Ooooh I see that you have a folder for outtakes and deleted scenes ;) do we get a peek at them? (Love your writing, by the way!)
Hahaha, okay, at this point I should probably warn you that I’m more of a planner/ architect-type writer than a ‘pantser’. My stories tend to go through a lot of cycles of note-making and then writing before being ready - the end result being that a lot of my “outakes” wind up as a kind of concept gumbo of idea-notes I was trying out before going “lol no, that’s dumb” and half-dozen versions of the same paragraph where I found metaphors that I liked enough to save but not enough to use. Kind of like the bloopers reel of a movie, but without the fun part where the actors break character to crack laughing at their goofs.
(Defining Moment actually started life as a flashback outake from YJ:DW that made it all the way to proper draft stage before I realised it wouldn’t fit into the structure of the main fic.)
That said, there are some other snippets in there too, and I’m sure I can dig through the file to find you something suitably silly.
“Wait, what?” Kid Flash was confused, “Don’t the Fentons hate ghosts? Why was she helping you?”
Phantom seemed to be choosing his words carefully. “Yeah, well, the Fenton parents – Maddie and Jack – did. But Jazz knew me before,” he made vague gesture towards himself, “this. We tried to hide it from her, but she worked it out,” he chuckled slightly, “as usual – typical brainiac. Anyway she wasn’t as sold on the whole ‘ghosts are evil protoplasmic scum’ thing as o-, her parents. She decided she wanted to help. She started covering for me, passing along inventions I could use, sabotaging anything that would cause major damage.” He paused with a faint smile, shaking his head, “She wanted to be a psychologist, really interested in the minds of ghosts. Cross-examined me constantly… used to drive us nuts.”
“Were you two…?” M’gann asked, noticing the gentleness with which the ghost spoke of the girl. Phantom gave the Martian a look of absolute horror, face flushing dark green. Robin trembled with silent laughter, hand pressed tightly to his mouth as he shook his head.
“What?! No. No! That would be…” he cringed, shuddering “She was m- like an older sister to me. No. Definitely not.”
Hooo boy early proto-YJ:DW was a mess. That writing and ‘humour’… 😬 My baby was sketchy back then.
