Pirates of the Caribbean on VHS!
I randomly found a POTC Comic Zone issue at a comic book shop yesterday! This particular one has an advert with an issue that has one of the first appearances—if not THE first appearance—of young Jack Sparrow.
I wasn’t sure if I already had this one since I have had a small collection of these, but I figured I’d probably flip it on eBay or do something else with it if I did. Turns out I didn’t already have it so I’m really happy to add something new to my collection!
Rare (Possibly Lost Media) Disney Adventures Comic Zone Summer 2007 FOUND!!!
I’ve collected a couple of the Disney Adventures magazines/comics a few years ago mainly for their exclusive young Jack Sparrow stories. Although they’re in The Tale of Billy Turner, I’m super interested in the DA issues because they usually have exclusive art, typically colored versions of the illustrations in the young Jack Sparrow series. One of the issues also has a prototype sketch of young Jack.
The first two of the three issues that have the young Jack stories weren’t super hard to find, however I couldn’t find the third one from Summer 2007 ANYWHERE. I had been searching for YEARS all over the internet for it. My last ditch effort to find it was when I made a post on here over a year ago looking for it. I thought maybe someone on here owned it and could sell one to me or at least send pictures of the inside.
Earlier this week on that post, I was directed to an eBay listing that recently popped up and I jumped on it SO FAST. And alas it is finally HERE!! I’m literally still processing the fact it’s sitting on my desk right now and that I currently own a piece of rare POTC content.

I do not have a scanner so I had to work with my phone camera. If I get a scanner, I’ll post the other comics at some point since I’m sure those were lost from the face of the earth for a while.

Also when I first opened this, the last young Jack page was the first page I turned to and I literally SCREAMED.
If I may volunteer a few more items on the 00s potc nostalgia list (personally for me xD): hours on Fanfiction.NET scrolling through the PotC category, the time when DMC/AWE came out and looking for all the merch … like a tissue box designed like the dead man’s chest, that potc fan site that had all these cool downloadable icons and photo edits that I can’t remember for the life of me, when the (official?) PotC website had like 10 different DJ Tiesto remixes of He’s a Pirate, that fan made PotC Crossover series on YouTube created from illustrations done in MS Paint… good times <3 xD
The best thing I’ve ever done as of recent was browse through FanFiction.NET on the Wayback Machine. I found a bunch of fics I haven’t read since I was a kid that don’t exist anymore outside of the archives. If anyone here has written embarrassing Sparrabella fanfics and uploaded them online around the age of 13, then it’s probably on there and I probably read it.
I had so much of the toys and clothes and costumes. There was POTC stuff everywhere I went, even at school. Zizzle toys were the best. I still have the toy pistol that lights up when fired and the compass that spun at the press of a button.
All the fan art was either JackXElizabeth, WillXElizabeth, JackXRum, JackXDirt, BarbossaXFruit, or Davy Jones being super adorable.
I’m pretty sure that’s the right tissue box. I don’t think I’ve ever had it but it seems so familiar to me.

I didn’t have any of the Zizzle toys (tho they looked boss!) but I remember I used to have a DMC Captain Jack Sparrow bobble head that looked like this:
