fear of what would happen finally coming forth. Three brave men had fought for what they believed in, fought for their homes and they'd all perished. Tauriel had been utterly devastated over Kili's death, and that was before the truth hit her that Fili and Thorin were both gone as well. They were all gone, Mahal had taken them from this plane and they would never see the happiness of their people again.
However, now the red haired Elf found herself standing exactly where she needed to be. Word had passed that those whom had survived would be travelling home, but Tauriel wanted to be here before they did. Dis deserved to have those stones back, she deserved to know. Her nerves clawed at her throat, stomach turning into knots, fingers fidgeting at her sides. Oh Aule, the stones were suddenly so much heavier in her pockets than they had been prior.
As the little Dwarven lady suddenly came into Tauriel's sight line, the Elf remembered she'd knocked thirty seconds prior. Now? Now she wasn't sure what to say, how to start. "D..Dis." Her voice found itself as light orbs blinked, trying to will away the tears. Oh god, she could see Kili in Dis. There was no turning back now. "I..I'm so sorry." It was then that the heavy stones found their way into her palm as she brought them forward to the female Dwarf.
"They..they were so brave..so strong - and I couldn't.."
The tears fell with little warning and suddenly fiery locks waved around her shoulders, Tauriel's body collapsing within itself as she felt the hard ground beneath the weight of her knees. How pathetic she must have seemed, showing up at Dis's doorsteps only to have a break down before the woman she'd never met. Again her voice trembled forth and another apology fell out.
"Amin hiraetha." }
