Tumblr and Wordpress Will Sell Your Posts To AI Models Unless You Toggle A Setting
Link: https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/other/tumblr-and-wordpress-are-selling-your-data-to-ai-companies/ar-BB1j3Xdo
I guarantee you don't want that as they will be profiting off of your hard work by putting it in "AI". Which I hate them even using that term because it is not even "artificial intelligence". They are just glorified algorithms that blend stolen text and images people made into something that may or may not be coherent/true. So here's how to toggle that off and I recommend you do it ASAP: https://help.tumblr.com/hc/en-us/articles/115011611747-Privacy-options#h_01HQP3KFE5TB8MQE0JRW29W86T
To summarize on Desktop: -Go to the dashboard. -Click "Account" on the left side. -Click your blog -On the right side, click "blog settings" -Scroll all the way down to the bottom and toggle this one on like I have here:
-Repeat with all of your blogs if necessary.
(I don't have the app to be able to write out the steps on how to do it there. But in theory, the Tumblr help link above has the steps and they are similar to the Desktop anyway. Just look for "visibility".)
-Tell them at Tumblr Support that they are not allowed to use your data for AI models even if you didn't toggle it in time to try and get them to flush your data out of the "AI" models just in case they already put it in because it sounds like they may have done so even before the announcement about it.
Do it fast though because they have conveniently already set our accounts to "give" (Which is a loose term because it's toggled off by default...) permission. Not prevent it. For maximum cash of course...
Notice the sneaky wording of this too in that it's the only thing on the blog settings page that isn't intuitively on/off. Thus making "on" an "off" in this case. So because it matches all the "off" toggles you set, it'll likely be missed by some thinking "Oh, AI is off? Good!" or it'll blend in entirely if they are just looking for something "on" because they stand out.
Spread the word.

Google Gave A Special Deal To Spotify
Well well well... All the time they were saying that they weren't giving special treatment to some after people suspected it (especially corporations), it was just to keep it hush hush so they could "negotiate". In other words: If you don't know there's a better deal to push for, they won't give it to you and they can take more from your work. That is, if they even allow you to get a better deal because Google holds all the cards. My guess is the ones they give a deal to are ones they really want on the platform or to stay on the platform. I.E.: Things they deem "important". Probably the most prominent things to try and take attention away from their own places. Everyone else likely gets shafted in a "take it or leave it" scenario. Which then they basically have to take because of the Play Store monopoly. If you want your thing on Android, it basically has to be on the Play Store because otherwise it may as well just not exist given how they'll bury outside download sources.

you have to fucking PAY TO PUT VIDEOS IN A QUEUE now on youtube??
im gonna fucking murder someone are you kidding me
Welcome to Youtube! Every aspect of the site is currently in a constant gradual decline. Have a nice day!
Confirmation: Google Only cares about the Adverts and Money, Not users
There were some leaks in regards to the Google Antitrust case and it's nice to finally see this in writing with a section of it:
"One document the company unsuccessfully tried to keep behind closed doors — Judge Amit Mehta made it public — involved a Google vice president bragging about how “addictive” the search giant’s services are, comparing them to tobacco and illicit drugs.
The executive, Michael Roszak, said that means Google is free to “mostly ignore the demand side” — i.e., consumers — in favor of “the supply side of advertisers, ad formats, and sales.” "
-----
Well well well... I wonder what all those naysayers/fanboys that blindly said Google listens and is trying to make the world a better place have to say now. I mean this is pretty sickening stuff. Like being proud of creating an addiction like alcohol and/or tobacco?... No wonder they want to keep this trial as secretive as possible: Because it'll make them look really bad. But I have a strong hunch we'll be seeing more leaks as time goes on. ;)
In any case, I for one am glad that I seen it long ago and only use the bare minimum of their stuff. I also don't adopt anything new (I use the term "new" loosely too because a lot of it is copies/buyouts) that they make because we all know they'll just shut it down later anyway. So I wonder if a lot of people picked up on that because they are no longer getting the widespread support for stuff like they used to. Or maybe people are tired of their crappy services in general and just use the bare minimum as well. Hard to say because there can be a lot of reasons. All I know is that their new stuff doesn't last long because of a lack of adoption and being unable to make profits. Which is good! Bad companies don't deserve to make money.
