i'm having trouble getting into contact with anyone. this could be anomalous, or it could be related to the fact that...

Der neue Hintergrund  in tumblr ist eine neue Erfahrung für mich: zum ersten Mal spüre ich meine Netzhaut und fühle mich alt.   Zu alt für tumblr :  der heftige Kontrast von dunkel und hell schmerzt meine Augen (kleine spürbare Stiche)- und ich beeile mich, schnell wieder aus tumblr raus zu kommen - nicht mehr wie vorher, das rumlungern und umherstöbern, das hin und herspringen, das sich verlieren - nein jetzt werde ich gezwungen,  kalkuliert rational schnell durch die posts zu scrollen, um schnell wieder abzuhauen. Ich schaffe es nicht mal alles neue anzuschauen - es ist wie eine spiegelnde abweisende Lackoberfläche. Ästhetisch mag es interessant sein - keine Frage - und für junge Augen vielleicht sogar ein Kick sein (es hat etwas psychedelisches)  aber nicht für eine längere Verweildauer und für Augen, die schon ein paar Jahrzehnte Bildschirmzeit hinter sich haben - ich muss zugeben, das vorherige blau fand ich schon immer altmodisch, aber es hat dazu beigetragen, sich zu konzentrieren. Das geht nicht mehr - das jetzige blau ist ein Rauswerfer.

Hallo tumblr, wie wäre es mit 3 Hintergründen zur Auswahl,  aus denen jeder für sich wählen kann?!

The new background in tumblr is a new experience for me: for the first time I feel my retina and feel old.   Too old for tumblr : the sharp contrast of dark and light hurts my eyes (small perceptible stitches) - and I hurry to get out of tumblr quickly - no longer like before, the loitering and wandering around, the jumping back and forth, the losing myself - no now I'm forced to scroll through the posts rationally and quickly in order to get away again. I don't even manage to look at everything new - it's like a reflective, repellent lacquer surface. Aesthetically it might be interesting - no question about it - and for young eyes it might even be a kick (it has something psychedelic about it) but not for a longer stay and for eyes that have already had a few decades of screen time behind them - I must admit, the previous blue I always found old-fashioned, but it has helped to concentrate. That's no longer possible - the current blue is an ejector.

Hello tumblr @staff​:  how about 3 backgrounds everyone can choose from?!

Unpopular opinion: I totally agree with this dashboard update. It’s great tumblr is trying to be accessible to everyone.

Bring back old Tumblr colors (UserScript)

Took me a little while to figure this out since I’m not really a JavaScript guy, but here it is!

How to use on Chrome:

Install Tampermonkey.

Click the Tampermonkey icon on the top-right, and go to Create A New Script.

A new tab with a code editor will open. Delete everything in the text area, then copy-paste the script from above.

Press Ctrl+S.

Done! Reload any Tumblr pages you have open. 😄

How to use on Firefox:

Install Greasemonkey.

Click the Greasemonkey icon on the top-right, then New User Script. Nothing will happen. Yet.

Click the Greasemonkey icon again, you’ll see an Unnamed Script with some random numbers after it. Click it, then Edit.

A new tab with a code editor will open. Delete everything in the text area, then copy-paste the script from above.

Press Ctrl+S.

Done! Reload any Tumblr pages you have open. 😄

This is just a very quick hack. Tumblr may remove this soon. I might write a user style to solve that, but enjoy this until then! 🙃
