Disclaimer:

We do NOT ship a child El with an adult Henry.

(People accuse us of this while simultaneously supporting equally or more problematic ships lol).

We support AUs and canon divergence ideas such as the following:

-Henry and El are the same age. They meet in the lab.

-Henry is redeemed in Season 5, and his relationship with El grows into a romantic one once she is an adult.

-El says yes to Henry's offer to join him, and a very slow burn romance happens only once El is an adult.

-Time travel!

These are just a few of the many reasons we ship Henry and El:

-Henry sees himself reflected in El. In a sense, they are two parts of a whole. The only one who can understand the other. Huge Reylo vibes here.

-They have gone through similar pain and abuse, but they have come out with opposite views on the world. Dark vs Light, Yin vs Yang, need I say more?

-Henry had no real need for El to join him, other than some deep part of him wanting connection, partnership, and understanding.

-He has a canon obsession with her. He claims in season 3 (if we assume Billy is possessed by Henry/Vecna) that he has been building the UD for her. Yes, perhaps for revenge, but there is a fine line between love and hate, eh?

-He literally became a monster without her. She was his last hope, his last attempt to reach out to another person, and she rejected him (we aren't saying she did the wrong thing lol).

-He has a continuous tenderness for/with her, even when it no longer serves him to do this for manipulation purposes (i.e. Henry as Vecna)

-His obsession with stroking her face??

Our main point: If we imagine all the events of Season 4 took place between an adult El and an adult Henry, would we not see the potential romantic subtext here?

We want a life of healing and love for Henry. We believe that a large portion of his anger, violence, and nihilism comes from how people have continuously rejected him. If El had said yes, we believe the partnership and family she would have given him would have greatly tamed and diminished his world domination plans.

We just want them happy together, okay? 😭

How do you think Henry's character will be written in S5? Some people have been speculating that he might get a 'redemption' right before he dies, and I also think that would be a better ending for his character too. I'd like to see El trying to reach to Henry for the last time and be there for him when he dies? What do you think?

That's such a great question! Based on the direction TFS took Henry's character, it really does seem like they are going for some sort of redemption. Or, at least, a super tragic character arc? I also see it like you do, that El and Henry could come to understand each other and team up against the mind flayer. It could give Henry's arc closure. I def don't see a way for Henry to not die, though, which is very sad, but i understand.

I'm convinced El could have steered Henry away from his world domination plans. I think a large part of his anger towards the world is because he has been so mistreated. Having a partner and family in El probably would have done wonders for him.