I guess if you still have to use their "services" and want to try and give them feedback on how to change things for the better, you've gotta throw in something that relates it with money so it has the best chance of not going in the proverbial paper shredder. But even then it's not guaranteed of course as they'll do whatever benefits "them" and not the users they claim to care about publicly while boasting about creating addictions privately.
Please spread the word on this. The more people who see them for who they are the better.

When Dr. Rochelle Walensky wanted to donate blood with a colleague who was gay, she realized he couldn't. She promised him she would change
I made an older post that talked about the speculation surrounding why gay/bi men can't donate still existed and why is should be lifted. Years later it happened!
So it looks like this had a happy ending as I imagine this will increase the amount of donations by a good amount given there have been a bunch who were itching to donate all this time and many will also likely be regulars.

We really let those rich elites convince us golf is a sport. You let them get away with it too, you fucks.
Ah, common misconceptions about golf. I’ve been wanting to make a post about this for a while in general, so why not now since I got reminded of it? It’s a long post though so get it after the break so I don’t stretch your feed to next week:
It’s definitely a sport and WAY harder than a lot think it is. Likely the hardest sport to get good at actually. Like, if you watch the people on TV playing, they make it look easy. But when you are trying it yourself, suddenly trying to get the ball in the 4.25 inch circumference hole in the fewest strokes possible from hundreds of yards out ends up seeming like a monumental task because it is. Mind you anyone can hit the ball in the hole, eventually, lol! So it’s technically accessible to all. But getting par or under par has only been accomplished by a extremely low amount of people in any given time. Some may say “Well, just because it’s hard doesn’t make it a sport!”. But it fits the definitions perfectly: https://www.oed.com/viewdictionaryentry/Entry/187476 People just tend to think it’s not one because it’s a solo game even though there are a ton of sports that people wouldn’t think twice about being a sport that are solo like Skiing, cycling and running or because they think it’s not athletic. But to hit the ball 300+ yards like the pros requires months, if not years of strength, flexibility and speed training. So much so that the average distance you can expect regular players to drive is around 225 yards. I’ve also heard the old stereotype about golfers being these obese people compared to athletes in other sports that people wouldn’t bat an eye at like Gridiron football. But you will find WAY less pro golfers that are overweight compared to football players. XD I mean... I can make all sorts of false claims that don’t matter much in the grand scheme of the sports either that flip around the stereotypes too. Like this: With golf pros you are walking 6+ miles (pros are not allowed to use a cart) over hilly terrain across 5-6 hours (more on that in the cost section) to examine where you’re hitting to for a ton of exercise, but in football it’s all flat and they only are active for about 17 minutes with the rest being loitering for replays/time drains/commercials. But we all know that football players train hard to be able to handle their bulk to hold off other players don’t we? :P Hence why I think a lot of knocking of various sports come down to misunderstanding more than anything.
To get accurate enough to keep your ball in play/out of trouble, especially if you hit farther, requires lots of refinement as even being a degree off or creating too much sidespin matters when the ball gets hundreds of yards away. Assuming you have no sidespin and are that mere 1 degree off, that is 5.2 feet for 100 yards. Go up to 300 yards and suddenly you are 15.6 feet off line, making longer hits more of a risk reward than many think. There’s also stuff to factor in like wind which can throw your shots even more off track. Even careful shots around the green and putting to get close to the hole there’s a lot of area you can miss at and a lot of ways to do so from bad lies to slopes. In fact, it is so hard to play golf well that even the best flub at times. Many say it’s maddening actually. Here’s a compilation of pro mishits off of the tee, the easiest spot to hit a ball at because it’s the flattest spot and you can tee the ball to where you feel comfortable off the ground:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qxFHXJR2R4o
So basically whenever I see people say “X-Sport isn’t a sport”, it’s largely because they just don’t understand it or are trying to discredit it. -------
Golf is also cheaper to get into than a lot think. It “used” to be a sport for the rich elitist snobs in the old days which it had difficulties shaking to this day. But you can find local courses to play at like $20-$30/round or less if you search around. That’s around 5-6 hours of play too. Compare that to going see a movie (that a lot consider to be a regular person’s leisure time) which is around $10 for 1.5 hours average and you are actually getting more bang for your buck. There are even golf courses in the world that are free to play, but they are far and few: https://www.golfpass.com/travel-advisor/articles/free-golf-courses Just about all courses have a free practice green/area to try things out though, so anyone can get a putter or wedge with a few balls (many free or dirt cheap too and you can even find lost balls while playing golf.) and have at it to see just how difficult even the short shots are. You can even rent clubs at many courses to try things out at first. Heck, even mini-golf can be really difficult and you’re only putting. Getting golf equipment is way cheaper than a lot think too. You can find sets of used clubs and bags being given away or dirt cheap (People often get caught up in the ol’ “New tech will fix my issues!” like with any sport and drop their old stuff for new ones when it’s actually a skill issue.) if you look around (Craig’s list, Ebay, Garage Sales, Play It Again Sports, etc...) and are willing to give them a cleaning. I mean sure if you go for the latest just-released stuff, you are forking out hundreds per club. But you don’t need to as the rules of the game have limited equipment performance for years like any other sport. So new stuff doesn’t even perform much better than older stuff, if at all as lots of testing found. Thus it’s more about how much time and money people want to put into it like any sport or hobby. -----
As a bonus that I seen in the reblogs about it being apparently environmentally bad, that’s also inaccurate: https://www.golfwrx.com/201071/study-golf-courses-actually-arent-bad-for-the-environment/ Golf courses existing have provided wildlife refuge by keeping forests and land that would otherwise be cut down and leveled for endless parking lots and carbon-emitting factories/businesses. People can point out the maintenance of courses with mowers and such having carbon emissions too of course, but it’s FAR less than allowing them to be clear-cut and leveled for other businesses and parking (You may have heard of the phrase “concrete jungle” before.). Which shady corporations will be fighting over to get if they aren’t already some existing business or protected area. Even then they will sometimes try to get it to destroy it for their own gain anyway. Some also think courses use a lot of water, but nope. Many have their own wells and have mastered grass maintenance to know exactly how much to use, if any. Like in drought times, they may not even water at all and people just play them dormant-brown because the grass handily doesn’t grow much, if at all, reducing maintenance even more. Here’s photo of play on a dormant course as an example:
Article source which has the image: https://thegolfnewsnet.com/golfnewsnetteam/2021/05/14/how-tall-is-golf-flagstick-what-is-minimum-recommended-height-110242/
It’s also worth noting that as big as golf courses “seem”, they are a mere pockmark out of the entire planet’s surface area and thus even if you got rid of all golf courses, they wouldn’t make a dent in where the real issues are: https://www.wri.org/insights/interactive-chart-shows-changes-worlds-top-10-emitters
...and golf courses are even aiming to be more environmentally friendly than they already were: https://www.usga.org/course-care/turfgrass-and-environmental-research/research-updates/reducing-carbon-footprint-of-golf-courses.html Which if you think about it, makes perfect sense “to” do because the less waste you have, the more money you save. But the problem is that most other corporations are so behind the times that they don’t see it. Thus big oil (https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2021/nov/18/the-forgotten-oil-ads-that-told-us-climate-change-was-nothing) and auto (https://medium.com/the-pub/exorcising-the-propaganda-of-big-auto-3d3a88bf4b73) continues to push propaganda which has slowed progress to dangerous levels that we may not be able to fix in time.
So when people are complaining about carbon emissions of golf, the focus is sadly directed at one of the lowest impact things on the planet. So if you want to start somewhere, focus on cars as they are abysmal and focus on corporations as they are are even worse (It’ll take regulation before companies change) yet they put all the blame on others just like a narcissist would to try and get others to believe oil is A-OK and redirect the blame. Even electric cars fail because the corporations behind electricity are using oil resourses to make them, as is electricity use in general because electric companies refuse to switch to hydro, wind, solar or other renewables in favor of oil to provide the power as well, which in turn costs them more money that they could be saving as well: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-06-23/building-new-renewables-cheaper-than-running-fossil-fuel-plants Hence the part of them being incredibly behind the times as they are hurting their own bottom lines too.
Now as a result, if everything “did” switch to all electric at once, the infrastructure couldn’t support it as there isn’t enough renewables set up already despite them having years to do it. It’s a huge mess they created all while they are telling us to use less heat and electricity to make it seem like we use too much. Funny how that works right? ;)
But even if people still want to claim all the environmental impacts of fossil fuels is but mere fiction, there’s one thing that remains well known and agreed on: Fossil fuels will run out eventually so we will have to transition to something else. Better sooner than later before we have to rush. Especially since other forms of energy are already more reliable. For instance: If you have not failed to start a gas lawnmower (or some other gas thing like a trimmer, chainsaw, etc...) for a while (sometimes days at a time) because the engine flooded, something clogged or it was too cold (which can make it shut off) AND needed to wait a while for it to warm up, I would be very surprised, lol! Not that electric always works either of course as nothing is perfect, but let’s just say that if a large branch cracks off on the yard due to a storm and I had to pick between our gas chainsaw or electric chainsaw to get it chopped up to dispose of it quickly because it was blocking something, I’m pulling out the outdoor extension cords. XD -----
That’s not the only field corporations spread lies about themselves ruining either. Like did you know that the plastic problem was created by corporations and NOT the people? Link: https://grist.org/accountability/maine-oregon-laws-shift-responsibility-for-recycling-plastic-waste-to-companies/ They just try and put the blame on others by saying “Oh, you just aren’t recycling! This is your fault! We created a nice system for reusing plastics and you are the ones failing the planet by not recycling!” and such when secretly most plastics made are not recycleable or are incredibly difficult to do so which ups the costs to absurd levels, including plastics that are labeled as such. So most stuff we think we can “recycle”, even if we are putting the right numbers in the bin (check your local regulations), gets chucked into the landfills anyway: https://ipen.org/news/truth-behind-plastic-curtain-most-plastic-not-recyclable Mind you that you still should recycle as it helps a bit, it’s not difficult to do so and things add up. But my point is that us mere customers aren’t the issue, we just have no other choice because most things are packaged with plastic instead of stuff like cardboard or glass. Mind you plastic has it’s uses for some things because it’s designed to be incredibly durable and versatile, though it doesn’t need to be involved with anywhere close to as many things as it is in. But this is probably getting too off track at this point so maybe I should save this for another post. :P

Nintendo had pushed to take down the YouTube channel's video on a lost _Zelda_ project, but DYKG challenged the claim and the video is now back up.
Another good example of Nintendo merely trying to intimidate people into bending to their will. So again I say more people need to call their bluff like this. Your thoughts? Thanks for reading and have a good one!

An amazing idea! When I was learning the type effectiveness, I’d write down the ones that weren’t that intuitive (I wish I still had those notes to post them for kicks) as a reference because I found that to be handier to look at than the traditional grid-based style since you had to follow rows and columns and it’s easy to lose your place. Most were x1 anyway so there was a lot of fluff by showing every matchup. So for each to have their own area of “only” strengths and weaknesses makes it way more concise and readable.
“Games Cause Violence” Goes Deeper
We all know the ol’ “Video games cause violence” irrational panic which I poked fun at before. But what did people blame for violence before video games became mainstream? Get ready... Chess. No, I’m not making this up: https://bigthink.com/pessimists-archive/chess-insanity/
Yes, that’s right fellow chess players, you were seen as potentially murderous, insane and suicidal. That outlook was of course dissolved over time as people grew wiser. Or... Well... Ok, not wiser. It more like shifted blame to other things after Chess checked out fine, lol! But it was the scapegoat of the era for people to blame for many of life’s problems as if they didn’t exist before Chess existed. You know, because people apparently didn’t have wars before chess and that chess gave them the idea. Wait...
But in any case, that’s not all. What if I told you that there was another game considered so heinous, it got outlawed for a time. It’s gotta be something that at least looks pretty bad right? Well they’re about to blow your socks off with..... Pinball: https://www.history.com/news/that-time-america-outlawed-pinball No joke. XD They equated the game to gambling because they didn’t understand it took practice to get skilled at it and just wrote it off right away. They also thought it caused kids to skip school to play them and apparently “criminal interests” were cited as a large controller of the industry. Which is hilarious in hindsight because many were making bank off of Pinball so they didn’t even need to do crime for profits. But get this... One of the reasons they gave for the ban is that the metal could be used to manufacture ammunition to fight “foreign enemies”. You heard that correctly. They chalked pinball up to being a crime spree creator but found it perfectly acceptable to shoot people in other countries. Oh America’s government... You haven’t changed much have you? ;)
Man, if only those two AND video games were all getting flak in the same era. Then imagine if Space Cadet Pinball was instead “Chessmaster Pinball” with pawns as bumpers or something in that era, they would be having kittens over it!

Corporate CEOs could force Facebook and other platforms to stop acting like 'digital gangsters.' An ad 'pause' is already having an impact at YouTube.
An older article, but still hits the nail on the head even now as not much has changed. Basically what has been a noticeable pattern is that what seems to spur action is to focus on their bottom line. None of these platforms deserve a dive if they are going to continue to harm people. So maybe the trick to getting things sorted out is more about informing the advertisers about issues on sites rather than informing the sites themselves. Their feedback forms have basically been a paper shredder for the longest time anyway as you can write the most accurate and descriptive problem reports but they’ll be completely ignored. Yet when companies pull their ads, suddenly there’s an emergency to act upon immediately. Profits over people 101...

This article explains the difference of summer as a kid verses an adult.
Every so often I come across an article that had a very wrong outlook that is not intentional. The above article is one of them. There’s a saying that I think has a lot of truth in it:
“We don’t stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.” -George Bernard Shaw
That quote doesn’t mean that you won’t grow old if you follow it of course. It’s more so talking about the state of mind. What happened to her is that she shifted from being able to let go to always stressing over something. Notice that she mentioned that she had a lot of free time even when in school. So let’s do some cross checks:
Dance Game Tournaments!
Two In The Groove/Stepmania tournaments are going on if you are up to joining them! There's East Coast Stamina 10.5 which is a team-based event (Though you can play solo like I always do, it's just much harder, lol!). It's running through May 16: https://ecs105.groovestats.com/index.php There's a whole bunch of stamina content that is premiering here so that alone is worth checking out as you'll get to play a bunch of new stuff. Like the last few Groovestats stamina competitions, you have to be up to playing at least 11s (12s for the marathons), so if you find that inaccessible, don't like stamina or just wanted to play in a different sort of tournament... There's the International Timing League Online 2022 which runs through June 24: https://itl2022.groovestats.com/ There's new content here too! Charts start at 7s so chances are most players can pass something in it. The majority of stuff here are what are called "technical" charts though, so unless you don't already play tech, there will be a lot of patterns that are new to you. They have a FAQ on it to get players up to speed on stuff like that though: https://itl2022.groovestats.com/faq (Click "What are all of the two-letter technique notations? (XO, FS, BR, etc.)" to expand it) There's a bit of stamina in it too from 11-16 if you prefer (Sort of like how Stamina RPG 5 has a splash of tech), along with stuff that doesn't have tech in general. So chances are you'll find something you'll like. Or maybe just want to challenge yourself to try and pass as much as you can. They give bonus points for varying levels of full combos too, so accuracy is paramount. Info on how to set yourself up for them are on their respective pages.
No more having to change multiple file handlers.
Followup to: https://pkgam.tumblr.com/post/674283518540513280/improper-windows
Well well well... Look who got worried about being sued over antitrust violations again, lol!
Joking aside, this is at least a step in the right direction. Windows 11 needs a LOT of steps like that in order for it to be a practical/viable OS though. That link only has a few things too as there are many more complaints to be had. So people have gotta keep pushing to get them to improve things like this otherwise they’ll just keep things the way they are. No “complain once or twice then stop” shenanigans, it’s gotta be a steady stream of “Hey, why isn’t this garbage fixed yet?” stuff. Tech companies nowadays don’t do squat unless there’s enough bad press to embarrass them into doing it because the reason why they make things worse is for their own benefit, not your’s. But even then it’s not a given. It still doesn’t hurt to try though.

Bundle for Ukraine: 998 items for $10.00
Want to support Ukraine and get over 900 games for $10 that includes the legendary Celeste? There you go!
Only' about 8 hours left though. That's $10 "minimum" too. So you can pay more to help more if you prefer.
Essentially it's a charity bundle where a bunch of developers put their games and other stuff (dev tools, music, etc...) in it to encourage donations and it kept growing in scale.

Elon Musk Tracks Users But Hates Being Tracked Himself
https://www.businessinsider.com/elon-musk-private-jet-tracking-twitter-account-2022-1
Oh, Elon says it’s a “security risk” because of “crazy” people?
https://www.lamag.com/citythinkblog/tesla-recording-data-privacy/
Well that’s a interesting turn of events! Wouldn’t you say? lol! I’m sure he’d say that he has no issue with them tracking drivers and pedestrians because the data is safe”. Except of course Tesla has been hacked before, including their vehicles. But let’s face it: Elon has a few screws loose himself. Ok, maybe a lot of screws loose. He has argued before that we shouldn’t take his Tweets seriously, but there’s a LOT more than that on him out there. You can find a lot of it at https://www.crazyelon.com . So it could be argued that it’s just as much of a security risk for him to have your info as others to have his info.
So you know what? I think should keep tracking Elon Much and all the other mega-rich people’s private jets and not accept any of their offers. Giving them a taste of their own medicine would indeed be far more satisfactory. Plus I could see Jack Sweeney making a pretty good business out of it in the long run anyway. I mean what’s $50k or a terrible Tesla 3 that you don’t even own when you can make even more and have a great time doing it?
Of course I’d still argue that there should be NO tracking EVER because of the privacy issues associated with it. But as long as lawmakers are allowing it, I’d love if the mega-rich who set up companies to track people got tracked along with everyone else so they can feel as uncomfortable as they make everyone else. Let them cry about it as it’s essentially a world they prefer. Well, if they are the ones doing the tracking and not being tracked of course. So it’s tit for tat. ;) Maybe it’ll take something like this for them to finally stop their tracking. I very much doubt it because they are in it for only themselves so they wouldn’t give up their money streams if they can help it. But I can at least hope I guess.
Before you say: “Well, they use devices by other companies that do the tracking, so they are tracked by those other companies too just like the rest of us”. True, except it’s looking more and more like that all these big companies are in cahoots with each other on some level. As a recent example you may have heard, Facebook and Google agreed to team up to fight antitrust legislation long before it happened. You can also find cases where Apple gets in on “smart” technology with Google and Amazon and all sorts of other team ups across them involving companies from Microsoft to General Motors to Walmart. So they aren’t as separate as most think. In fact, it sounds more like that they simply carved up the genres but are sticking together like Broadband Companies carved up the country.
Also, yes I am indeed saying that lawmakers are a part of the problem in general. They allowed for monopolies like Google to form which gave people no other option but to “agree” to their terms of service/contract because they’ve got their grubby fingers in everything to get your data one way or another. It’s a lot like the mob in that they give you an offer you can’t refuse.
